25.01.2022 16 hrs later......

25.01.2022 FarmCall Gippsland enjoys the evening’s feed time. Our animals are all precious and bring us joy and a few laughs too. Here is Mr Teddy eating lamb pellets that he clearly dislikes. Our pet lamb loves the pellets and Vern distracts Teddy. He’s a funny dog

24.01.2022 It’s been a busy time with our flock of Suffolk sheep lambing with twins most prominent this year. We moved our flock to a fresh paddock and they tend to want to remain in that paddock (who blames them!) but for their safety we have a night paddock with out Maremma’s able to patrol more easily.

23.01.2022 Feeding time on the farm. 10 o’clock at night. Bleating lambs . Lambs are going great thankfully took time off work to care for them as they are week old and had a near death experience. They are vulnerable to deteriorate quickly if they don’t consolidate their feeding pattern. I know the volume and strength they are consuming. They look like they are putting on some weight! Very rewarding. Very tiring. They are very cute though

22.01.2022 Mr Ted is the dominant male in the paddock. He loves feeding time. Tonight he decided to eat the sheep/calf pellets . Because he can, he doesn’t like them but doesn’t want the sheep and calf to have them. Too funny.

22.01.2022 Our Ruby Rose needs her bottle every morning and Lazarus the lamb does too. Ruby thinks she’s a lamb and Lazarus think he’s a calf. They are so cute though and best friends. Our beautiful niece Lily loves feeding them. Hope you have a wonderful day and weekend.

22.01.2022 Sheep yarded and drafted into ewes and lambs ready for vaccinations and tagging. (Except the one helicopter ewe!) Farmcallgippsland provides this service for our valued customers. We can come to your farm too! These are our own Suffolk Sheep and we have 30replacement ewe lambs from this drop. So our breeding program is starting to show results with a more even and consistent lamb conformation. They are growing more evenly and the genetics are showing. Love this part of farming.

21.01.2022 Farmcallgippsland has been enjoying building a fence for a customer wanting to keep kangaroos and deer out and his horses in! So Vern and our son Luke have been working hard to get this fence built while enjoying this glorious weather.

21.01.2022 Busy mums in the @farmcallgippsland maternity ward. Yes Rona is wreaking havoc, but when a baby is coming......it’s coming!!!! Twins central!

20.01.2022 Please stay covid safe , wear a mask, wash your hands and social distance. Even mr Ted couldn’t keep his distance. He just loves a cuddle. He works so hard at night making sure the foxes social distance too!!!

19.01.2022 Hay season is upon us soon. Vern is taking a walk through our hay paddock. The grass is clean weed free. Mixed native grasses with plenty of tree foil and newly sown pasture mix added this year. It will be pressed into small squares. Please contact us here at Farmcall Gippsland on 0448815088 for further details.

15.01.2022 Wow so much rainfall over the weekend. Hope everyone is safe and dry inside. A break in the weather allowed us to check on the water runoff at the bottom of the hill. The creek looked like it at dropped a foot from this morning so that is good. I think we’ve had over 4 inches over the last few days. Looks like a great hay season ahead of us . Hope your property is getting the water draining off. Looks like our Max the Sarplainiac is enjoying his playtime. He just loves his water time. Miss Rosie does too but she was smelling for mr fox ! Clever girl that one.

15.01.2022 Evening walk amongst the lambs. So many, another two tonight. Roy the kelpie is working with his muzzle tonight. Just trialling him. He is going through a maturing faze so has been ‘nipping’ the lambs a bit rough. Anyway these lambs look very happy nibbling on the green grass too.

14.01.2022 Busy night at Farmcall Gippsland our ewes are lambing. Mr Ted is on high alert protection mode. He just loves his job

13.01.2022 Farmcall Gippsland has another happy customer!! Vern enjoys having variety in his work . This project was digging out and filling stone and gravel for veggie patch pathway, and garden path. Thankyou for your continued support!

13.01.2022 Hi everyone! We have a new member of the farmcallgippsland family. A newborn heifer calf . Isn’t she pretty? Her mother rejected her , so guess we can feed her. She is so sweet. I’ll need a name though?

12.01.2022 FarmCall has enjoyed a couple of days off with the family over Christmas and Boxing Day. Vern enjoying a well earned rest in the pool. He’s been working 7 days a week for months and just needs a reboot!

12.01.2022 Sunday night ‘feels’ around the bonfire. Vern loves a great bonfire to cleanup around our farm. Show us your bonfires it’s a great time of year to clean up and in isolation it’s a positive activity to get ready for when we are socialising again

11.01.2022 Lamb gangs are rife along the longwarry lamb paddocks. Incredible scenes as mobs of lambs jump, run, skid, tumble and basically have fun. They gather in their meeting place to plan the evenings frivolity.

11.01.2022 With spring in full bloom Shearing time is upon us. Mr Teddy loves his work as a livestock guardian. If you need your sheep shorn give Farmcall Gippsland a phone call on 048815088. #farmcallgippsland @farmcallgippsland

09.01.2022 At Farmcall Gippsland when we have a birthday we don’t just have birthday candles we have a bonfire

08.01.2022 A weekend job locally in Longwarry that has a happy customer a safe place for her chickens. Happy chickens happy customer win win #Farmcallgippsland

07.01.2022 Our beautiful sarplaninac who turned one this past week, is developing into a promising livestock guardian. I jokingly call him the customs officer! When I return from grocery shopping he always smells every bag to make sure I haven’t brought in any contraband!!!!

07.01.2022 Farmcall still building straight fences and corner stay assemblie’s for our customer at Nar Nar Goon. Lots of beautiful countryside to take in while working. We love it. Farmcallgippsland is here to help you. Call Vern on his mobile 0458815088

06.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day to all the dads . A different day today because of covid. But a glorious sunny day to just be outside on the farm.

05.01.2022 Vern has encountered a snake on our property today that was sunning itself . Our stock agent told us he saw another one yesterday. So note to self on the warm autumnal/winter days, be alert for snakes sleeping in the glorious sunshine.

04.01.2022 Poor little lambs . This can happen with twins. The mother chooses the stronger lamb. So guess Farmcall Gippsland is going to be up all night!! Thankfully I got them in time.

04.01.2022 Some good information for planning and keeping up with farm maintenance. If it’s going to be wet this spring, maybe think about your drains are they clean and able to move lots of water in a big downfall which can happen with La Nina climate.

02.01.2022 Social distancing is very important at the Farmcallgippsland home farm. We teach everyone to be aware of covid 19. Keep your 1.5 m distance . We are all in this together! There is always someone in the crowd that will throw caution to the Wind #socialdistancing #farmcallgippsland
