23.01.2022 Most recent advice below: if you are well continue with your daily life, go to work and school, if you are unwell then stay home. This is good advice for dealing with a stressful event. Continue with your normal routines unless you can't. The normal rhythm of life is helpful in calming our stress and containing our fears. Keep calm, carry on and wash bloomin' ya hands.

23.01.2022 Well folks, it's happening. As a parent I'm feeling a bit daunted, but also a little curious about what postive suprises this might bring me and my family. How can we best support you and your families with this new experience? Info/Groups/ Consultations???

20.01.2022 Connecting and understanding can be the most powerful healing tools.

20.01.2022 Time in nature is great for our wellbeing. Slowing down, being in the moment and connecting with the expanse nature.

20.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE In line with DHHS and WHO recommendations, we have established arrangements to do what we can to support the efforts to minimise the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). We are taking a 'keep calm and carry on' approach. We will be regularly disinfecting our toys/surroundings, monitoring our own health, and will be encouraging clients attending the building to use the hand sanitiser in the waiting room/or wash hands upon entering or leaving. If you, your child o...r accompanying children are unwell with cold like symptoms or you are in self-quarantine due to overseas flights or exposure please do not attend your session. We can offer telehealth services instead. If your clinician is unwell we will be cancelling the session, or if they are self quarantined, we will be offering telehealth services to maintain the services. Telehealth services are accessed by the internet and will require a camera and microphone (e.g., on an iPad or computer). For younger children, this will need to be parent and child, or just parent session as the younger children will be unlikely to remain engaged via video conference for the whole session. We will likely be providing shorter sessions for younger children, with written notes emailed as a follow up to maximise the use of your full session time. If you/your child is unable to attend due to cold symptoms, a diagnosis or self quarantine, please contact your clinician or admin or Katherine to discuss your options. If you attend the session and you, your child, or accompanying children are visibly experiencing cold symptoms, the session will be cancelled. We are not enforcing late cancellation fees if you contact us before 9am on the day of your appointment and make alternative arrangements. If you miss the session or contact us within hours of the session (and after 9am) you will be sent a late cancellation fee. For more information please see: https://www.familyminded.com.au/telehealth-funding.html

15.01.2022 This is a quick resource families will find useful to help them to talk their kids about the current circumstances in child friendly ways. It also covers what you might expect to see with your children if they are stressed or anxious.

13.01.2022 COVID-19 may strain even the best co-parenting relationships. "Dr Sharman says coronavirus "is going to inflame some tensions", that doesn't mean parents can't find good ways to handle them. She's encouraging people to "try and take the high ground". "It's not about you. We're in the middle of a global pandemic. It is about your kids," she says.

12.01.2022 We are very excited to have moved to our new home. We have missed our Village Therapy collegues and we are delighted to back together with them in their lovely, bright & shiny new clinic. Hopefully, we will all be back in the office together soon.

11.01.2022 We are growing our team! Please share among your networks.

09.01.2022 Don't wait for your child's permission to parent them, also don't be surprised or too harsh when they protest.

06.01.2022 I know parents are apprehensive about Term 2 and how learning from home will work. I’ll admit, as a father of three school aged kids, I am a little bit as well! This is a message to all the parents out there.

06.01.2022 Here is a great follow up article from last night's post about giving kids space for their feels. Here are some ideas for how to support kids during moments with the big feels.

04.01.2022 This is so very true. As a parent, it is such a relief to know I don't have to fix my child's feelings. By accepting their feelings my own anxiety settles and makes it easier to just sit with the distress one human is expressing with another. It's when we try to control feelings that behaviour gets out of hand and can become a difficult pattern to undo. I'm not always able to sit back and let their feelings happen freely because my own get in the way, but I try to do it as often as I can. I've never regretted giving space for feelings, but have regretted trying to control them.

01.01.2022 This. Wise words from Chloe Hayden -Princess Aspien-.

01.01.2022 PLEASE SHARE While Facebook and TikTok are full of jokes about how annoyed we are all getting with our loved ones, the reality of this increased tension will be becoming much more serious for some members of our community. If you are male and are worried about your increasing anger/frustration towards your loved ones. ACT NOW.... Be brave, take action, protect yourself and your family. Violence is never OK, it is never excusable and it can escalate quickly into extremely high risk incidents, and cause long lasting damage to children - even if they didn't see it or you thought they were asleep. If you aren't sure if your experiences are OK, then check out the info below. If you might need some help, check out the info below.
