24.01.2022 Family Matters Chair Sue-Anne Hunter: "A commissioner role should conform with the Paris Principles the human rights guidelines set out by the United Nations. It should be established by legislation and be granted appropriate functions and powers to promote change and accountability through inquiry and investigation. "We are confident that Commissioner Lawrie can move forward in ensuring our children have the right to be heard and the government are kept accountable to the Family Matters and Closing the Gap targets to reduce the over-representation of our kids in out-of-home care." https://www.snaicc.org.au/snaicc-and-family-matters-commen/

Who may not be seeing their Grandmother or Grandfather. Who may not yet get the chance to Walk on their Country. We must collectively work together to ensure our children and families are supported so that they are happy, healthy and safe strong in culture. We look forward to working with you all towards this aim in #2021. Family Matters Chair Sue-Anne Hunter signing off for #2020. Image credit: Lauren Hutchinson
