25.01.2022 This week I completed Mental Health First Aider Accreditation (thanks to the NSW Government funded Business Connect program I contract to). Already this week have had two clients exhibiting symptoms of panic attacks, and overwhelm/anxiety/stress/burnout. Then this news report from 7 News Australia today, saying a 20 year old Australian Olympian died by apparent suicide overnight. :-( Please speak to someone, anyone, if youre struggling with life, especially at the moment as ...we face the dreaded #crisistrifecta - health (Covid-19 and mental health), financial, and lifestyle. Even better if the person has at least some basic qualifications like I do to help steer you in the right direction if youre not yet ready to see your GP. Alternatively look up the amazing services available like Lifeline, Beyond Blue and headtohealth.gov.au. Please dont suffer in silence. There may be practical assistance to help you cope in addition to the treatment for any mental health issues you be facing. If we hurt our arm we see a doctor if its bad or doesnt get better quickly, why cant we do the same for our mental health? I will be providing some blogs to help, especially for the tradies - as the stats for construction are horrific. Anything I can do to help I will try. If you offer any services to help those with mental health challenges, please note them in the comments and I may include in my blogs. Kind regards, Jane
24.01.2022 Its tax-time! You can last minute pre-pay expenses and JobKeeper Audit warning. Prepay your business expenses If you have business rent sitting in your bank account to pay in the next few days, pay it today (30 June), if you want to legally minimise your profit for this year if you use cash accounting methodology. ... If you dont pay today, youll pay tax on the amount (so for instance $3000 rent * 27.5% Australian company tax rate = $825 tax). Why? Because if its not showing as an expense it will be profit (which clearly it isnt really as its an expense you need to pay). If you pay today it shows as an expense and reduces your profit. But ... it is just a timing exercise. You wont be able to record the expense for Julys rent in next years return. However, paying an additional $825 when your tax bill is due may be something youd prefer to incur next year given the year of turmoil. Only bother doing if youre in a profit situation. JobKeeper Audits JobKeeper payments are being audited, and the ATO have already found a number of discrepancies, Remember JobKeeper was/is a self assessment model. Make sure you have proof of your eligibility either as the simple test (30% drop in turnover for the month or quarter in question versus the same period in 2019), or you met one of the alternative tests. Also remember if your tax returns were late you may need to have completed a form to get JobKeeper (of which I dont know anyone who has filled it out!) Refer details on my website JobKeeper page https://faqbusinesstraining.com.au

24.01.2022 Last minute notice oops but worth it ... Tomorrow (Thursday 10am - 12pm) is my infamous Low Cost Online Marketing Workshop Webinar - 2 hours of LOTS of ways to get yourself online for low cost, mostly actually its none at all! This is a NSW Government funded Business Connect workshop so is only for NSW residents but is F R E E !... After the session you get a file with LOTS (like HUNDREDS) more ideas to implement. This is a webinar not to be missed if you think youve done it all when it comes to marketing your business. Bookings essential (there are a few steps to follow).
24.01.2022 Given we are clearly not through the COVID-19 crisis we are reinstating our Coping With Crisis Series we started some months ago. The days clearly are not consecutive given there was a BIG gap! However we stick by day 1 - you cant do it all! Today we start back with our day 6 post. You can check out the series-to-date via our blog (videos and transcripts). This post is about why you need to keep marketing (yes, even if your business is on a temporary hold), but we may need... to move channels and we definitely need to watch our messaging. If you need some low cost marketing options we have some great upcoming events so check those out too! We also flag the great innovation shown by a business we respect Tiny Toes Ballet. Although we have the next handful of sessions mapped out, if theres anything youd like us to specifically cover in this series on business resilience please let us know. https://faqbusinesstraining.com.au/coping-with-crisis-day-/
23.01.2022 Tomorrow is R U OK day. So why are we publishing our extensive blog a day early? Because we need to make every day R U OK day! In this extensive blog (I make no apologies for it being long and in-depth, but there are headings so you can skim to the bits of interest to you), I cover what you need to say after youve asked R U OK? Lets face it in 2020 this isnt a friendly rhetorical question, you are likely to encounter people with real mental health issues which need treatm...ent, and many more who are struggling situationally with the issues around COVID-19. TRIGGER WARNING this blog does include important information about how you can ask questions of someone you suspect to be suicidal. The school of thought has vastly changed on this. A reminder our founder Jane is Mental Health First Aider Accredited, and will at times enquire into your mental health for your own good. R U OK? #RUOK #ruokday2020 #mentalhealth
23.01.2022 Happy surprise in the mail ... Outstanding Business Person of the Year Finalist 2020 Penrith City Local Business Awards... Thanks to The Local Business Awards for this Finalist nod :-) Been a good year on the awards finalist front ... 3 from 3 so far :-) (none of the award winners have been selected yet). Thanks to my clients and supporters for making up for some of the bad aspects of 2020!
