25.01.2022 Spent my Sunday soaking up some Adelaide countryside while zooming around in the gale force winds and sporadic rain showers to capture the @cyclingaustralia Macclesfield road race. The weather was all over the place but thankfully there were some really warming patches of sun throughout the day that I made sure to capture, but also stand in to stop myself from freezing! @ Macclesfield, South Australia

25.01.2022 Well Im finally back up to speed after a busy weekend of racing and shooting. After Friday nights track extravaganza, we got to double down with some dusty cross in the park thanks to @portadelaidecccx. While Im unsure if this will be the last of our racing for a while, as COVID has seemingly snuck back in to Adelaide, Ive been very grateful for what we had the chance to enjoy. Fingers crossed we get things under control and can have our State Championships next weekend! @ Bonython Park

24.01.2022 Had been craving a nice gravel ride through the hills and this morning absolutely quenched my thirst! @ Belair National Park

24.01.2022 My sunrise game is going particularly well this week. @ Mt Osmond Centre Track

23.01.2022 Ive always thought of bikes as a little bit more than just tools. More of a companion. A buddy. This view was probably part of the reason when I decided that I was going to get a bike built by @pelicano_blanco that I wanted something that I was going to share in adventures with for a long time to come. So far, were almost at 7 years and still going strong. A few things have worn out and been replaced, and the frame has been through its fair share of shit (probably literally...) and its starting to show, but thats honestly one of the things I love most about it. I wrote a little piece to accompany some photos I took that you can read over at the @speedvagen blog (theres a link in my bio). Im looking forward to many more years and countless adventures with this one. Have you got a bike that youve held onto that you love? @ Adelaide, South Australia See more

23.01.2022 Another double-whammy weekend of some track racing on Friday night, followed by some cyclocross racing on Sunday afternoon. If youre ever searching for a fun way to absolutely roast yourself, this is it. Big ups to @adelaidetrackleague for throwing us another sweet track party. Hopefully they can put on some more in a time where all our interstate friends can come and join rather than having to settle for the live stream. @ Adelaide Super-Drome

23.01.2022 After driving for 40 minutes to the trails to only realise I had forgotten to put my helmet in the car, I had resigned myself to a morning spent sitting in the car while my friends went riding. Luckily for me, one of said friends had a spare helmet in their car! So glad I got to get out and enjoy the sunshine and some beautiful dirt. @ Kersbrook MTB Trails

22.01.2022 Okay. Theres 24 hours left of the #SpeedvagenSVRCBLM fundraiser. Ive got 62.2kms left for my 500km goal and were currently sitting pretty at $3.16 per kilometre being donated straight to help Black Lives Matter. Lets give this one last push! Ill throw in a high-res copy of any photo Ive taken for anyone who pledges to donate or raises their current pledge before 11:59pm on Sunday the 14th of June. Done a race and had me tag you in a post and you dug the photo? Bam! $5 donation will get you a copy that you can print out and slap on your wall. Liked a photo of a road Ive taken? Bam! $5 and that could sit on your desktop as your getaway inspiration.

22.01.2022 Went out for a little course reccie with some good pals this morning as XC racing is back! Very thankful that we have the opportunity to race our bikes again here and am looking forward to suffering for 60 minutes tomorrow. @ Anstey Hill Recreation Park

21.01.2022 Gamblin with the rain clouds and coming out on top. @ Mt Osmond Centre Track

21.01.2022 We must enact change. We must listen. We must support, everyday. #blackouttuesday

20.01.2022 Its been a long while since @caztheturtle and I have been out a good mini-adventure. Last week Caz finished her mid-year exams so finally had some free time for the first time in months. So we decided to celebrate and spent all day out on our bikes taking a gamble on some roads that thankfully paid off. The weather started off a little grim but the sun eventually came out and we got to recon a beaut little route that is planned for a Spring campout ride in a few months. @ Para Wirra Conservation Park

19.01.2022 Last weekend was chock full of State Champs! After the State Road champs on Saturday, we got to back it up with CX State Champs on the Sunday (I heard rumours of some people even attempting to do both the TT Champs and then CX on the same day). Thanks to @portadelaidecccx for delivery a true pain fest of a course which I swear was 80% deep mulch. My legs still hurt. @ Adelaide High School

