Relax on the property or visit local attractions or sample some fine produce in the area. Only 25 minutes to Hobart . Bakery, selling organic wood-fired sourdough breads plus pastries and excellent coffee. Ranelagh General Store offers gourmet burgers, fries and calamari, as well as great iced coffees.... Home Hill Winery is also just up the road at Ranelagh, offering boutique local wines and gourmet meals. In 2015, Home Hill Wines won two major trophies at the Royal Melbourne Wine Awards. You can also visit Hartzview, Elsewhere, Panorama and St Imre vineyards in the Huon Valley. Huon Jet Boats are based at nearby Huonville. For the family, Huon Valley Caravan Park and you can walk through the apple orchards, watch the pigs being fed, hand-feed the chickens, sheep and goats, watch the cows being milked and cheese making demonstrations. Across the river at Glen Huon is the Pelican Point alpaca farm, which also welcomes visitors. The Huonville outdoor heated public pool is also a hidden gem with 50 metre pool, undercover seating and plenty of lawn to relax on. Other regional attractions include the Tahune Airwalk and nearby Eagle Hanglider flying fox. On the way to Tahune, you can stop at Geeveston for lunch and check out the Forest and Heritage Centre. Masaaki's is a must for sushi lovers. Further south are Hastings Caves and thermal pool, and the historic Ida Bay Railway. The Wooden Boat Centre is located in the quaint village of Franklin, along with Village Antiques. Franklin is just 10 minutes from Ranelagh and provides excellent access to the Huon River waterfront. Try Franklin Marine for fishing supplies and advice. At picturesque Cygnet you'll find plenty of fine local food, galleries, arts and crafts, and second-hand stores. Farm gate sales are available from the nearby Nicholls Rivulet Organic Farm. To relax, try Huon Natural Healthcare for reflexology, massage therapies and herbal medicine. Also in the Huon is Willie Smiths Organic Apple Cider, the largest organic apple orchard in Australia and the makers of Willie Smiths Organic Apple Cider and Stonehouse Craft Cider. You can visit them at The Apple Shed museum, cider house and cafe on the Huon Highway. Another cider house and cafe is Frank's at Franklin, and cellar door sales are available from Pagan Cider at Cygnet. For whisky lovers, try Tasmanian premium whiskies at the Lark Distillery on Davey St in Hobart, or the Nant Whisky Bar at Salamanca.