23.01.2022 * PLEASE CHECK * If you are running WordPress sites with WooCommerce especially on Siteground please check your website is working okay. On the plans most of us are on, auto-updating has been enabled which has caused a number of sites to fail when involving WordPress, WooCoomerce and a certain unknown combination of themes and plugins. Normally you do NOT want auto updates enabled as it can cause the plugins on your site to go in conflict with WordPress and cause the site to... crash. Unless it is a critical security update you would hold off updating, at least for some time, to see how other peoples sites cope with the update. Its also a good time to make sure your backups are working both with the host, and if using WordPress, externally through Updraft Plus or similar (stores to a cloud storage of your choice and can be used to restore your website via your host and FTP upload). Please speak to your friendly web developer (for a fee of course), and get them to look at if your site is broken.
22.01.2022 Day 7 Coping With Crisis and building business resilience - types of marketing. This video and transcript is not so much about channels and tactics to use in marketing, but rather about informing and entertaining to use the time to build stronger relationships. It also shares a success story of innovation by Events Outsourced. Event managers were clearly one of the earliest and hardest hit (along with the travel industry), so it was inspiring to see Events Outsourced evolve a...nd deliver 40 Zoom sessions a week. They have subsequently evolved again to tackle a new market with their new found strengths. We are all living through the #crisistrifecta - health, financial and lifestyle crises, but we are being hit by each at different times and in different ways. This creates a need to build business resilience as well as adaptability in a constantly changing world. Are there any adaptations your business has made youd like to share? Wed love to hear them! #marketingstrategies #businessresilience
22.01.2022 So happy to see this! NSW have implemented mandatory disclosure obligations. This means any kickbacks even for non-regulated industries MUST be disclosed, even if informal. The amount doesnt need disclosing, just that one applies. A week or so ago I was invited to attend a networking referral group, and was horrified at some of the rules etc. You could ONLY refer to paid members in the group... Ahh no Ill refer to the RIGHT person providing the RIGHT FIT thank you. Plus they also get referral fees, which Ive never seen disclosed ever when you see people referring. Needless to say I wouldnt join them. (And no before anyone jumps up and down Im not referring to BNI - even they arent this aggressive!) https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au//new-disclosure-obligat
21.01.2022 Great feedback is always good to get, but even more so when its only quarter way into a brand new online workshop Why Leads Arent Converting and How to Fix. I guess it hit the mark! Business tip - if you run webinars make sure to copy the chat and review it for gems. There was some great feedback, but also from responses, questions and general comments lots of ideas for tips posts, blogs and future training.... #onlineworkshop #sales
21.01.2022 Brand new workshop this week Why Leads Arent Converting and How to Fix ... If you have any particular concerns about why your leads arent converting to sales (ads not working, traffic to website but no sales, carts abandons...) please send through your question and your example and we can cover it live on the day! On Thurs 20th August 9.30am-12pm Founder Jane Tweedy will be presenting to IBN Inc a brand new online workshop. The focus at this event is why youre getting view...s, quotes or conversations, but no actual sales. Our emphasis will be on possible execution issues starting with your own mindset. IBN Inc is a Sydney Hills networking group, but because this event is online, you can join us from wherever for a $15 fee. Love to see you there! https://facebook.com/events/s/why-leads-arent-converting-and/1248324782020393/?ti=cl
20.01.2022 Look out for our new blog on discounting tomorrow and if in NSW consider coming along to our popular session: How to Set Prices and Not Go Bust, our next online workshop. Join me Thursday 10am for this NSW Government funded Business Connect session. https://wsbusiness.com.au/evrplus_registration/
20.01.2022 Who likes to share their successes? Want a business backlink? Reach a new audience? Looking for clients - whether coaching, training or advice, who are willing to share their successes - via video (just send me a short clip), written testimonial (with a pic of you/your business), to feature in blogs and stories ... to be shared on website, Google and social media. Looking for a mix of people whove attended ONE session or even learnt ONE tip from here, actioned it and it made... a measurable impact, right through to devoted fans whove done a lot of my training or advice sessions. Please, either comment here or message the page or me (Jane Tweedy) please :-) Thanks!