19.01.2022 Going to be playing catch up for few days with photos after such a busy weekend of racing and shooting! Friday night finally saw the first round of @adelaidetrackleague hit the Adelaide Superdrome. I havent raced track in probably 5 or 6 years so I jumped at the opportunity to smash around the boards again. Shockingly, racing a busy schedule and trying to photograph the other races in between was quite a handful but stoked to walk away with some snaps and good few races under my belt. Big congrats to @cyclingsouthaus for putting on such a fun event! @ Adelaide Super-Drome

19.01.2022 Good to be back on the sunrise game with ol mate @hellcomeshome

19.01.2022 Well, that was probably my last ride outside with friends again for a little bit so thankfully @hellcomeshome and I were treated to a pretty nice sunrise and a beaut view over our little city. @ Horsnell Gully Conservation Park

18.01.2022 After struggling to find a wheel to make my CX bike work on the trainer (yet another reason why I wish we had a direct-drive @wahoofitnessofficial trainer) @caztheturtle got fed up of my complaining and whipped me up a ripper outer suburban loop for me to take on a solo adventure. I must say, shes pretty good at this! I got too many tunnels to count, beautiful gravel trails through a seemingly never-ending wetland, windy paths along a river and a super fun little single track section to finish things off. Quite a nice way to round out the weekend! @ Greenfields Wetland

18.01.2022 @focusxpedla are back with a new look and some fresh faces. Met up with some of the crew earlier in the week for a sunrise shoot in the chilly Adelaide hills. Shooting short sleeve jerseys in the middle of Winter is always a fun challenge (maybe not for the riders though ). Looking forward to seeing them rip up a CX course hopefully in the near future! @ Norton Summit, South Australia

18.01.2022 Sat on these ones for probably a little too long but hey, sometimes life requires more bandwidth than photo sets. Regardless, had a good ol’ time down at Aldinga Beach with @cyclingsuperseries again last weekend. Another grey day couldn’t dampen my spirits! The Super Series is aaaallllllmost over with another round tomorrow, this time on a freshly built link road out North. Closed to traffic and featuring a handful of short but spicy bergs, it should provide quite a different energy to Aldinga. @ Aldinga Beach

17.01.2022 Okay. Time to start doing something. Tomorrow starts the week where I'll be using my bike rides to raise funds to donate to the BLM movement. I'm calling upon you, my lovely friends and followers to help raise funds for @blklivesmatter and help be part of the change we need to end systemic racism. From Monday June 8th until Sunday Jun 14th I will be aiming to ride 500kms. I'll keep my goal accessible so you know what kind of donation you're making. Say you decide to donate 1...0c/KM, that would be a $50 donation by week's end. Friends, family, followers, and brands, I am asking you to pledge anything you can per KM that I ride. Even a single cent per KM will help. Comment below, DM, or email me to make a pledge. Please share this and spread the word. The more people we get pledging, the more donations we can make. There is also a raffle with contributions from @chriskingbuzz @eastoncycling @sramroad @envecomposites @otterbox @vittoriatires @wahoofitnessofficial and two complete @speedvagen bikes and every $5 that you end up pledging will earn you a ticket in the draw. I will ask that your pledge goes directly to the George Floyd Memorial Fund at the end of the campaign, or one of the following charities. @blklivesmatter @aclu_nationwide @naacp_ldf #ChangeTheRecord

17.01.2022 Dusty gravel roads. Big clear blue skies. Open rolling farmland. This weekend saw another edition of the @cyclingsouthaus Copper Coast Cup. Saturday played host to the ever popular Wallaroo road race, which takes in a selection of gravel roads around the area. I do love a good bit of peloton chasing - trying to pick which random gravel back road is going to be the best shortcut for me to beat the bunch to the next photo spot! @ Wallaroo, South Australia

16.01.2022 Flicking back through old Dropbox folders and realising that I do own a very lovely little Contax 35mm camera and that shooting with it was heaps of fun and the reward of getting a roll back and flicking through memories was one of the best things. Posting this in the hope that it inspires me to literally blow the dust off it and shoot some rolls again. @ Somewhere out in the Middle of Nowhere

