25.01.2022 Happy Monday! Don't forget to take a moment to yourself today to look up, look around, take a breath and smile :)

23.01.2022 Achievement unlocked!! So excited to be a Superhost! It look a lot of hard work to improve our gorgeous retreat this year, so I'm so happy to have woken up to see this email!! Yay!! Go us!! and thank you, everyone for helping turn this place around!

23.01.2022 some beautiful forest textures

23.01.2022 This winter has been so wonderful, so much rain and moisture in the forest has given us our beautiful waterfall back! Are you a waterfall chaser? We have more than 1! This one, Yoorigan which is tall and slender, and the Cascades which are short fat and perfect for swimming in - if you can brave the cold!

22.01.2022 Wonderful Spring blossoms filling the air

22.01.2022 I can't get enough of these poinsettias flowering right now on a few different trees. They're SO gorgeous. I had only ever seen plastic and velvet poinsettias used as decoration for Christmas during my time living in North America. To see them in bloom here in my own backyard just thrilled me to bits! How do you relate to these flowers? Are they a traditional Holiday Season flower or you?

20.01.2022 HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE! Do Fridays even count anymore? Who is eve back at work? How is everyone doing right now? I feel so out of the loop sometimes, especially when restrictions seem to be up and down and round and round... are we all hanging in there? If you ever need to escape, you know where to find me!

20.01.2022 A sight to behold, this ancient Keeper of our Forest; Grandmother fig's roots sink, spread and wrap themselves around her base, where palms flourish in her care and orchids blossom on her limbs

20.01.2022 Hello!! Have I ever mentioned how much I love trades? Barters? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Money really is the enemy, let's be honest ;) and when there is an opportunity for trade I am so down. Do you have anything to trade for some time here in the Forest? Maybe you grow veggies or make art, maybe you're good at house painting....or kitchen renovating! Whatever it is, LET'S TALK! Trading is SO BADASS and fun!

20.01.2022 So excited to go for a wander and see how many of these little limb-latchers are blooming in velvet purples and whites! They're everywhere!!

19.01.2022 Amazing!!!! The waterfall is so big it's almost scary being down at the bottom of it all alone. I slipped a few times in the rushing river, but totally worth it for this angle! Thank the rain gods for finally giving us a break!

18.01.2022 WHO is your FAVOURITE travel buddy?? Here is one of mine, the love of my life and CEO of Falls Forest, Awooshka Whiteshadow at your service! Post a photo of your fav travel buddy below - especially if it's a fluffy one

18.01.2022 Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.

18.01.2022 Let's go on a forest adventure!

18.01.2022 Loved writing our story and diving into the history of this place. I hope so much to be able to learn more, this place is so layered.

15.01.2022 Have a wonderful Saturday night everyone! I hope wherever you are you're enjoying nourishing food, some time to yourself, a moment to slow down a little and enjoy your night. peace out starlights! We'll see you in the morning!

15.01.2022 We have some beautiful events lined up this summer which I can't wait to share with fabulous hosts and wonderful guests! Hope we can have another theme party not too unlike this one we had last December, but maybe with a little less gigantic dresses

15.01.2022 One of the best views around here, if you ask me. The hidden Mermaid Pools. A swim in these clear cool waters will have the water nymph in you feeling in jungle heaven.

15.01.2022 What are some of your favourite things about the forest? I'm so into dark and damp forests, and the beautiful smell of decaying leaves and wet earth that fills my soul! The wind, the birds, the trees....I find forests to me just the most magical places, especially our woodlands here at Falls!

14.01.2022 Such a delightful overcast and misty day leading to a productive day sipping tea and staring out the window

13.01.2022 As some of you know, we had some pretty harrowing experiences when Hugh, (my wizardly husband for those of you who don't know this fine moustached man) had a pretty scary and very serious accident that left him in ICU for quite some time, leaving him without the use of his dominant arm. It all happened at the same time Covid19 was catching up with Australia as well as the powerful impact the BLM movement started having on the world. We've not only been in lockdown, but we've ...been facing a some major changes in our quiet woodland lives. It's been quite the journey but I have to say I am incredibly impressed by the resilience I have seen in Hugh, he's a tough and strong guy with a big gentle heart and watching his strength and creativity continue to flow is something that helps keep me sane in my dark times. Onwards and upwards, I suppose, because what else is there to do See more

13.01.2022 Nature is the BEST medicine for the soul <3

13.01.2022 This is a pretty joyful sound right now

13.01.2022 Which way will you go?

12.01.2022 We went for a walk late afternoon, to set up in time for nightfall at the waterfall. In the pitch dark we scanned the rocks and walls that surround Yoorigan, our towering waterfall, in search of nighttime creatures. The sounds change when you're in there, especially at night. Is it your imagination or reality, it's hard to tell. But without fail, as our eyes adjusted to the night, we spotted mystical, magickal little glow worms, traced in lines in the crack of the rockwalls. How about that! So happy to see they're still alive and even seem to be breeding, despite the horrible drought we went through last summer, where nearly everything left us. But the winter goddesses have blessed us with so much rain lately, it's been pure joy to watch everything come back to life

12.01.2022 There is a wonderful stillness about winter that I can't get enough of - the air feels lighter, more crisp and fresh. The sound of the water travelling through the creek is my new soundtrack. I just love this time of year!

