18.01.2022 (A note from Shaya Lewis-Dermody) WE'VE CHANGED! Today, Elham Rabbah joins me as a business partner and Director. Last month marked the 8 year anniversary of The Family Law Project (The FLP). I started The FLP following my frustration working in the private sector. I have always struggled charging clients by 6 minute intervals rather than focusing on outcomes and transparent relationships. I also failed to understand why Legal Aid clients were not able to receive the same rep...resentation as private clients. I have never fit in with the conservative nature of the legal profession and have tended to move away from that model. The FLP started in a 30m2 Adelaide office and I recall with pride serving my first client. I was wearing all of the hats at that time: I made the coffee, cleaned the office, put the bins out, did all of the administration work and of course all of the legal work! Running a business as a sole practitioner can be hard work. Over time, the business has grown and certainly matured and I am really proud to have the team that we have today. Growing a successful business requires a team with the same values and work ethic. We have a team that is absolutely client and outcome focused. Today, we have clients all over Australia and are becoming more established as a National firm. Most of our current clients know Elham well. If I were to describe myself as the heart of The FLP then Elham is certainly the soul! Our values align and we both obsess over ensuring our clients are cared for. It makes sense for us to enter the next phase together to continue to grow and improve the business. Together, we will continue to make improvements to our client journey and continue to grow the business to help more clients. Elham was admitted as a lawyer almost 10 years ago and has been working on and off with The FLP for past 7 years. Elham, your hard work and absolute dedication to The FLP family means that there is nobody else I would take this journey with. Thank you to all of the staff for their continued support and of course to you, our clients, for allowing us to represent you. Shaya
