07.01.2022 https://www.childrens.health.qld.gov.au//natur/storybooks/ This week we have been making wildlife pouches for recovering bush fire animals. The children were keen to help and it gave me an opportunity to not only show compassion for others and the environment but explain about the fires (see book above). We also practiced our fire drill and followed up with some role play (putting out pretend fires, felt and magnetic story boards and fire trucks). ... Quite frankly I found this a very emotional task, but I believe that not only are we helping in this small way, we can start making sense of our feelings and opening up discussion about what is happening in our community.
