25.01.2022 Thinking of fighting it out with your ex-partner in court? In my experience as a family lawyer and mediator, its rarely worth it when you take into account the financial and emotional costs. Litigation is off the table for me. Instead, Peace Talks Family Law & Mediation takes a co-operative approach to resolve family law matters quickly and at minimum expense both financial and emotional.

24.01.2022 https://www.easyseparations.com.au Peace Talks Family Law & Mediation now offers an innovative service for clients who want to resolve parenting and/or property matters with their former partner quickly and amicably. The Easy Separation process is a collaborative joint venture with another local law firm, Briese Lawyers. Follow the link to the website for details.

23.01.2022 Parenting apart doesn't have to equate to a "broken" family. This young woman's story demonstrates that children of separated parents can enjoy happy childhoods and grow up to be well adjusted adults. The key is co-operative parenting.

19.01.2022 Well said Michael Maguire. As much as a parent might want their child to understand their perspective, no child wants or deserves to be in the middle of their parents conflict.

11.01.2022 What a great initiative.

08.01.2022 One in 6 Australians report feeling lonely. A small gesture if kindness could make all the difference.

07.01.2022 Fast Family Law Fact #1 The divorce rate in Australia has actually fallen in the 21st century. 2016 was the lowest divorce rate since 1976. In 1976 it was 4.6 per 1000 Australian residents, compared with 1.9 per 1000 in 2016. This could have something to do with the marriage rate falling from 9.3 per 1000 residents in 1970 and 4.9 in 2016. The highest divorce rate is in the 25-29 year age group, with the second highest being the 45-49 year age group. #familylaw

05.01.2022 #2 Divorce does not alter property interests. It does however start the clock ticking for a property settlement. If either party intends to make an application to a Court for property settlement, they have up until one year after the date of divorce. To avoid the possibility of Court, the best option is to negotiate a property settlement soon after separation.
