20.01.2022 Our stay in the Blue Mountains has been spectacular. We stayed Lake Lyell Recreation Park and Blackheath Caravan Park. Both great for families with kids and dogs. There is also a pet resort in Blackheath where you can leave your dog for $35 while you explore the mountains. The kids were excited that our next door neighbour was a wombat! We did a lot of short little walks with the kids but it was enough for us to be able to appreciate the magnificent scenery. We were lucky enough to see the beginning of Autumn as well. Would also love to get back here with just the hubby for Winter beside a campfire with a mulled wine. #bluemountains #amazing #mustsee #autumn #hikes #freshair

18.01.2022 I was so excited to have a day browsing street art and sipping coffee. I downloaded the 'first coat app' which shows a map of some of the street murals in Toowoomba, Queensland. After walking about a block Maddi was complaining about blisters, Ronin refused to move any further and Troy looked fed up. Lucky I stumbled upon this last mural by chance... It was definitely time for a drink. #streetart #murals #needgirltime

17.01.2022 Okay so first live post was a bit of a fail... i didn’t realise till after I was in my jocks for everyone to see. And audio was a problem. We are at gorgeous straddie... I’ve already been contemplating making it my next home here. In love! #ilovestraddie #myislandhome #topdestination #australia

16.01.2022 For a while it has felt as if the universe was telling us lapping around Australia wasn’t a good idea. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I live and breathe on thoughts of my next travel destination. So we decided to put all our chips in on this one and upgraded to a caravan!

15.01.2022 A little slice of paradise right here. Only $6 per person to stay in the National Park, but with limited spots you need to book in ahead of time. Get up early to see the Kangaroos on the beach at Sunrise- this is where Qantas has taken photos for advertisements. (Wish I had a close up lens) See the Aboriginal fish traps that are still there, but make sure you get there at low tide. We also checked out the The Old Station Teahouse which was a beautiful spot to unwind. #soulrejuvenation #capehillsborough #nationalpark

14.01.2022 How cute. I couldn’t work out what had her in giggles.

13.01.2022 Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia. We have now entered bindi country. After free camping the kids have become accustomed to bare feet. Upon jumping out of the car Maddi screamed as if she was attacked by a wild dog. In her foot was one of the largest bindis I’ve ever seen. They retreated to the safety of shoes for a while but after a few days they are now back to their bare feet and flicking away any bindis that they come across. We had a great time at Taronga Western Plains Zoo. I took a goat selfie at the lions cage... I hope this poor guy wasn’t dinner. Our tip would be to follow all the tour talks on the first day as they have the animals feeding while talking. Sometimes you can drive past and not see much otherwise. The zoo has a 2 day pass so on the second day you can catch up on what you missed out.

11.01.2022 FRASER ISLAND Our trip to Fraser Island left us with very split opinions. Maddi rated the trip as 1 Star, while Troy and I rated it at potentially 4 or 5 stars.... if we didn’t have kids. We spent a whole day driving from the Sunshine Coast to our camp spot at Wathumba. After 20mins of driving Roey was car sick so we did a clean up as best as we could and continued on In our spew scented car. As soon as we got out of the car we had our first experience of how vicious mo...zzies can be. Our camp was very secluded which was what we were going for at first, intending to have a nice quite spot to ourselves. This backfired as we were the only meal for the mozzies and even after several layers of every repellent they annihilated us. We had to drive a long distance to see the sites and the welts over the kids caused them to cry and whinge the entire time. I would reach around every 15mins trying to slather stop itch over them but because they had scratched themselves till they were bleeding the sting from the cream made them scream even louder. Even after sleepless nights and tantrums galore, once we saw some of the picturesque lakes we realised why Fraser is one of Australia’s top destinations. We quickly registered that it is not the beaches that people come from everywhere to see, it’s the many amazing swimming spots the island has. Our Favs: 1. Lake Mckenzie 2. Eli Creek 3. Lake Wabby 4. Champagne rock pools Our Advice: 1. Stay somewhere central or have an easy set up so you can move about. 2. Bring enough fuel- we limited ourselves ourselves because of this. ($2.10 on island) 3. Bring a swimming inflatable or noodle. 4. And well I don’t have much advice about the mozzies... I think for us it was unlucky timing.