19.01.2022 Hands up who loves what they do?! I love helping business owners fill their gaps in knowledge, and love when people can see the love you put into it! And you know what, its okay to give yourself a pat on the back sometimes - especially when youve been feeling under the pump lately and not achieving at all what you wanted.... Share some love you received recently, or give yourself a shout out for being awesome!
18.01.2022 Employers on JobKeeper (plus accountants who are not on top of this) ... YOU MUST recheck your employees for eligibility for JobKeeper for AUGUST. From 3rd August certain employees became eligible for JobKeeper with a 1 July 2020 reference date. There is urgency as you need nominations and the wage condition for August filled by 31 August 2020. Existing eligible employees from 1 March 2020 who are still working, have no change or need to retest. I have a video on Facebook or a slightly tidier version on YouTube explaining who is eligible. If you want to be sent some documents on this happy to send in exchange for joining our email list.
18.01.2022 Many of you will already have heard me rave about The Digital Picnic and their amazing team led by Cherie Clonan. If you want to learn about social media you can't beat this amazing year long program. Learn from the gurus themselves. This program is brilliant and you won't regret the investment in yourself and your business. Love everything about this business. Spaces limited - book now!
17.01.2022 First Aid back up-to-date. I don't have to do it, rather I choose to do it. Why? Because you never know when you may be first on the scene of an emergency, and I have a few times (fortunately with others). As a trainer, hopefully back LIVE in real life, at least if I know first aid there's always someone on hand with some skills. I recommend every trainer, parent, hey let's face it citizen of the world, has first aid training.... Thanks to Peter from Vital First Aid : RTO 90531 for a fun and informative day.
16.01.2022 Branding is such an important part of establishing the first impression with clients. For those whove done my Low Cost Online Marketing Workshop youll know one of the ways I talk about getting free reach is by being controversial ... intentionally or unintentionally. Dew Thai insist their logo is a straw ... but I can clearly see two controversial alternatives. Yeah sure maybe I have a dirty mind ... The first logo is clearly the contentious one, and it appeared from some comments from them it was unintentional, hence they created logo 2. But ... logo 2 has been replaced again by logo 1 so was it really intentional and a publicity stunt, or did they just try to milk (pun intended) the situation? Especially when they start referring to size. And as for the last pic (their cover photo), am I the only one that is creeped out by the baby? So... have they made their mark - yes. Whether intentional or not. The thing is some people will be grossly offended by their brand and they will be repelled, others will find it hilarious and go all in (couldnt help myself ). And that can be perfectly okay if you dont want the uptight, prim and proper people as clients. What do you think? Would you be bold enough to throw in a bit of controversy, milk it if an accident, or be horrified? These are the genuine logos / pics taken from Dew Thais Facebook page today.
15.01.2022 When theres nothing left to polish, sometimes youve just gotta have fun with it. By all the attention, Im sure someone will want to buy this beautiful property! Scroll down the link and check out the video.... There must be a lot of trust between vendor and agent for this style of marketing - make sure theyre aware of EVERY single flaw! Would you be game enough to give this a try? #branding #salesstrategy #sales
15.01.2022 Can you really multitask? Let's see if you really can?! Over on Instagram you can even try the new Reels remix feature and show us how you can! Multitasking has been debated over the decades about whether you can do it, and whether you should do it. In this simple test we see two simple tasks are super easy by themselves, but when combined not so easy (especially when you remember I'm doing a third task by shooting my Reel too!)... By combining the tasks either neither was performed well, one was okay but one was hopeless, or it requires a lot of deep concentration putting more strain on you. So if this is what happens when we multitask, it seems to be a pretty good example of why it's not a great idea to multitask. Sure listening to a podcast while hanging out the washing is fine, listening to a training audio in the car is likely to require many listens before you actually hear everything. What do you think - can you really multitask? #productivitytips #multitask #doonethingatatime
15.01.2022 Is this a way of stopping us eating too many Easter Eggs? Be interesting to see how this scans at the register! #discountsdontwork #huh #hmmm
15.01.2022 Expertise, authority and trust, often referred to as E-A-T, helps establish us with our prospects, clients and Google. Today on the blog I share my recent experience to build mutual E-A-T, by appearing on the podcast with Leanne Shelton of Write Time Marketing and her podcast Marketing & Me Podcast. Please check out my blog on Building expertise, authority and trust using podcasts and check out the podcast itself on Reflect, Review and Plan Your Business Future.... Let me know your thoughts, especially on whether youd be interested in a podcast from us, and if so the format and topics. https://faqbusinesstraining.com.au/expertise-authority-and/
15.01.2022 After 18 years the Australian Government Style Guide is being updated, and more importantly will be publicly available online. This will make your life easier to write copy, reports and any other business correspondence correctly. Not sure how and when to use a dash, look it up (but a warning - you may be more confused). #styleguide... https://www.stylemanual.gov.au PS will talk about the new clickable Facebook hashtag links soon. You will need to add some hashtags to Facebook posts, but so far it appears less is more (unlike Instagram).
