17.01.2022 One of the best things of being a photographer, is having the opportunity to get to know interesting and talented people, and get a first row seat into their activities. This album showcases some of those unsung talents: Chonkai Latin Folkloric Dance Group, getting ready to perform, and performing in the celebration of Colombia's Independence Day. Many thanks to Zolangie Ramirez for inviting me and to Chonkai'screw for allowing me to tag along.

16.01.2022 They make it look easy. But behind those graceful and fluid movements are years of practice and and an inconmensurable love for their cultural roots. Wherever Zolangie Ramirez, mi prima Lucy Santisteban, and all the Chonkai girls get together, they create a sanctuary of Colombian culture and traditions. A friendly sanctuary, where I have been welcomed and given a first row seat. A privileged spot indeed, that I use to document all the hard work and dedication that goes into creating their beautiful performances. This album showcases two rehearsals, one at Latino Grooves and another at The Gov, and performance in the celebration of Colombia’s independence day, at The Gov. Thanks girls, for keeping Colombia’s culture alive and well, and for sharing it with me and the world.

In an ever more homogenized environment, is an effort to preserve and display the cultural heritage that makes each cultural group unique. This seventh installment features girls and gowns from the Iranian Women Organization South Australia and Elena, wearing her magnificent Taraz.
