23.01.2022 Cauldrons are substantial vessels capable of containing large quantities of food or liquid. It is therefore probable that they were not used for everyday purposes, but were instead used for the preparation of food and drink for feasts which are occasions distinct from the everyday, when large quantities of food and drink are consumed. In the Iron Age they were extremely important for social events, used to celebrate religious festivals, mark rites of passage or even just to show off. This one is 26cm diameter and 66cm high riveted copper from around 1870. Wear is commensurate with age. Selling with its patina in place but can be cleaned to let the copper shine through. $385

21.01.2022 SOLD Today is the 78th anniversary of the Bombing of Darwin in 1942. This attack was the first of 64 air raids over northern Australia. We have for sale a signed limited edition 587/1800 print by James Baines, the original of which was sponsored by the management of the Hotel Darwin to commemorate the 50th anniversary of this bombing. The result is a balance between historic detail and artistic creativity, and presents a unique record of the first and only sustained conflict on Australian soil.

There is always plenty to do here so we arent idle. We have lots of stock so if you are needing/wanting anything. Ask. We can take pics to send you and we can do pay over the phone and either post to you or package up for you to collect at an arranged time. Should you consider stopping by, we would prefer you to phone either of us... before doing so. Of course, we ask that you refrain from this if you have flu like symptoms. We have taken extra steps to ensure surfaces are religiously clean. We have hand washing facilities or if you prefer, latex gloves by the door. Social distancing is practiced and encouraged. 16.01.2022 Mill Street was a buzz yesterday when we had a visit from these beauties. Saints and Cyclone Car Clubs members took away some treasure from in store while locals feasted their eyes on these incredible automobiles from days gone by. A total credit to their owners. Some of you would've seen them on display at Cardwell Seafest on Saturday. After visiting our store they were off to Mena Creek Hotel for lunch. 10.01.2022 Found this while looking for something else. Thought it was seriously awesome. Knitted glass of all things. For all our crafty people out there. Carol Milne is known worldwide for her unique Knitted Glass work, for which she won the Silver Award at the 2010 International Exhibition of Glass in Kanazawa, Japan. Milne began her career in Landscape Architecture, before studying sculpture, and finally, glass art. It wasnt until 2006 when knitting wasnt yet cool that Milne began to incorporate techniques of knitting, lost-wax casting, mold-making, and kiln-casting to create her Knitted Glass. Milne has won five prestigious awards and has been the subject of solo shows all around the world.

09.01.2022 Great educational conversation piece. Made up of samples of different timbers and minerals from Atherton Tablelands, in glass cylinders on wooden stand. On the back of each cylinder they are marked with what they are and the minerals also shows where they come from. Made and used in schools in the 50s. $75

09.01.2022 This is quite an unusual piece. Not sure the exact era. What is it you say? That's what I said. This small brass instrument is a Farrier's measuring instrument. It is a Hoof Caliper used for measuring the angle and length of the horses hoof. $75

08.01.2022 Beautiful set of 6 frosted tumblers decorated with Aboriginal figures and Australian animals and gilding. They are in their original box though the box exterior condition is as it is due to long time storage. The glasses have never been used so in as new condition. $65

05.01.2022 Antique 1916 Edison Diamond Disc Phonograph in going order fitted with a permanent conical diamond stylus. There is storage space for your records in the cupboard below. Beautiful condition. This unit was one of the first produced after the cylinder music machines popular in the WW1 era, and was patented from 1903. Comes with 4 Edison Diamond Disc Records. These records are 1/4 inch thick. $995