15.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the dads, grandads, father figures and mums who fill in as dads. What words of wisdom or leading by example did you get from your dad or father figure? From mine definitely not words of wisdom (dont let him on the mic!!), but he was an early adopter, about 25-30 years ago of being a portfolio person or a man of many hats. Back then we thought it was bludging and not having a real job but look what I have now - many different roles! I guess I learnt something from him! Love to hear what you learned as a kid, or realised as an adult.
14.01.2022 Were back ... The JobKeeper extension is finally legislated. Like our popular sessions after the first release, our Founder Jane Tweedy will unpack and present it to you via Facebook Live. Any questions you have ahead of the event please ask here or in the event comments. On the day ask in the Facebook Live comments. The Live will be on the FAQ Business Training page on Wed 19th August at 7pm. Look forward to clearing up any confusion!
13.01.2022 Who could say no to this face? Do people say no to you? Do you get the leads but not the sales? We have a new online workshop - Why Leads Arent Converting and How to Fix. We address the reasons why youre not getting that sale you thought was a done deal. Starting with a sales mindset and putting on our marketing hats, well review ads, posts, websites and communications, and uncover why things arent working.... If youre baffled why something in your business isnt making sales, feel free to message me so I can cover in the session. Thurs 20 August, 9.30am-12pm as part of the IBN Inc meeting. IBN Inc is a Sydney Hills networking group, but as this is online anyone can attend. The workshop itself is 2 hours. Free for members, $15 for others. Slides and webinar recording will be available for review afterwards to paid registrants. Love to see you there! Tickets sales close Wednesday night. https://facebook.com/events/s/why-leads-arent-converting-and/1248324782020393/?ti=cl
13.01.2022 Australian Employers - please check employee pay rates (including your own if a company employee) and see if the pay rate went up in the Group 2 Awards. Minimum rates increased 1.75%. Because of Covid-19 the pay increases were spread out into 3 groups. This group includes some big awards like Clerks and also the Miscellaneous (catch all) Award. There are over 50 others so be sure to check this link if you're an employer. The 5 worst affected industries (including tourism, retail and hospitality) and their Awards don't go up till February 2021.
12.01.2022 Do you have customers who pay you regularly towards the end of the month or the start of the following month? Make sure you get in touch with these customers so you do not have issues with them non-paying over a potential Christmas New Year lockdown (a normal one, not a Covid one). Every year I see too many people complain in Facebook groups about having outstanding invoices they expected to be paid during the period and it puts them in a lot of financial pressure. This is a...lmost entirely avoidable. In the short term make calls to your clients ideally this week before they are closed down for the holidays, and ask them whether they are going to pay pre-Christmas or are intending to leave it till after New Year. You can encourage payment prior to Christmas but even if they say no, at least you know to plan ahead for that eventuality. If they can't pay it gives you a chance to arrange cover for your bank account if need be, and this is one of the rare occasions where I think dipping into your holding account for your taxes etc is fine, because it is temporary and just covers a few days shortfall. When the client pays, simply return the money back to the holding account well before you need to pay your next BAS etc. Longer term make sure you put in your contracts and agreements how the Christmas period is to be handled payment wise and make sure you issue your invoices earlier over that period. Diary to get in touch with your clients to remind them of their obligations (and wish them seasons greetings). It may also be the time to review your cancellation and debt collecting policies,or instigating them for the first time. Finally make sure you're not contributing to the problem by making sure if you have payments falling due through the holiday period you pay them, and by issuing your invoices early enough so your customers have a chance to actually pay them. Don't let finances stress you out over the Christmas and New Year business closures! #cashflow
12.01.2022 Trouble making changes? Not able to form a new habit? I listened to this fantastic podcast (27mins) from the wonderful What You Will Learn series. Adam and Adam are Australians who review all 'the' books and give you the quick and dirty about them. Lets you get some key points and decide if you want to buy the book. This episode is about Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg. I'll be buying this one. Highly recommend tuning in.... BJ Fogg Behaviour Model = motivation + ability + prompt Do tiny things attached to something you already do. How easy is pushing out two wall push-ups rather than doing 20 on the floor? Sure you start slower, however it's so much more likely to grow and stick! #motivation #habits #makingchange