11.01.2022 In the 6+ months of travel that our family on the road did we learnt an enormous amount. The foremost point being that two small kids in a tiny camper is not for the faint hearted. I’m sure it has aged us at least 2 years. Being in extreme temps above 40d ensured no sleep would be had by a one year old. There was no adulting done on these days as the unbearable heat reduced me to the similar coping levels of a toddler having a tantrum in the supermarket isles. Either travel ...with the good weather or have a van that is insulated and well ventilated or has air- con for those unbearable days. I had back problems along the way due to the large amount of set up involved. Trying to wrangle a kid in one arm while pulling up ground pegs put me in the fetal position until enough Valium and coedine was administered to allow me to crawl into bed for a few days. Our advice for anyone with a history of back issues is to buy something with an easy set up. We found that having young kids and a camp with a large set up/pack up involved we weren’t the free wayfarers we imagined. This fantasy was quickly squashed as our kids still expected us to adhere to nap and meal times. As campers that are respectful of others we also had to follow some time frames so we weren’t setting up our pikey camp at 1am next to some poor couple enjoying their retirement years. You will be garanteed to spend your whole time fixing things if travelling in a rickety old van over corrugated roads. Our advice would be to spend a bit more on your van if you can and reduce money in other areas ie. site fees, tours. After Troy landed himself in hospital for 3 months I pretty much put the camper in the too hard basket. I did miss the travel during this time but our setup was too much to handle for myself. I missed not having a home to be in during this time but thanks to some wonderful family and friends myself, the kids and Zeus had a roof over our heads. If buying a van being able to set it up without your partner might be one thing you would like to consider. Our thoughts around travelling in a small pop-up are just related to our family situation. If we weren’t on the move frequently it would have also made things easier. Basically we found moving every few days with a 2 and 3 year old is for the insane. We have seen other families with this set up that have older kids and it seems to work great as they all have jobs to do which makes it faster and less tiring. #campingwithkids #travelwithkids #campervan #australia

07.01.2022 Sorry guys! We’ve been out of contact for a while. I took some time out while Troy was in hospital for 3 months. I can happily say he’s on the mend and ready to continue our trip. Thanks to friends and family who supported and taught me that it’s not a world ender if my kids survive for a while on green apples and zooper-doopers. #thejourneycontinues #yippee #backonline

07.01.2022 Mudgee, New South Wales wasn’t really on my radar until driving through. But for wine and foodie lovers it’s a must. They have a foodie trail to taste local produce. We had a ploughmans lunch to get into the spirit and because the kids are honey mad we stopped in at Mudgee Honey Haven but after tasting their spiced mead I learnt this place was not just for the kids.

07.01.2022 Kids are back in the swing of things! #dirtgirl #wreckitronin

05.01.2022 If you stop into Brisvegas pay a visit to @3rdspacebrisbane (505 Brunswick street). It is a drop in center for the homeless although the cafe welcomes everyone. It’s a cheap place to eat out and they are set up for the kiddos too. #communitysupport #brisbane #coffee #spreadtheword

04.01.2022 Brave little girl is getting her tonsils out. Time to chillax, watch movies and eat ice cream. Perfect rainy weather for some down time. #nervousmummy

03.01.2022 Happy Easter Everyone! We have finally made it over the border to NSW. Our first stop is Byron Bay. We prefer our free/cheap camping usually but our stay at Byron Holiday Park was a fantastic stop for the kids with everything close by. We headed to The Farm at Byron Bay for a taste of local produce and took a walk to the iconic light house spotting a large pod of dolphins.

03.01.2022 We’ve seen sights such as the big banana, big prawn, big mango, big pineapple... this one is definitely a fun one to add to the list. The big bogan! My little bogans dressed for the occasion.

01.01.2022 STRADBROKE ISLAND We slid easily into island life- lots of swimming, cooking on the campfire, beach drives, wildlife walks and of course a few drinks taking in the magnificent views! After being given a location tip we also got to see dolphins up close and personal with no one else around. (I can’t believe we paid for this experience at TinCan Bay and it wasn’t half as amazing as this) Will explain where this spot is in video to come. We woke up at 4am to catch the early f...erry. It is significantly cheaper at this time, although we did find the price still went up with less tickets left. My advice book in quick. My brother stayed with us a couple of nights too and it was great to catch up (and have a break from the kids). Ps(I can’t load photos/videos together in post and would love it if some techie person could teach me) #tropicalparadise #beachlife #campfires #4WD #swimming #visitaustralia #familytravel
