23.01.2022 Well a week that ended a bit more normal than most this year, children all filtering back to school and more people heading back to work. Up at the farm it’s be...en business as usual.’ Campsite remains fairly busy with people now enjoying the quieter times enjoying the surroundings, Gerry Price at The coastal gardener nursery has had plenty of visitors still tending to there gardens. The farm cafe has been closed with current resident Hungry bear back in hibernation but I’m sure he has been foraging to bring you the finest Sunday roast tomorrow. And me at Fort view tyres seemed to have lots of camper and Motorhome tyres to attend to this week. Please make sure you keep your tyres checked on these vehicles as several customers have made purchases and tyres on them have ranged this week from 6-18 years old that were not fit to drive on. These vehicles often operate to ther maximum loads so it really is Important. Have a lovely weekend and as always keep your guard up as we are not out of the woods yet. Peter.

20.01.2022 Don't forget, Fort View Tyres are open right up till Christmas Eve :)

20.01.2022 Wow that was a busy week and still tomorrow to go, bit of a mixed up week weather wise but it gives us a challenge. In a week when we found out that Donald Trum...p really is an invincible super hero or has hes stunt double just taken over ?? Our joke of a floating bridge that seemed destined to never float again could also get some magical boost blast powers in order to keep it in a straight line ( funny I thought that’s what the chains did on the older model) Our pair of useless hovercraft also both went sick mid week with no service at one point and that was before the wind stopped them the following day Oh dear lets keep our fingers crossed for next week Mean while up at the farm : The farm campsite slowly wound down with just a couple of lone caravans enjoying peace and tranquility as well as stunning views and at some point great weather to Gerry Price at The Coastal Gardener Nursery keeps very busy getting her garden design projects through to completion and the nursery still has a steady flow of customers The Farm Cafe has a new resident and will reopen in early November as a proper Cafe with regular open hours and an inviting menu :)Announcements will probably be made next week. Colin our campsite warden has been seen amongst the neglected cafe garden and it’s all coming togeather nicely for our new tenants And as for me well as I said it’s been busy as people catch up with there extended MOTs. Still seeing lot of scary worn tyres and also a set of 17 year old tyres this week but all gone away a lot safer. Don’t forget to pop in for your Free tyre Check as the roads are very slippery now it’s wet and the leaves are dropping. I will never try to sell you something you don’t need so please don’t be scared just pop in I will not bite I promise Anyway that’s me out of here, as always keep safe, well and look out for each other as we are by no means in the clear yet. Peter.

20.01.2022 Please excuse an early weekly post but to be quite honest I have few words and I’m pretty done with this week already. My mum passed away last night and I’m rat...her away with the fairies myself. Anyway up at the farm in autumn mode Gerry Price at The coastal gardener nursery continues to tidy organise and plan her nursery for the 2021 season. The farm cafe will open very soon as a new reliable plumber is fitting a new boiler at begging of week so updates will follow hopefully along with brekkie and homemade cake. As for me at the shack I apologise if I haven’t been my usual self but I don’t really have my heart in it at the moment. But please feel free to keep popping in for those tyre checks, it really is very important. Good luck to Richard Weaver and he’s Rally team this weekend. As always Look after yourself and those close to you in these difficult times. You never know what’s waiting around the corner. Peter

20.01.2022 Evening all, hope you all had a fantastic Christmas please note Hungry Bear will re-open New Years Day 1st January 2020 ...Thank you all for your custom and sup...port through 2019 and we look forwarding to giving you all a warm welcome and some delicious food in the New Year xxx Big Love from All The Bear family xxx See more

20.01.2022 Well here we are again, that week just flew by. And lots of coming and going on our Island. We lost the reliable fast cat service last weekend only to find it w...as too windy most of the weekend to run a Hovercraft then on Monday we had the floating bridge up and running again but how long for we ask, I suspect it won’t last long and will probably be due some essential maintenance shortly And the long awaited arrival of the first new to us Island line train that should enter service next May looking great as they came off the ferry yesterday. Fingers crossed for them and let’s hope they sort out the track, it fits through the Ryde tunnel and is able to cope with the bend at Ryde station For me this is second time around as I was on these trains when they first entered service in the late seventies and early eighties in London. They did 40 years on the circuit but never quite won the hearts of Londoners like there predecessors but were good workhorses so fingers crosssed for them. (See pics) Anyway not a lot happening in winter mode up at Fakenham Farm. Gerry Price at The coastal gardener nursery has been braving the elements in a quest to finish those garden projects. Farm cafe with resident Kevars in the country is getting closer to its grand opening, so won’t be long before visitors to the farm will once again be sampling first class breakfasts for the first time in quite a while And down at my Shack it’s been rather busy with a few call outs to local residents in trouble and lots of you getting prepared for the winter ahead. Nice to see so many calling in for your winter checks also Well that’s all folks, you all take good care out there, look after each other and keep safe and well. Peter.