10.01.2022 Have you ever wondered why you keep trying to do something and it just won't happen? Do you do something automatically and don't really know why? In our childhood we learn patterns of behaviour in order to earn approval, follow instructions, fit in or protect ourselves from danger. These patterns can continue subconsciously into our adulthood. Over on the blog and video today we talk about patterns and pattern interrupts. Without identifying the pattern we can't interrupt and... change it to move forward. If you can benefit from a pattern interrupt feel free to reach out. #businesscoaching #mindsetcoaching #mindsetshift
09.01.2022 What makes you happy in business? Sure it's great to get paid what we're worth (seeing some shockers in a variety of groups right now including handmade, tech and trades), but what else makes you beam from the inside or do a happy dance? For me it's seeing clients blossom and grow. Especially people who are so modest and find it hard to sell themselves. One post today from a gorgeous lady Natalia from Pilates Corner made me so happy. She owned she's a great Pilates instructo...r and has grown steadily post Covid close down. Love seeing her shout that out on her socials! Well done! What things, even small, make you happy? For my parents job Benji, clearly the freedom to run along a beach chasing a ball makes his day!
08.01.2022 If youre finding it tough coping through Covid-19 you are in good company. This list from Forbes is a whos who of some well known mainly US brands, who have been forced into restructuring, bankruptcy protection, laying off staff and/or store closures. This includes brands we know through American TV and movies including Technicolor itself (youll see them on many movie credits), JCPenney, J Crew, Chuck E Cheese... Other brands are recognisable locally like Hertz and Cirque ...du Soleil. The advantage we have as small businesses over these big companies is we are nimble and can adapt quickly. We can cut costs (refer the great guide on our website), adapt what we offer, and can go into a winter Covid-19 hibernation. At least when were not going out as much, our costs are down. Hey youve got to look at the silver lining sometimes. Make sure you reach out and take advantage of all the programs and grants being offered. For instance, in NSW heavily affected industries have a possible $3000 marketing and staff protection grant available through Service NSW. I am a NSW Government funded Business Connect Advisor and everyone gets at least 4 hours advice at no cost under that program, but Covid-19 affected businesses get up to 60 hours training and advice at no cost (recently increased from 34 hours). Make sure you check out what is available to you through your local government and through federal government. Do what you need to do to survive and thrive through these incredibly tough times.
08.01.2022 LAST CHANCE ! On today at 10am. It's our lucky last session, and a topic I'm super passionate about as I see so many businesses fail because of the issues raised in this session. If you're: - a tradie going on site. measuring up, or calculating each job individually - a coach or similar who offers discovery calls or coffee catch-ups before signing up a client... - a designer who checks out the space or the person before custom quoting a job - regularly miscalculate quotes or leave something out - quoting many times and not winning many clients ... Then this session is a must for you! There are things you may not have thought of and we will suggest improvements to your processes to make things better for you! If you can't make it you can book the VIP option with recording and slide pack sent to you for you to watch at your convenience. Hope to see you soon!
08.01.2022 Enjoyed a great date night to celebrate 9 years together, and as a bonus from a small business sense supported local businesses in Penrith. Griddle Restaurant provided a great dinner. We then enjoyed testing our teamwork with the Launch room at Narrow Escape Rooms What small businesses are you supporting this silly season? Give them a shout out here and leave a nice review on Facebook and/or Google.
07.01.2022 Is this just me, or is this either really badly worded or excessive? The text mentions on-site but the graphics do not, just CLOSED. Judging by the hundreds of comments on his post Im not the only one :-( Why would for instance an accountant not be able to work from home remotely? So either it should say cant work with any human contact, but can continue working from home, or read it as it says - CLOSED (even for remote working).... It is so odd to be living life on video webinars and video meetings, look at pics of NZ with life as normal and then have Melbourne facing this terrible situation. The last thing Melbourne needs is confusion to add to peoples anxiety and stress levels. I hope some clarification is issued promptly in the morning. There are many businesses currently unclear where they sit as they dont fit neatly in any category.
