17.01.2022 Violence always leaves a mark. Without resilience, the marks build quicker and cut deeper. Neglecting the training of our psyche leaves us incredibly vulnerable on the field of battle. It’s something that we should all talk about, something that we should cultivate and help each other with. ... We learn from each other’s experiences, as well as our own. The more we understand the aftereffects and impacts of violence and conflict, the better we are able to choose our fights. 09.01.2022 We are so proud to have awarded Manav Thobhani his Black Belt! Manav started with FSD when he was 12 and he always trained giving only his 100%! We asked him what he’s going to do now that he has achieved in getting his black belt, his reply was I would like to continue Han Mu Do because I still have a lot to learn. Even though I have passed my black belt grading, it doesn’t mean that I know everything. My journey is not yet complete. I still have to face many mental and physical obstacles. Spoken like a true Martial Artist! Well done!

08.01.2022 Not just looks and brawn! She's got the brain! Meet Rose from FSD Parramatta who recently earned her Yellow Belt. Rose is in 2nd year in uni taking her Bachelor in Accounting. A consistent Dean's Lister and always the top student in her class. Last semester she was the only student who really attained straight HD's on all subjects and also almost perfected all the final exams. Rose was also given the chance to be invited, interviewed and admitted at Harvard Business Sch...ool for her 1 Year Masteral Degree in Finacial Accounting in 2022. We asked Rose how she managed to study, work and train all at the same time, and this is what she had to say; "I was able to manage my time in my Uni, my work and my training in Martial Arts, and it didnt seem that hard because I love what I'm doing. I've always been proud of my FSDA family and I am so happy to be a part of it. To achieve your dreams you have to be passionate and put your heart in everything you do."

07.01.2022 Meet William, and his younger twin brothers, Jonathan and Isaac. William started with Family Self Defence at the age of 4 and the twins joined us at the age of 5. The boys got into Martial Arts because they believe that learning self defence is a necessity. They chose Han Mu Do for this because of how practical the art is with its self defence techniques. It also sparks various benefits to them in their everyday life. Not only are they getting physically stronger everyday b...ut they also learn important values and principles such as hard work, dedication, and perseverance, as well as the importance of maintaining personal relationships. William has attained his Black Belt in Han Mu Do and is currently working on attaining his Black Belt 1st Dan. The twins just received their Brown-Black Belt and are one step closer to getting their Black Belts in the junior division. Because of this physical and personal development, the boys are able to excel in other activities as well. William is a competitive swimmer and here are some mentions of his achievements: In the NSW Metro Champ, he held a school zone record of 50m freestyle in 2019 for 11 year boys and he was also the zone age champ and runner up at diocesan age champ in that year. In 2020, he received a Gold Medal for 11 year boys 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly. In Speedo sprints, William received 1 Gold medal, 4 silvers and 2 bronze. In ISA High school, William held a record for 12 year boys in 50m freestyle. He also won 1st place in the 50m butterfly, 2nd place in 50m backstroke, and 3rd place in breaststroke. William is the high school age champ for the 12 year boys division. Jonathan and Isaac are avid soccer players and gymnasts. The twins joined 4 gymnastic competitions and received medals for Rings, Parallel Bars, Vault, Floor, Pommel and High Bars. Jonathan and Isaac made it to zone for 2021. Those are a lot of achievements boys! They could have not done it without the mentality of a true athlete, we are glad that Martial Arts played a vital role in this. We are all so proud! Keep it up and keep excelling!
