22.01.2022 URGENT UPDATE Afternoon everyone Luke & I have just met with Baseball Victoria. In light of the declaration by the state government of a State of Disaster... for Victoria from 6pm this evening; all baseball has been cancelled for the next 6 weeks. This means: No Junior Baseball - trainings or games No Senior/Junior training at all! BV will release more information later this afternoon and I will share this with you as soon as I have received it. Stay safe & put your masks on. Cheers Jeanine

21.01.2022 It is with much sadness that we let you know that after a long battle with cancer Joe Jones has passed away today. Jo was a Life Member of our club and was passionate for the game and it was a pleasure to have such a dedicated & loyal member in our wonderful club. He will be missed at all the games and events that he took pride in being a part of, especially cooking our BBQs! When the family provide us with further details about his funeral we will let you know here with the...ir wishes. 19.01.2022 Hello Falcons Family! On Sunday our Junior players for 2020 played their first game of the Junior Baseball League season RIGHT HERE IN BENDIGO! I haven't been posting much information about our two teams but I'm hoping to change that. Here we go! We have two teams this year, 1 x 11 & Under and 1 x 13 & Under team. This week many of the kids doubled up as the long weekend as many of the teams across the league had people away. Our players had an unreal time and were real champ...ions playing 3 hours worth of Baseball! Most of our players have been with us now for two years playing socially and now, officially patched over to The Falcons Baseball Club. Our Junior players playing as Falcons, for our club. It has been a long road for everyone involved and we have all four clubs in Bendigo with Junior teams in both 11 & Under and 13 & Under divisions. The Junior competition has been revived and Baseball in Bendigo once again has a bright future with an unbelievable group of supporters. While we still need to build our U10 and U16 divisions across the league, we are confident we can achieve it. There are some people we need to thank: Terry Smith, Jayson Strahan, Georgina Strahan, Andrew Jones, Julie Jones, Luke Martin, Belinda Martin, Adam James, Christina Tibbet, Stacy Castle. Jeanine Fitzgerald and to everyone who came to the clinics we ran in Schools over February. Some of these names you will know very well and some are of our amazing volunteers and parents. Without these people we would be able to give our Juniors the chance to play Baseball. A massive thank you to all of you. (If there is someone i forgot I am sorry! Please add them to the comments =P) The scores of our two teams over the weekend 11 & Under - Falcons VS Bendigo East Falcons 9 - Bendigo East 8 13 & Under - Falcons VS Bendigo East Faclons 0 - Bendigo East 16 All Juniors across these two games have been playing socially for quite some time now. The battle in the 11 & Under game was a worthy one with a lot of great rivalry between the players. Not our day our 13 & Under team but next week we will be bringing the bat ready to swap the scoreboard around for next week! So there you have it. The future for the Falcons Baseball Club is bright and as we move forward we will see our players become Falcons Champions. See you next week on Sunday! =P -Seb

15.01.2022 Evening Everyone Luke and I participated in a conference call at 6pm tonight with Baseball Victoria and all other Winter Associations in our state. As per the latest advice issued today, Baseball Victoria wanted to give Winter Associations further information about moving forward should any further restrictions be put into place and what this also means for us now, since players are currently preparing for our winter competition.... Moving forward, Baseball Victoria will meet with us and the other Winter Associations on a weekly basis (likely to be Tuesdays at 6pm) to discuss further updates and possible assistance to associations. Note that STGI will remain open at this point. However Baseball Victoria understand that there will be many who will not register and pay fees at this point without knowing what may occur beyond the 7th April. As you are all aware we are in a State of Emergency and updates are occurring hour by hour and it appears the worst it yet to hit us. If anyone or any club have any questions that they would like us to put forward to Baseball Victoria you can write to Luke or myself before next Tuesday. One question that was presented this evening was: "Can a club with smaller numbers and limited groups continue to train and/or play games prior to the season starting?". The simple answer is NO. It does not matter how big or small your club is; this is a clear directive and all advice and measures put into place are coming from the Government. I am worried as I am sure you all are of the impact that these shutdowns will have on our clubs in Bendigo and what further restrictions may be imposed. But we have to ensure the safety of everyone and their families in our community and need to make this our highest priority. One thing that was clear in the conference call tonight with all Associations was that whatever decision is made; it is made together and all Associations follow suit for the wellbeing of all communities in baseball. After the Vic Premier’s statement today all Falcons training both Junior & Senior will be cancelled for the next 5 days (Feb 13th - Feb 17th) We are still planning to return to training after this short lockdown unless the advice from the Vic Gov or Baseball Vic changes during this time.... Hopefully, A short little break and then right back on track. We will keep you up to date!