11.01.2022 Hey Friends of the Forest!! I'm happy to say it's FINALLY finished!! I've been working my butt off to get all this STUFF happening for Falls Forest Retreat, but here is the first official launch of my new website!!!! We are tirelessly working on renovations as we can and I am learning *so much* about....e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g from copywriting, to design, to web, to marketing, SEO, styling, overspending, social media, sustainable material sourcing, to everything else it takes to... run this kind of thing and somehow in between it all, taking on a whole bunch of other projects while sometimes spending nights crying on the floor. Anyway, here it is! Have a look and I welcome feedback, just know that pretty much anything you say will probably make me cry. And dont forget to send your friends my way if they're looking for the unsurmounted natural beauty of the Australian Rainforest! THANKS my sweet friends AND Thank you so much to Krista Wilson who is such a babe of a photographer, and Allison Dahl for helping me tie-up the loose ends that were making me scream bloody murder on my website!

10.01.2022 FOLLOW THIS LINK TO ENTER... https://wn.nr/VWCSLG I'm not usually one to enter competitions (although I do love a good game of Bingo ) BUT these fine ladies of Three Birds Renovations are having this incredible giveaway, and I really can't help but wish with all my might that we could win an incredible makeover for the Falls Forest common house (so affectionately known as 'The Roundhouse')... Imagine what we could do with that huge kitchen, sunken lounge, games area and fireplace!!!! It is such a wonderful and unique gathering space and it NEEDS SAVING!!! We already have big dreams and have set the wheels in motion, but to be able to really turn it over so it is the functional community space it once was we could start to host weddings, women's circles, 21sts, baby showers, workshops, ceremonies and all kinds of incredible things!! PLUS you could win too!! Please help us out by following this link to enter yourself in the draw - for each of our followers who enters, we get another chance to enter, and you can get your friends involved on behalf of you too! It sure would be something magical for whoever won this FOLLOW THIS LINK TO ENTER... https://wn.nr/VWCSLG

08.01.2022 A good shot of me about 1 second before I ate dirt and fell in the river. Can't blame her for trying to keep us out of her beautiful hidden passages

07.01.2022 Taking a moment to get down to the micro levels here

07.01.2022 So cute! Although, I don't advocate for the feeding of wildlife, only water. Kevin Romain

06.01.2022 Being in lock down has been one of the most interesting times for me. A lot of people don't believe me when I say it, but I am a HUGE introvert. I love being around people, welcoming people into my world and showing them how we live. BUT it is draining and I deal with A LOT of anxiety. When we shut our doors to guests, and my life changed to total aloneness, a magick swept over me. I reconnected with the earth, the nature, the forests, the plants, the waters...and even some c...reatures in this fairy tale land. I took decaying leaves in my hands and had the time to inspect, admire and honour the process of death, regeneration and rebirth. And suddenly everyone was doing ZOOM parties...and I thought...well that makes me want to die! But I did it anyway, despite the anxiety and it was AWESOME. It felt for once like everyone was on my level...at home, wanting to go out but can't, trapped by a lockdown, trapped by anxiety- stuck. But people reached out like they never have before and suddenly I felt valid and cared for. It was a pretty special feeling. It has since faded...the zoom parties, the reaching out, the reconnections. But when it did happen, it had a big impact on my heart and on my soul. I know this time hasn't been easy. It honestly has been very difficult for me outside of this story I am telling. But maybe that one is for a different day. Be well friends, whatever your situation, and don't forget to keep checking in on the ones you love, even if they're a bit distant (both physically and emotionally) <3 <3 <3

06.01.2022 Bright early days call for crisp winter walks into the rainforest

05.01.2022 I can always recognize where the hoots and hollers that come from the playfulness the rope swing brings out of people

05.01.2022 This is probably the only thing I miss about summer I am so not a summer person, but I love getting my cheeky little mermaid tail on and having a cocktail in the sun before practicing my underwater mermaid tricks! How's your winter going?

04.01.2022 Mermaid mondays!

04.01.2022 Beauty in every corner. It's hard not to get lost in the enchantment

04.01.2022 It sure has been a while since I've posted here, but I am happy to say we have opened our doors to welcome guests again, slowly but surely! We are happy to have 1 family/couple/solo booking at a time, which means not only safety and comfort, but essentially the whole place to yourself! Slide into our bookings by heading to our website www.fallsretreat.com.au or if you prefer airbnb, you can find us there too! YAY!

04.01.2022 What's your favourite kind of view when you're looking out a window? I find it SO HARD to choose. I love our rainforest view, and my cottage garden view when I'm doing the washing up, but the kinds of views that make my heart thunder are dark stormy ocean views, rugged cliff-sides and the sound of waves. I love the view from a tent, when you open it in the early morning on the sand of a beach, poking your head out to hear the distant waves. OH BUT I ALSO die for snowy mountain views and bright blue lakes. I could never choose a single one, could you?

03.01.2022 I recently have been thinking a lot about who we are and what it means to visit us here. Our little holiday pads are decorated each in their own flavour, nothing too extreme, nothing too curated and nothing fancy, but instead you will find little reflections of what we enjoy in life, our art, our friends art - the subtle unique spice of our personalities residing in every nook and cranny of our place; the kind of things that give us great joy to share, but can feel quite vulnerable to put on display. Our way of life, our slow, long days and the orchestra of the land. Thats what it means to visit us, to learn to slow down, to be curious, to explore, to be inspired

03.01.2022 Trying to spot all the fairy houses on a walk into the bush

02.01.2022 I know things are always subject to change these days, and that's why we are being extra careful and have been since day 1 but it has been nice to think a little bit about which local businesses I will immediately support once I can and which small towns I'll go to visit. I'm so excited to be back in action, albeit a bit of a different world now! But what are your new local travel plans now that restrictions have somewhat lifted?

02.01.2022 This weather has just been amazingly refreshing! What a treat!

01.01.2022 Some of the wonderful things lined up for 2021! Can't wait to host Dawn and her magical events in our special little forest.

01.01.2022 So happy to return from Morocco to see shes thundering down!!!

01.01.2022 My favourite time of day! Coffee time!