07.01.2022 Networking online with Sydney Hills Business Chamber last night. Nice to see some familiar faces and meet some new people in our breakout room. Miss the old Business After Fives, but I do like the no need to drive home after and being able to wrap up warm in winter :-) How are you finding restrictions have impacted your networking? Are you partaking in online sessions or holding out for in real life (IRL)?
07.01.2022 Proud to support this initiative by Penrith City Council to support local business by registering as a #penrithproud business. What have you done to support local businesses in your area lately? Buying Christmas presents? Buying services including for self care? Supporting hospitality businesses (even via takeaway)? Buying training services ;-) You can also support small simply by reacting to, commenting and sharing posts. Leaving a review for businesses you've used and had g...reat service from. I've done all of these lately :-) How about you? Feel free to shout out any of your favourites or even sharing what you have to offer! #shopsmall #shoplocal
07.01.2022 Today on our blog is a topic which will make many of you happy - calling out the easiest ways to market. 06.01.2022 APOLOGIES - Due to some unforeseen issues tonights Facebook Live will be on tomorrow 20th August at 7pm instead. I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. I will update the event if Facebook lets me!
06.01.2022 Apologies for the inconvenience. The JobKeeper Live will be tomorrow instead :-( 20th August at 7pm
06.01.2022 After being the victim of trolling on a Facebook group a few years ago, I find this decision to award substantial damages against Facebook trolls to be a step in the right direction. Don't make defamatory posts on people's pages, profiles or in groups, especially when in this case the original dispute has nothing to do with the business or their business behaviour! By the way, my trolling was from a woman who I'd never even met, who was connected with a business coach at the ...time who put walls up to other business coaches (odd when most of us in the area are quite friendly and some people see multiple coaches). Only reason I could even think why she'd target me. This woman every time I commented for months in the group would put up a negative comment. Enough to feel the burn, but not enough to stand out individually. After a post where she'd also got her mates riled up too I'd had enough. So when the next post she claimed my comments were 'dangerous' and claimed I had told someone not to see a lawyer or accountant, when it was crystal clear in my comment TWICE the person would still need to see both. I called her on it and said I would issue a cease and desist letter (and I did contact a lawyer about it). However I also reported her to group admins who did a name search and saw what she had been doing and were highly apologetic for not removing her earlier. My value in the group far outweighed her non existent help, and her behaviour was odd and defamatory. Kicking her out sent enough of a message and saved me going down the legal route. There are ways to deal with people, but I like to think karma will eventually bite them anyway! https://www.dailymail.co.uk//Two-trolls-ordered-pay-150k-d
05.01.2022 Sometimes we need to listen to our bodies and go STOP!!! I have been pushing to do 'everything' and trying to get a major assessment completed while being sick with a head cold and recurring migraines due to the stress and my stupid eyes. So for the sake of health and practising what I preach, it's time for a few days out. Things can wait, and if it means failing if I don't get an assessment extension so be it. What does it take to make you stop and put you and your health fi...rst? #burnedout #putyourselffirst
05.01.2022 Back over on Reels today playing with a filter which is a good one to remind us to be ourselves! Clearly a super fake filtered version of me! But WHY do we believe everything we see on socials? It's so easy to fake the perfect life. In fact some of the influencers have shown their behind the scenes of photo shoots and how they're really just in the backyard or somewhere local, not the glamourous holiday destination they're pretending to be at.... The only real world you know is yours. Even your friends and family can hide secrets, so imagine how much a business acquaintance or person we see as an inspiration can. In business it's so easy to fall into #comparisonitis and end up in an #impostersyndrome cycle. It's okay to look on, but if the obsession has become unhealthy move away! Do you. Be the best YOU you can be! Do you find yourself getting unnecessarily worried seeing other businesses post? Have businesses folded who you thought were doing well?

04.01.2022 It's a wet day and I was procrastinating doing an assignment so created a new Reel over on Insta. @faqbusiness Are you willing to drop a bad customer? What would make you? Or are customers always right? For me it's abuse and values disputes.... #badcustomers #makeroomforgoodpeople ... back to my assessment after lunch!
