24.01.2022 Some great advise we all need to consider.

23.01.2022 Our Training last night was all about Hoses, Hydraulics and Pump Operations Tonight saw members of the Falls Creek Fire Brigade respond to the Falls Creek Fire Station for a ‘mock’ scenario in the Village Bowl, Falls Creek. This provided the opportunity to test the response of volunteer firefighters in getting to the fire station, to then attend an emergency incident. With the addition of a new CFA mini fleet to facilitate brigade viability and enhance response, one of the ma...chines (a Can-Am Side-By-Side Defender) was also able to be utilised for equipment logistics. The focus of this practical training session was on hose, hydraulics and pump operations. The volunteer firefighters were able to maintain valuable practical skills in the alpine environment, as well as further exposure to the benefits of the Cleveland Coils; a systematic method to stow fire hose that has advantages of more effective deployment during a fire. The alpine environment makes for a challenging and complex fireground, however the Falls Creek volunteer firefighters are accustomed to these challenges and complexities; slippery conditions and hose, deep snow pockets, cold weather, water runoff creating ice, potential for snow shed off roofs, etc. The skills, experience and dedication of the Falls Creek Fire Brigade members, combined together, make for a very effective team to protect life and property throughout Falls Creek..

23.01.2022 "One Meter from the Heater" Whether you’re carving up the slopes or falling face-first into the snow. When it's time to dry your ski gear make sure you keep it "One Meter from the Heater" ! http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/fires-in-the-home/

21.01.2022 YOUR DRYER COULD CAUSE A FIRE Is it time to do your washing? Outside Washing lines just don’t do the job at Falls Creek We need our Dryers!! ALWAYS check & clean your lint filter! Don’t take clothes out till after the Cool Down cycle is complete BEWARE of oily/greasy towels or tea towels from day spas and restaurant kitchens Heavy duty wash in hot water, dry on a cool dryer cycle... Look after your dryer it could cause a fire!! http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/fires-in-the-home/

21.01.2022 ONE METRE FROM THE HEATER" While you may not be all that successful at getting your jeans and other wet clothes dry outside at Falls Creek, it is important that you keep them all 1 metre from the heater. Be fire safe :-) Fires inside your home in winter are a high risk. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/fires-in-the-home... *Winter is the peak time for heater fires, and with people and children indoors during this time, it’s more important than ever to follow some basic fire safety tips. *Drying clothes and other items must be kept at least one metre away from all heating. *Children must be supervised near all types of heating. Ensure a safe distance is maintained between children and heating. *Keep wood and other combustibles at least one metre from a fire. All residents should also have gas heaters inspected and serviced every two years to ensure the safety of loved ones from carbon monoxide poisoning or fire.

19.01.2022 3am Sunday is the end of Daylight savings, turn your clocks back an hour. Extra hours sleep! Also change the batteries in your smoke alarm. Stay safe everyone.

18.01.2022 Who WONT be charging their phone UNDER THEIR PILLOW tonight? Busy day today; Doing emails, talking on the phone, checking your social media apps? Your phone is seriously flat and needs charging tonight, right? Your Mobile phones (tablets and laptops) should always be on a hard surface with good airflow while charging. Only use the charger supplied with the phone, or a charger approved by the manufacturer - that cheap charger you bought online could end up costing you a lot mo...re than the $$ you saved. Remember: You can't smell smoke when you're asleep and you should always have working smoke alarms in your accommodation. AVOID THE RISKS * Never have a phone charging in bed or under covers * Use only the manufacturer’s or an approved charger & cables * Charge the phone on a hard surface with good airflow * Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for charging and use http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/fires-in-the-home/

18.01.2022 One Metre From The Heater It’s wet and windy outside today, if your clothes get wet, we’d love you to keep them a metre from the heater Fires inside the home in winter are a high risk. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/fires-in-the-home

16.01.2022 We would like to thank everyone that attended our last raffle night for the summer, it was a great night with lots of fun had by everyone. It was the most successful raffle night ever! Once again we would like to thank our amazing sponsors, The Frying Pan, Falls Creek, Tawonga South Butchery, The Falls Creek Post Office (AKA Lynn G) & Vegitation Mt Beauty Greengrocer for the amazing prizes every week. All money raised through these weekly raffles goes directly to the brigade to pay for additional equipment and training. This years proceeds have gone towards the purchase of a brand new Floating pump and a complete set of Milwaukee cordless tools.

16.01.2022 BA (Breathing Apparatus) Skills Maintenance @ Falls Creek The Falls Creek Fire Brigade members have been demonstrating their commitment and passion to protect life and property throughout the Falls Creek Alpine Resort. Over the past few weeks, our members have been taking time out of their busy winter schedules, during a busy part of the snow season, to complete necessary skills maintenance for breathing apparatus operations. This crucial training is targeted every 6 months t...o ensure efficiency and proficiency, so that when required, our volunteer firefighters are ready at a moment’s notice. When the physical work in arduous alpine conditions is required, and with the complete ensemble to wear weighing nearly 30kgs, breathing apparatus operations are a major requirement for CFA operational response in these unique alpine areas. Next time you see your local volunteer firefighters, please acknowledge their efforts to maintain training on a weekly basis.
