25.01.2022 Benefits of getting in early: 1. Get your recommended gypsum on before the wet season for maximum benefit. 2. Sampling prior to discing allows us to avoid old fertiliser bands, which can skew sample results. 3. Beat the rush and get your whole farm nutrient plan developed before planting (regulation requirement). 4. Results can take 2-3 weeks to get back (depending on postage and handling).... 5. The lab shuts over Christmas, plus the Christmas postage rush can cause extra delays. See more

13.01.2022 Our new but old toy being used to harvest a variety of alternative crop trials in Mackay and the Burdekin region. Built in the early 1980s this old girl was one of the first harvesters of its kind in Australia. So far, we have harvested safflower, wheat and barley in a few of our trial plots.

13.01.2022 A FIRST for the Australian sugar cane industry spreading multispecies seed behind the harvester. As part of the Reef Trust and Great Barrier Reef Foundation project, Farmacist Mackay is working with local growers to develop innovative ways to establish multispecies break crops. This airseeder was mounted on the harvester and planted a 12 species mix under the trash blanket. Since the mix contains no grass varieties, the cane (and other grass weeds) can be sprayed out ...allowing the cover crop to continue to grow. This airseeder has been used across multiple implements including bed formers, wavy discs and offsets across the district as part of Farmacist’s Multispecies Project.