20.01.2022 In a week when not all went to plan in the country or closer to home, we once again have to be a little more careful and mindful about what we do and how we do ...it, keeping ourselves and others Safe & Well. At the farm it’s been a bit of a roller coaster week to with ups and downs. Farm campsite remains busy with mostly local people looking for an escape from the normal and taking advantage of the stunning views and surroundings. Gerry Price at the coastal gardener has been under the weather this week so her Husband Steve has been at the helm of the nursery steering the ship through the week and putting he’s take in things (get well soon Gerry) Farm cafe with current resident Hungry bear is still hibernating during daylight hours but will be doing some magical take away or home delivered roasts tomorrow. Don’t for get the Bears are looking for an new Den so keep your eyes peeled for them as there is a reward As for me, well a mixed bag of jobs as usual from a 4 inch mobility tyre to a 22 inch Range Rover. However I must apologise to the gentleman who turned up this week looking bemused as he saw my shack, I greeted him with a smile when he said, Oh I didn’t think it would be like this. I kept smiling as he told me. This is not for me and drove off. Well you can’t win them all and you are what you are, I know my place lol. As always have a great weekend and keep that guard up to stay safe and well. Peter Bit of nostalgia in the pics this week

20.01.2022 Another week passes us by, a mixture of Halloween and Christmas surrounds us in the shops and yet everything just feels not quite right Everyone remains on ed...ge and nobody quite know where they will be or what there be doing this time next week But up at the farm as you enter the gates we try to put as much of that behind us as we can. Weather has been pretty good this week and today it was stunning as customers sat out and made the most of the sunshine and stunning views. Farm campsite still keeps getting bookings so the sheep are still looking on as the grazing paddock is not quite within there grasp yet Gerry Price at The Coastal gardener nursery has been very busy out on site as always trying to complete this years design projects while the nursery still has a steady flow of customers. Don’t forget the nursery will only be open for a couple of weeks before closing for the winter so might be worth you popping in this weekend or next to grab your coastal plants before it’s too late. Farm cafe with no current resident will be making announcements shortly regarding new tenants and opening date and opening hours Clive and Julie have worked tirelessly this week clearing and cleaning with Colin our campsite warden sorting the neglected rear garden and even finding a fence that next week will be painted So watch this space as it won’t be long before the farm has a proper CAFE again As for me at the tyre shack, well it’s been very busy and I’ve had the usual varied jobs coming in. I had a pram/ pushchair with a double blow out on Monday, a total of 5 wheelbarrow wheels throughout the week as well as cars, vans 4x4s oh and a sack barrow lol. Don’t forget to keep popping in for your tyre checks, always happy to see you and make sure your safe for the winter Time to shut up now. As always Take good care of yourselves and look after each other. We will get through all this one day. Peter.

20.01.2022 Fort View Tyres Lovely rest bite this morning from the intense heat this week. Wednesday we hit 34.8 in our corner of the farm and Thursday 35.6. But stunning i...f you were in your garden with a cold beer. Be careful out there as the wet roads can be very slippery after such a long period of dry weather. On a week when a few idiots trashed the stunning Appley beach I thought I would add a few pics of how beautiful it was on Sunday lunchtime. Busy week up the farm as Clive and Julie have been getting the campsite ready for July 4th and the on site cafe Hungry bear was spotted revamping he’s pallet furniture for a new social distancing outside dining experience coming soon Gerry at The coastal gardener has been busy at the nursery potting on and restocking after a very busy spell and is fully stocked with amazing plants for the weekend Anyway as always Take care, keep your guard up and look after yourselves. Open today until 12.45 and next week 8.45-4.45. I will be Closing at Midday on Wednesday (sorry) Feel free to call or text any day 8am-10pm Peter. See more

If In doubt just call in and we will check for you, no need to get out of your car or any form of contact, let’s just keep everyone safe in every way possible. See more

16.01.2022 Well that was a very pleasant week weather wise Shame in a week when the country went down hill faster than a mobility scooter over the Downs with paparazzi c...hasing it. But less of the doom and gloom. At the farm it was business as usual in our own little world Up at the farm campsite it was fully booked with campers enjoying the stunning views and surroundings that we have on offer here. Gerry Price fully fit now was back on the bridge of the good ship Coastal gardener nursery with plenty of customers and potting jobs to keep her busy. No change at the farm cafe with current resident Hungry bear still maintaining hibernation during daylight hours. Many people were seen hunting bear including the The way forward group during there poo picking session but to no avail so it was a picnic with a view on the front lawn for them instead. Rumours have it that the bears were checking out bigger and better dens as many have been suggested by there customers this week hoping to grab that 100 bear food voucher Don’t forget the bears evening burger feasts as well as there famous roast on Sunday As for me well I wasn’t rejected by anyone this week lol and had my usual variety of jobs from a carpet roll trolly tyre to a tractor tyre and even had a call from a pilot who had flown into Bembridge and got a puncture. Sadly I was too busy to be able to get down there and then do the round trip to fix it so had to pass this on to the Islands number one mobile tyre fitter who didn’t let me or the customer down Anyway enough said, I’m sorry but I’m closed Monday but back as normal from Tuesday. As always from me, Keep your guard up, Take good care and Stay Safe out there Peter.

