25.01.2022 It is cook up time! I’m making soup for lunches, yoghurt for breakfasts and hummus for snacks. Kids are baking. The kitchen is a god-awful mess but it feels good to be provisioning!

25.01.2022 We've been eating a lot of omelettes at our house... and boiled eggs, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, quiche... Our gorgeous girls have been laying an egg each a day, give or take, all through the winter. What champions! Four chooks, one egg each a day - that is a dozen every 3 days. 23.01.2022 Making up a batch of natural spray cleaner. This is a really, really awesome recipe I have used for many years now. 1L water 2 Tbsp washing soda (dissolved in 1 cup hot water) 300mL vinegar 3 Tbsp dishwashing liquid or Liquid Castile soap... 1 Tbsp eucalyptus oil I use Castile Soap now for an all natural product but detergent works just as well. 22.01.2022 I meant to post this a month or so ago but it slipped through the net! L'Oreal is aiming to remove all non-recyclable plastic packaging, switch to 95 per cent bio-based ingredients, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 per cent and recycle 100 per cent of the water used in its factories. This is good news! It is so reassuring to see big companies like this taking sustainability seriously.

Say "no" to the plastic bag at the shops, say "no" to the upsell, say "no" to immediately upgrading your phone, say "no thank you" to 'physical thing' gifts, say "no" to society's pressure to 'keep up with the Joneses'. 03.01.2022 A while ago I posted a how-to to make reusable makeup remover wipes. I've now also added a recipe for making makeup remover lotion to use with your removable wipes. As ever, make sure this is suitable for your skin before using. Just another way to reduce plastic use and waste in the bathroom.

02.01.2022 Mmmmm, is it beer-o-clock yet? One way that we save plastic waste is to use a Soda Stream for our drinks. We don't drink a lot of soft drink but I do love a Gin and Tonic and the kids also like a 'special' drink of a weekend. I love that we can buy these @ lower sugar soda syrups for our Soda Stream in glass bottles at our local IGA supermarket. Ticks all the boxes!
