12.01.2022 Interesting extract on Alexander MacDonald and his bother Dennis when they returned from the Boer War in 1902, and the celebration that the small town of Mogo organised to welcome them back http://members.pcug.org.au/~croe/ozb/oz_boer_more.cgi
11.01.2022 Today is the 100th anniversary of women in the UK winning the right to vote. The National Library of Australia is celebrating with a new exhibition: Deeds Not ...Words: Womens Suffrage in Britain, open from 6 February to 19 August. https://www.nla.gov.au//deeds-not-words-womens-suffrage-in This 1914 photo shows English suffragettes escorted by two lines of police after an attempt to bring the issue to the King. About 50 women and 12 men were arrested. One of the women in the back of the procession looks like shes trying to knock off a policemans hat - no wonder they apparently needed three policemen to escort each individual suffragette. https://trove.nla.gov.au/version/228826703 (State Library of South Australia)

05.01.2022 Further information - walking to Pigeon House For anyone interested the Saturday 3 October (day before the family reunion in Milton) a few people are walking to... the top of Pigeon House. It takes about 40 minutes to drive to the Pigeon House carpark from Milton Showground. The walk is about 5km - there and back but it is up, then down :-). It takes about 1 hour and a half each way. I am thinking we would leave Milton showground somewhere around 9 am or 10 am. Anyone is welcome to join us See more