09.01.2022 In a week when a lot of the country puts the brakes on. The Island seems to be going up a gear for the last influx of holiday makers this year. Whether your i...n favour or not it is even more important than ever to look after yourselves out there and keep each other safe. Luckily in our surrounding villages there is so much help on offer. Businesses that will go the extra mile to look after the people they serve. We are all very lucky on this Island. And so for the farm this week The farm campsite will be closing on the 31st and we finish on a final little flurry for the half term before finally letting the sheep in for there winter graze. Gerry Price at The Coastal gardener nursery will be closing this Sunday so you have two days left to buy your coastal plants and finish off the gardens that have kept us all sane this year. Gerry and Steph have done an amazing job this year at the nursery in very difficult times helping people create there dream gardens. The farm cafe has a new opening date and has been slightly delayed due to the amount of work necessary to get the kitchen up to a high standard and a new fresh countryside look in the dining area. Monday the 30th of November is when St Helens has a proper farm Cafe again. We will keep you updated on new name, opening hours and menu very soon. As for me at my tyre shack I thought it would be a quiet week due to half term but I was lured into a false sense of security on Monday and the rest of the week went barmy. Jobs ranged from sack barrow blow outs, trailers, motor homes as well as a strange request to sort out about a kilo of shingle caught up in a grill under tray ( my knuckles are still sore from that one lol) Anyway that’s a week up on the farm. Please look after each other and take good care. Peter.

09.01.2022 Dont forget that Fort View Tyres will be Closed Friday the 22nd and reopening Friday 29th November

09.01.2022 Well one word can sum this week up WET No hang on let’s use two words VERY WET But let’s look on the bright side, we are still able to do almost anything w...e want on the Island if we are sensible unlike a lot of other parts of the country and now the last holiday is over for the year fingers crossed for the next fortnight that the numbers don’t go sky high. Up at the farm it’s been a strange week. The farm campsite is now Closed for 2020 and the last caravan roles out in the morning and when the gate closed the sheep move into there winter residence. Gerry Price at The Coastal gardener nursery is now closed but Gerry remains very busy trying to finish of garden projects between the horrendous weather conditions The Farm Cafe with new resident (announcement very soon) has a firm opening date of Monday the 30th of November. The new residents this week have been working tirelessly to strip out the kitchen and all new fixtures and fittings will be installed over the coming week The cafe will aim to be a big part of the St Helens Community like it was in the early days. And as for me down stream this week in my shack as usual its been a very varied week with jobs ranging from a championship rally car to a golf buggy Please don’t forget your winter tyre and pressure checks, in this weather it is so important, pop in anytime and I will always take a look for you. I have another apology to a customer that came into me this week and I would not repair he’s tyre that had a puncture too close to side wall. Despite him telling me he had been in the motor trade for 44 years and knew far more about tyres and tyre safety than I could ever know My way has always been if I won’t do it for my family I won’t do it for a customer. I put air in he’s tyre and mentioned several other tyre retailers so I hope he got sorted. That’s all folks. As always from me please stay safe, keep well and look out for each other. Happy Halloween Pete.

09.01.2022 The coastal gardener will be open from this Thursday :)

09.01.2022 A few pictures from the week gone by. Next week we enter week eight of lockdown but I think with some hope in sight, maybe another three weeks and we will be on... the right side of this. Great news this week is that my neighbour Gerry Price at The Coastal gardener nursery will be able to open (with social restrictions) and she has an amazing new nursery layout with a stunning collection of coastal plants for sale Thur-Sun 10-4. Have a good weekend, take good care of yourselves and stay safe. We will be open today 8.45-12.45 As always feel free to contact me 8am-10pm 7 days a week for any info or out of hours fitting for key workers and essential travel needs. Peter. See more

07.01.2022 That was a mixed bag week in more ways than one, I had everything from a pram wheel up to a tractor and lots in between. Last Wednesday I melted at 38 degrees ...and this Wednesday soaked to the skin by 9.30 and yesterday almost blown over and that takes some doing being a tad overweight lol Anyway I blame Gerry price at the Coastal gardener for doing her rain dance she must of put a step out of place hence the wind also Busy week up the farm as we approach holiday season end, campsite busy but everyone hung onto there awnings thanks to a little help from Colin and crew. Gerry price at the Coastal gardener busy ad ever as people still are creating magical gardens this year with her help. Farm cafe with resident Hungry bear still hibernating during daylight hours but being creative in the evenings and for Sunday roast. And me well just doing my thing lol. Have a great weekend take good care and keep safe out there. Peter

Gerry Price at The coastal Gardener nursery has been in and out still finishing off her 2020 projects and planning for 2021 And at my Shack it’s been a really busy week, I’ve tried to keep up with most things but must apologise if I’m a bit vague at times, next week is also very busy and lots of bookings right upto Christmas Eve.