16.01.2022 Even when I get to the race suuuuuuppper late and I have zero motivation to shoot, theres always enough little pockets of light of friendly pals to snap away at to keep me happy. @ Pakapakanthi parkrun

15.01.2022 My god juniors can shred these days. Back out on the dirt with @adelaidemtbclub for round one of their XCO series and the future of MTBing in Adelaide is looking pretty fast and stylin! @ Anstey Hill Recreation Park

14.01.2022 Pat and I were spoilt with cotton candy skies this morning to distract us from it being 3. @ Mt Osmond Centre Track

13.01.2022 I cant wait to get back on the boards for a good bit of track racing this Friday night! After being put on hold when COVID-19 hit Adelaide, @adelaidetrackleague is thankfully able to launch this week! My good friends at @cyclingsouthaus have been pouring a lot of hours into bringing a fun, exciting atmosphere to some local track racing. I had the pleasure of providing some images for their promotional packages and Ill be spending my Friday night jumping between racing arou...nd the velodrome and then hopping behind the lens to capture some of the excitement! If youre interested in racing, come down and have some fun! Theres a mix of endurance and sprint events and multiple grades so theres an option for everyone. And if you dont feel like racing but are in Adelaide, come down for the party vibes and spectate. Tickets are $5 and therell be a bar, multiple delicious food trucks and a DJ to keep everything pumpin. And if youre not local and cant come down, theres going to be a live stream of the racing that youll be able to access. So keep your eyes peeled to the Adelaide Track League Instagram for more info on that. Hopefully Ill see some friendly faces in the stands! @ Adelaide Super-Drome

12.01.2022 Some snaps from the @cyclingsouthaus hill climb last weekend. While events may not yet be quite the same as they were, Im very thankful and happy to be back at bike races taking photos. Especially when theyre wet and foggy like this was. @ Pound Road

10.01.2022 With a sudden influx of racing popping up on our local calendars, Ive got a lot of skill cramming to do! @ Adelaide Super-Drome

10.01.2022 #TrackIsBack couldnt be more appropriate! After a ripper round 1, @adelaidetrackleague is coming back to the Adelaide Superdrome for round 2. The party vibes from the first round were too good so Im super excited to race and shoot again on Friday night! If youre in Adelaide youd be silly not to come down for a heckle and some snacks and beverages as tickets are only $5! And for all you interstate/international friends, therell be a live stream happening again! @ Adelaide Super-Drome

10.01.2022 And with Sundays hot, sunny and dusty cross race, we bid farewell to our short and strange local cyclocross series for the year. This is usually the point where I would get my stoke, bundle it up and flick it over my friends in the Northern Hemisphere. Sadly, most of them wont get a CX season this year. While our season may have been smaller than usual, Im very grateful for the races @portadelaidecccx was able to give us. Looking forward to hopefully getting to share a Cross season globally next year! @ Adelaide Super-Drome

09.01.2022 A bit of gravel and a slice of @chlosveganclub lemon polenta cake for breakfast.

08.01.2022 I spent almost 9 hours in the baking sun, with nowhere to hide and I somehow avoided getting sunburnt. I’m chalking it all down to my @goodsport_magazine x @nocomplyco long sleeve tee and my @efprocycling Saharah hat. This is truly groundbreaking stuff. But, to the point I guess: here’s some more photos of some more bicycle racing. Unlike most of the other races of this year’s @cyclingsuperseries, round 7 featured almost exclusively hills which was probably a rude shock to most of the riders. A small break this weekend before the second last round back in Unley for more tree climbing fun. @ Gawler, South Australia

