24.01.2022 Toby's mother died when he was born. He hasn't been coping without her and is in a very bad way. Thankfully he was surrendered to us and we are doing everything we can. He has been in hospital both the last two days because his glucose levels have crashed, leaving him cold and weak. We are working hard to get his energy levels up, but he has a long way to go. This is one very ill little boy.
23.01.2022 This is great news. https://www.theguardian.com//no-kill-lab-grown-meat-to-go-
20.01.2022 Just as we were congratulating ourselves on coming through the storm unscathed, we had a tree just this minute come down in the special needs hen yard. Thankfully everyone is safe, but it was very tense until we counted everybody!
18.01.2022 Just arrived at Farm Animal Rescue. A whole bunch of factory farmed egg laying hens. Nothing but fun and games now for these lovely ladies, their days of suffering are over.
17.01.2022 They promised us a wet spring. And yet, this is us today. (Just the boys in the photo, the cows don’t rush to dinner like the boys do!)
15.01.2022 Yesterday we helped little Toby over the rainbow bridge. He was unable to maintain glucose in his blood for the last few days, and has had a temperature way too low for him to survive, despite blankets, heaters, IV's and hot water bottles. He was a very sweet little man but right from the outset the loss of his mother was too much for him to bear. Toby reminds us that all babies need their mothers, and reinforces the pain that all farmed animals feel when they are forcibly separated. Toby didn't even want an adopted mother, he just wanted his real mum. Toby's time with us was short but what he taught us about a baby's need for his mother will last forever.
12.01.2022 Arnold helping get the hay back to the feeder. Fiona ruining it for everybody.
12.01.2022 We have no idea where Jack found a cushion. But apparently it’s his now.
09.01.2022 The insanity of using animals. 2.5 million mink were culled in Denmark because they got coronavirus from workers, which spread to 68 mink farms. The strain became much more dangerous than the current strain of human covid-19 so the farms killed all 2.5 million and buried them in shallow graves. As the bodies have been decomposing they have pushed their way to the surface and the rain has been washing toxic chemicals and bacteria into wells and rivers, so much that people can no longer use their water. There is no reason to use animals for clothing, there are so many awesome man made materials available. Be kind to animals and the world by boycotting clothes that come from animals.
07.01.2022 Farm Animal Rescue saves the most badly abused and neglected of Australia's farm animals. Many of these animals require intensive round-the-clock care, tests and scans, and special feeds and medicines to make them feel better. We think every animal deserves a chance at happiness, especially those who were destined to be confined in the agriculture industry. We need to raise $10,000 by December 31st so that we can continue to treat and care for the industry's most abused. For animals like Annie, Starr, Nanny Pam and Toby whose lives had no hope, we need to be here to give them the best chance possible for life, comfort and new hope. https://chuffed.org/project/animal-rehabilitation-fund

06.01.2022 This fills us with joy.
05.01.2022 Every Summer Portia goes for a four month camping trip. She has chosen a site on the farm this year with lots of tree cover and beachfront access. It’s what makes her happy. #untileverycageisempty
02.01.2022 Turkey for Christmas is cruelty on a plate.
