Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart." - Acts 2:36-37

This is an initiative that seeks to support and create awareness for fa...milies who have been affected by the loss of a child. If you would like to support Katrina in this great initiative, we would encourage you to financially assist her to reach her goal. More information about her walk can be found here: https://walkyourway.choosinghope.com.au//KatrinaClement-45 If you are a bereaving parent yourself, we'd encourage you to get a copy of the 'My Tears In Your Bottle' resource that has been produced by the Bible Society. 15.01.2022 A great day for our children moving into high school

15.01.2022 Dear Church Family, Now that the COVID-19 has made its way into the Hunter Valley, new procedures are being implemented to help contain the virus. While this i...s a season of anxiety, please be reassured by the reality of God’s comforting presence. 1. The AGM on Sunday the 22nd of March is suspended until further notice. All current office holders including churchwardens, synod representatives and incumbency board members remain in place. The Churchwardens will now form an Executive Committee of Parish Council with myself. This committee will be empowered to ensure that the parish is managed. The committee will also contact the Bishop if they are concerned about my wellbeing. 2. The St. Luke’s Hall will no longer be in use. All hall bookings will be cancelled: this also includes all other church ministries. The hall can only be accessed by the Parish Council. 3. Strathearn Services and visitations are cancelled until further notice. Since the elderly are the most vulnerable now, they are being strategically isolated. To ensure that our pastoral presence is maintained, Leigh Rowney and Jean Keeping are writing letters to the residents and pastoral staff. Only ordained clergy will be able to visit the residents. 4. New update: Baptism celebrations in a large worship gathering are now suspended until further notice. We are now exploring the possibility of private baptisms in a small group context. 5. All Church services are cancelled until further notice. + Peter has said, Earlier today the GPs of the Hunter region joined with other medical practitioners urged citizens to take unprecedented action for their self-care and the care of the communityWith an immense sense of grief but with an equal sense of responsibility, I have decided that we should suspend all public worship in our churches. This includes all the Easter services. 6. Since all ‘face-to-face’ services are cancelled, we are going online. As one minister said, church isn’t really cancelled, it’s just different. + Peter also said, The bishops of NSW and this Diocese are encouraging all our churches to consider innovative care. This is a time for Christians to be innovative in their ministries of care, worship and teaching. We live in an age of unparalleled technological resources to demonstrate love and care. Since we desire for God’s people to continue to grow in their faith, our innovative solution will be to create a home church experience. Our weekly church service will be uploaded on the Scone Anglican Facebook page and our new Scone Anglican YouTube channel. This simplified church service will be posted on Saturday evening. A reminder email will also be sent out. This email will include: - a kids’ ministry resource kit - a copy of the order of service - a copy of the sermon transcript - a link to our sermon podcast In the meantime, please prepare a space in your home for worship. 7. Since we now must self-isolate, we are innovating our approach to pastoral care and discipleship. We are currently creating 12 COVID-19 Support Groups which will be led by several leaders. These leaders will be tasked with follow up, prayer and encouragement and providing discipleship and worship resources. Once our leaders are selected, they will get into contact with you. 8. Continue to support the church financially if you can. Since our regular meetings will not be taking place, our income stream may be weakened, making our Parish vulnerable. Please consider transitioning to giving online or putting aside some money each week for a significant offering in the future. Our online giving details are provided below: - BSB: 705 077 - ACC: 00040522 - Name: Anglican Parish of Scone 9. We must be a people committed to bringing renewal in a time of worldwide anxiety. Fr Glen Hughes, from the Parish of Murrurundi, has offered some helpful suggestions: - Do obey the directions of the authorities (see Romans 13), and ensure you follow good hygiene practise. - Make time for daily prayer and reflection on Holy Scripture and other good Christian texts and teachings. - Check on your neighbours, particularly the isolated or elderly. Use the phone or internet if we can't have contact in person and actively assist them where you are able to do so safely. - Don't hoard or gather resources unnecessarily, and always look to share what you have with those who are without. - Pray for those who are sick or dying; the bereaved; medical professionals and carers who are on the front line; those charged with decision making at this time and those who are working for a vaccine or cure for COVID-19. Final Thoughts Friends, as we prepare to make some serious changes, please know that you are in our prayers. If you are anxious about anything, please don't hesitate to contact one of our executive team members: Jeanette Brink, Helen Gardner, Lyndal Buckley and myself. In the meantime, support me by spreading this letter throughout our Parish. Let me close this letter with a prayer: Heavenly Father, your son traveled through towns and villages curing every disease and illness. At your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the coronavirus, that we may experience your healing love. Heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care. Heal us from our fear, which prevents nations from working together and neighbours from helping one another. Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders. Amen. Blessings in Christ, Rev. Jesse Baker E: [email protected]