08.01.2022 I think my favourite thing about the flurry of end-of-year photo comps that pop up within the cycling sphere, is it’s always the perfect excuse to look back through my year and relive a whole bunch of memories I had neglected. It’s always challenging to try and encapsulate 12 months in 3 images, but the memories are always worth it. These were my selections for the @strava Year In Sport competition. Given the lack of ‘normality’ for cycling photography from a traditional sens...e, the brief was to share a image for ‘road’, ‘dirt’ and ‘portrait’ that portrayed your year. Dirt - just before our first lockdown back in April, I went out on a gravel adventure with a good bunch of friends which would turn out to be my last big adventure for most of the year. I remember us all on the train to the start of the loop, talking about COVID and what we thought the world was going to be like. I didn’t expect that I would be looking back fondly on the stitch ups in that ride for so many months. Portrait - 2020 kicked off about as normal as always as the Tour Down Under Circus rolled through Adelaide and I once again got to follow the women’s race around - which is honestly one of my favourite things every year. Pictured, @taylerwiles readies herself before another hot and fast stage. Sadly the WTDU won’t be quite the same this year and I’m honestly pretty bummed about it. Road - the normality that I usually have with morning rides vanished for a lot of this year and I struggled to find the groove again. However when ever I did manage to get out, the sunrises all seemed sweeter, as I wasn’t really sure how many I’d be getting to see, so I made sure to soak all of them up with extra awe. I hope you all got something out of your year in sport, despite the hurdles it may have included. Looking forward to another weird year in sport for 2021. @ Adelaide, South Australia

06.01.2022 What an absolutely lovely morning to ride bikes outside. It’s been a while, and perhaps this assisted in the many joyous feelings. Not even having to wake up at 5am after getting way too comfortable with sleeping in could ruin it! @ Norton Summit, South Australia

06.01.2022 I would be lying if I said shooting round 5 of the @cyclingsouthaus @cyclingsuperseries at @thebendmotorsportpark was easy. Because surprise surprise, it wasn’t. It didn’t suit my shooting style at all. I would have been over the moon if the whole race was staged entirely within pit lane, but that’s an absolute absurd request so let’s just pretend I didn’t ask for that. I’m looking forward to a weekend off shooting this week. I could feel myself starting to dislike almost every photo I took due to the monotonous feelings creeping in. I need to be thankful that I have any racing at all to shoot though. So I’m going to enjoy a weekend of bike riding and come back to round 6 full of energy and fresh eyes! @ The Bend Motorsport Park

05.01.2022 Saturday saw me out in the Adelaide hills for a very long day of running around a rad new course for the State Road Champs. With impending rain forecast almost all week, the big cloud mood that we got instead was a welcome alternative. Thanks to the gang at @cyclingsouthaus for having me again! @ Mypolonga, South Australia, Australia

05.01.2022 Jumping back into updating my @exposure with a bunch of stories that I never got around to giving any proper screen time last year. Looking back to July 2019 for Round 3 of the @gravityenduro_sa series. I borderline hate riding at Eagle MTB park but flicking through them again, I probably like my photos from here the most of all the other parks that were raced at last year. Check the link in my bio to go and scroll through the full post! As always, I recommend a computer screen over your phone! @ Eagle Mountain Bike Park

05.01.2022 Aaaaand were done! $1745 raised going straight to support Black Lives Matter organisations! A massive thank you to everyone who donated. Right now is a very difficult time to be asking people to donate money, so Im deeply appreciative of every cent that people pledged over the last week. Its pretty neat what happens when we pull together as a community. A thank you to everyone who shared my posts. A thank you to everyone who I rode with who kept me going. A thank you to al...l the other Speedvagen owners getting KMs in to raise more money. A thank you to everyone standing up to fight against the systemic racism that is rampant everywhere. I think the thing I hope people take away most from this, is this fight doesnt end here. Sure, what we did this week was needed, but we must carry this momentum and devotion and ingrain it into our daily existence. Hold our brands accountable. Call out our co-workers, friends and family. Listen, and educate ourselves. We must be part of the fight if we expect to see change - and we need to see change. To everyone who pledged, thank you again, and Ill be in touch this evening/tomorrow to talk through donations with you. Black. Lives. Matter.

