25.01.2022 Another great weekend away competing! Far-A-Way Endurance Riders Association Inc. set out a tough 80km with breakneck hill (7km continual climb) in the first le...g and every other hill they could find in Imbil for the second leg. It was a tough challenging wet track with showers throughout the ride right from the beginning. Georgie completed her first ride in Concerto solo after leaving me behind on a novice horse. Georgie and Concerto looked after each other as I new they would coming home with 1st Junior and winning Best Conditioned Rug with a perfect log book to match. I rode Sparks, Mark Nimons cute little chestnut gelding. He tried his heart out and was a true champion. We come in across the line equal 3rd with 2 other lovely ladies that helped us when we were both very tired. Thats what I love about Endurance. We finished up with a perfect log book too. So lucky and great full to Mark for trusting me with his special boy Sparks. Now home and ready to start training tomorrow for the next ride! See more

24.01.2022 From all of us here at the Heritage Easter at Blackbutt event we say thanks and goodnight! Our ride base is packed up and it’s just the Mary Valley (Imbil) crew camping it out for one more night. We really want to thank each and every one of you that came up to support our event at our 2021 home away from home. We saw some endurance royalty and long timers here this weekend!... It genuinely was tough pivoting on short notice to run our traditional 320km Marathon and we cannot thank enough the crew at South Burnett Endurance Riders for their help. Michael Shaw in particular assisted hitting the ground after a Saturday night S.O.S with enthusiasm and took his amazing partner Bec and Colleen along to create a first class Marathon course and organise a huge number of the logistics harder for us due to distance - though he still managed this from Canberra! Covid decided to throw in a last minute curve ball to challenge us even further but the event started and we had small number line up for the Marathon on Thursday afternoon even after only being released from lock down hours earlier. We need to thank all our sponsors and we were so fortunate to pull a heap, but in particular our naming partner Heritage Community Bank at Nanango who have supported SBER over the years came in with great support. Those we need to thank the most are you, the ones who trekked up and supported our club and values to put on a traditional, ‘Showgrounds based’ relaxed club ride. We really had a blast putting it on and the smiles over the weekend are what makes all of this worth it (we’re not tearing up yet, I promise!) To those that followed at home online with our Facey spam, we hope we were able to give you as much insight as possible as to how the event was tracking and to be quiet frank perhaps a little jealous you weren’t here on the trails with us We look forward to seeing you 2022 at the next Far A Way Marathon and be sure to get to the next SBER ride on the calendar too! *mic drop*
23.01.2022 Please be advised that the Far-A-Way Club has sadly decided this year to cancel the Sparkler ride that was to be held at the Amamoor Forest National Park. A new venue comes with its challenges, such as running an 80km ride on newer terrain and finding safe tracks which are suitable for the expected number of novice horses in Summer. Imbil traditionally is a tougher ride on the calendar, and the Amamoor forest offers further hilly terrain again which would be testing in Summer.... Additionally, much of the course passes through leased property which has a combination of both wild and domestic horses running freely for a night ride. We have also been unable to secure safety communications for the event which increase the risk further. Alternative courses have been looked at, however large numbers of volunteers for gates (18 people) in the first leg are challenging for our club which already struggles for volunteers, however this course features a lot of concussive gravel road, with very much a there and back design, which isnt typical of a Far-A-Way event. The lower numbers expected for our event were favourable for managing the rider and horse safety with the above conditions, however there is also a balance in that the ride must also be financially viable. For a ride that is always under the stars, they havent quite aligned for us this November We would like to thank those who committed to coming to our ride and apologise for the cancellation. All nominations that have been completed on Try Booking will be refunded. If you have any questions, please call me on 0457 556 696 Mark Grogan President

20.01.2022 So much to see! This year we had one of the afternoon legs head up towards the Coonoongibber Rock Pools (picture Keiran Rowley on Rhythm Dancer) which we havent used in a very very long time. The Mitchell Creek Forest 40km Leg has fast become the favourites voted by all our Far A Way riders this year offering a huge mixture of bushland, pine forest, farm land and amazing scenery. ... Its also a very very good wet weather leg! (Picture Denise Keelan Photography) at the Melawondi Rail Bridge part of the old Mary Valley Rattler train line from Gympie to Imbil. See more

18.01.2022 Another Far-A-Way Easter Endurance Carnival done. What an interesting but fabulous event. The rain didn't keep us down (although it did keep us wet). Tracks were altered accordingly but the ride went on. In extremely tough conditions 4 of our 320km Marathon riders completed all looking fabulous at the finish. We would like to send a huge thank you out to our vets, chief stewards, TPRs, WICEN as well as all our other volunteers. It is not easy running a ride especially the Ea...ster Carnival and without all these people it is not possible. If you attended our event please feel free to send feedback to [email protected]. Positive / ideas of improvement are welcomed. We want to continue to make Easter a great time for everyone. If you require a refund for any rides please also email [email protected] by Friday. It would be great if those who won trophies / awards that were sponsored could make sure they take photos and thank the sponsors themselves. I know our sponsors really appreciate this. See you all again for our Sparkler event in November and good luck to those aiming for the Tom Quilty!