03.01.2022 Why did I start FAQ Business Training? This video talks about the main reason why I got started ... after hearing story, after story AFTER STORY about people getting ripped off, including ripping themselves off! Do you connect with my why? P.S. This little video was created as part of a recent live workshop via webinar with IBN Inc where many of us suffered terrible tech issues - including my computer freezing on a terrible Camtasia soundtrack at one stage, and dropping in and out of connection (of course it didnt drop out while the audio was blaring, when you wanted it to drop out!!). Certainly made life a lot more challenging!!
03.01.2022 JobKeeper update. The bills were passed earlier this week and after wading through 97 pages of Bill and Explanatory memorandum it basically said very little!! The entire focus was JobKeeper enabling directions and agreements*. The only thing it did with relation to the extension of payments, tiers, turnover etc is extend the JobKeeper date to 28 March 2021! Absolutely no other details ... yet. So again we wait.... This link to the ATO (put up yesterday - reference QC63534, gives as much information as is known (including I notice a change to say 80 hours rather than an average 20 hours per week). So sorry but wait we must as it is clearly not all completely sorted! * The JobKeeper enabling directions allow for these to continue to be issued for the most part by qualifying employers who will still be on JobKeeper, and legacy employers who will no longer be eligible for JobKeeper from 28 Sept 2020 but who are still 10% down at least in turnover. If this applies to you let me know and I can include further information. Basically it will require a certificate to confirm youre eligible from a specified person (eg accountant) or a small business will need to provide a statutory declaration.#jobkeeper #jobkeeperextension https://www.ato.gov.au///JobKeeper-extension-announcement/
03.01.2022 What a gorgeous sunny Sunday it is in Sydney today. Today in one of the Facebook groups I set a challenge to shoot everyday objects in a way to add more tension. This makes your photos more dynamic, makes them more fun to shoot and can be used to lift your images on socials and elsewhere. Anyone game to have a go? Think about placement, overfilling, looking like youre about to fall, odd juxtapositions ... So many choices!... #phototips #photography #socialmediaphotos
02.01.2022 This man is not a client but he has always been a raving fan. He regularly left such lovely supportive comments on this page. Unfortunately written in past tense as he sadly passed away today. JD was a colleague of mine way back around the time of September 11 in Wellington, NZ. He put on a gruff exterior (especially when chasing bad debts) but he had a heart of gold. It hurts not being able to be able to send him off properly. So this is my tribute to him. JD you were an awe...some colleague and a great friend and supporter. I will miss you dearly and think of you fondly. RIP JD. Love you, Jane Photo borrowed from his family.
02.01.2022 One way to build expertise, authority and trust is to become an author. Last year at a business and coaching training with FIRE UP Coaching RTO Code 22458 on the Sunshine Coast, I had the pleasure of meeting Kym Cousins who has recently become the author of Selling With Heart. Well done Kym for completing something I hope to do in the not too distant future! I look forward to making time to have a read! This topic is something I fully endorse. Selling doesnt have to be pushy... and negative, after all many people love to buy! Focus on being a solutions provider and making people feel good and youre already way ahead of the game. Does sales have a negative connotation for you, or do you whole-heartedly embrace it? Love to hear your thoughts!
02.01.2022 Do 25 freebies relating to software, tech, ebooks and training interest you? People may notice that I talk about a lot of software and programs which can help you as a small business owner. In fact my Low Cost Online Marketing Workshop which Im presenting for Bayside BEC under ASBAS (so available Australia wide) on this Wednesday 2nd September, lets you know about a whole lot of tools which may get you excited! Anyway I digress, last night I had a quick look at AppSumo and l...ow and behold I found a whopping 25 freebie offers on top of their already amazing low cost often lifetime tech deals. Some are pretty awesome like a set of 7 courses with Teachable, an automation guide with Process St... I will warn you, AppSumo can be a little addictive! Please note this link is an affiliate link, but it gives you $10 off your first purchase too. Enjoy! See more

01.01.2022 Two extremes - gratitude and grumpiness! So nice to give and receive thanks and gratitude. Thanks Vyna for the beautiful note and gift, after speaking at one of the last MIBA events before its unfortunate demise. MIBA could be a case study in what not to do when you have a business partner fall out. I feel for the co-ordinators like Vyna who bore the brunt of two business partners disagreeing and tearing the company apart beneath them.... When things go wrong, its time to remain civil. Destroying a business achieves nothing for anyone.