05.01.2022 After sitting in the house, for almost a month since I took it out of the box and put it together, I finally got to take my new bike out for a ride! Damn, bouncy bikes are fun. Having come from a rigid single-speed into a hardtail, this double serving of squish is going to take some getting used to but Im already hitting jumps that I never would have dreamed of riding off on my hardtail. Looking forward to getting acquainted with it some more over the coming months! Thanks for making a rad bike @konabikes! @ Kersbrook MTB Trails

05.01.2022 Look, Ill be honest, driving 70 minutes for an XCO race at a bunch of trails youve never ridden before, only to slice your tyre two laps in and have to DNF kinda sucks, but it did give me the opportunity to take some extra snaps of the racing which was nice! Thanks to @adelaidemtbclub for putting on another sweet event! @ Kinchina, South Australia, Australia

05.01.2022 Some recent work for the crew over at @thepedla is now live. A few weeks ago, a few pals and I loaded up our CX bikes, hoped on a train and took it to the end of the line. We jumped off and went for a little adventure down the coast, onto the beaches and then into the hills via some wonderful gravel roads. Thanks to @sopphhiiieee @tessa.p.m @luke_finny & @mattbird for being excellent riding company and a breeze to shoot and thanks to @marcin_wojcik for taking me onboard for the project. I really love these shoots from the bike as I get to enjoy the adventure as well as capture it. @ Willunga, South Australia

04.01.2022 Our CX season (amazingly) kicked off over the weekend, which given the current situation globally, Im still not entirely sure how we got where we are, but Ill take it. Felt very rusty both behind the lens and on the bike, but couldnt be happier to be back crouching in bushes and drifting through sand. If I could shoot cross races for a living, Id do it in a heartbeat. Heres hoping we continue on our positive trend and can see out the remainder of the season. @ Adelaide Super-Drome

03.01.2022 I will never experience racism. This is a privilege that I was born with as a white man and a reality that I have spent the 28 years of my life learning to understand. I am sad. I am angry. But this is all I am. I am also safe. I am safe because of the colour of my skin. Unfortunately the reality is that not everyone has this same comfort - as much as they should. The actions that took #GeorgeFloyd s life disgust me, as I hope they do for you. However, theres more construct...ive things that I, that we, can do. Take our anger and our sadness and channel it away. Take it and turn it into action. Listen to our black communities. Our friends, our idols, our leaders. This time is for us white people to listen to what we need to do to destroy this system of hate based on colour. If you have the means, donate money to organisations that are supporting BLM causes. Support brands and businesses run and owned by black people. Support the brands that are supporting the black community - and silence the ones who are not. Raise up and amplify the positive black voices - and deafen the hateful white ones. Most of all, call out and silence racism in our lives. We must use this time to listen, learn, empathise, support and strengthen. Im far from perfect at this - few of us are - but that doesnt mean we cant be better. And for those of you with me here in Australia, I hope that we can take this experience and direct its lessons inward, to the same horrific realities faced by Indigenous Australians every day. The most poignant thing I am taking away from this at the time that Im writing this is the attention I must give to the atrocities happening in my own home. Whilst I may not have been intentionally palming things off, I certainly could have been doing a lot more to be constructive. We are not exempt from racism and we need to stop pretending like we are. #BlackLivesMatter #AntiRacism

02.01.2022 I have a rule with myself - if the forecast for the next morning mentions fog - make sure to get the hell up and go for a ride! While the fog may have only been present for my ride to the meetup for the actual ride, it still made for some pretty views from the hills. @ Montacute, South Australia, Australia

02.01.2022 The best thing about the @cyclingsouthaus Copper Coast Cup? Back to back racing! Okay, maybe it’s not the best bit, but it’s a good bit for sure. After tackling the dusty back roads of Wallaroo, the racing heads to Moonta for a fast and furious crit on the footsteps of a really cool church. The racing was fast, as expected and I surprisingly managed to avoid sunburn, which I was personally quite proud of. Looking forward to another race this Sunday out at a nearby Motorsport complex. The wiiiiiide track is going to be weird to work with, but I’m hoping I can get something out of it. @ Moonta, South Australia

02.01.2022 Very stoked to have the chitter-chatter of my good riding buddies back. Today we raced the storm and won and were treated to blue skies all morning. Im not so sure if Id chalk the 35km/h head/crosswinds down as a win though. @ Cudlee Creek, South Australia
