I have decorated the dark corner with figures like 'insects' ' whales/sharks' 'Animals', etc. Children made some 'nocturnal animals' such as 'bats' 'possums' 'snakes', etc, to decorate the area, too. They enjoy using torches to point at their own works and figures.... We are also learning about planets. They enjoy the planets song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQrlgH97v94 So I printed out planet colouring pages for them to colour and placed them on our ceiling. Learning how to use a magnifying glass. - They all put right in front of their eye. I told them to place near the object they want to see. (And reminded them not to drop it on the silkworms!) 3. 15.01.2022 Extension of the colour sorting/posting activity which I posted on 22nd Nov 2017. I positioned the tubes diagonally and made it into a game. One posts pompoms and the other catches them with a racket. They have been enjoying this game for some time.... This week, I added an egg tray which has a number 1-3 and -1 on each hole. Children post the pompoms and let them fall on the tray. Addition - Take out the pompoms one by one and add the numbers (Extension program for 5 years old) Then : Introduce a gadget : calculator - I instructed them step by step where to press. As they (soon-to-be 3 years old - 5 years old) have been learning numbers and can recognise them on the calculator pad, I say "Press 2, then press +", "Press 3, then press +" etc. Count the pompoms fell into "-1", then minus the number at the end to find their score. They did well and loved it.

14.01.2022 Dental Health A mother approached me and said "My son started refusing to brush his teeth since 2,3 nights ago. Can you please talk to him? He will listen to you" (Really?!?!) Anyway, I planned a few activities to promote brushing teeth. 1. Brushing teeth game - (Preparation) Printed out a big mouth with teeth. Wrote numbers 1-6 randomly. Covered the numbers with black rocks. Placed white rocks on other teeth. (How to play) Children were to brush their teeth (shake the dic...e container with a paper toothbrush attached), read the dice (counting dots), spot the correct numbered white rock. Replace the black rock which has the same number underneath (a bit of memory game. Where was number 6? etc.) with the white one. Keep repeating the process until all the black (dirty) teeth turn into white (clean) teeth. 2. Craft - Making a toothbrush - Childrens request - They saw the paper toothbrush I attached to the dice container and wanted to make one for themselves. Making fine snips (the brush part) on the thick paper (cereal box: recycle) was not easy. Good practice for scissors skill and hand muscle. 3. Craft - Paper bag puppet - Placing white cut-outs as teeth. The young ones started placing the cut-outs everywhere randomly. I opened my mouth and said "You have teeth on the top and bottom only.
