18.01.2022 The headers are rolling, trying to stay in front of the wet weather on the horizon, canola coming off nicely.

18.01.2022 Free to roam the frosty paddocks as they please. Happy hens, healthy eggs!

17.01.2022 How’s this for the best looking Nicoise Salad ever from the amazing @harveststore&kitchen in Newport! We’re stoked to be supplying these guys with pastured eggs and watching them work their magic like this! YUM!!!!!

14.01.2022 Happy, healthy and free to roam where they please, when they please! That’s life for the Farmer Brown’s girls...pastured life is the very best life a hen can have.

13.01.2022 It’s top up time and our girls are are being treated to the best as usual, grains and grit that are grown and milled right here on Gillinghall! This feed, of course supplements their foraging and grazing on insects and grasses.....that’s what pastured means!

12.01.2022 Beautiful evening in the range last night!

11.01.2022 There’s something wonderfully old fashioned about popping to the corner store for locally produced milk, bread, eggs, cheese and meat! And we’re so spoilt these days because at Mudgee Corner Store you can also get a great coffee while you shop for your fantastic local produce such as The Little Big Dairy Co. Milk, High Valley Cheese Co. , Robert Stein Vineyard, Winery and Farm chorizo and salami, Olive-A-Twist Mudgee sourdough and so much more!!! We feel very blessed to live in a region that appreciates local producers and shows it’s support by shopping local at great stores such as this!

10.01.2022 Jack Frost sure came to visit this morning!!

10.01.2022 Happy harvest everyone. We’re in for some hot ones.

08.01.2022 Saturday breaky inspo: Green eggs and ham, as the Dr Seuss fans in our house call it! If you’ve got some herbs in the garden throw them in your processor with some Dijon mustard, capers, pickled cuces, garlic, oil and S&P (and anchovies if you’re that way inclined), poach up a couple of Farmer Brown’s best and serve them on some ham off the bone and sourdough....Green eggs and ham, a great way to start your weekend!

08.01.2022 The gorgeous Paula, is a lover of all animals but has a particularly soft spot for dogs. At home in Argentina Paula is Mum to many rescue dogs, our Maremmas are very happy she’s joined the Farmer Brown’s team, as are we!!!!

08.01.2022 WARNING: Sunday arvo cuteness overload!!!

07.01.2022 Dozens of gorgeous eggs...that’s what we’re about!

07.01.2022 Well that sure was a gorgeously full moon....of course we think it was looking pretty yolky!

07.01.2022 It might not look like much but access to BLUE SKIES & GREEN GRASS make a dramatic difference to hen welfare and egg quality, both excellent reasons to seek out PASTURED EGGS when you buy your eggs! Better for the hens, better for environment, better for you!

07.01.2022 Before our eggs are cleaned and packed they are passed over a light to check for imperfections, this process is called candling and it ensures our customers get only the best of the best!

06.01.2022 Happy Hour at Farmer Brown’s, this is why we usually feed the dogs after dark when the girls are all up in their roosts !

06.01.2022 And now to Harvest of a different kind! As the headers roll out across the country, those in the vicinity of Newport NSW can head to Harvest Store & Kitchen where you’ll find Farmer Brown’s Pastured Eggs looking their best in great breakfasts like this! While you’re there you can pick up a dozen or two to take home.

06.01.2022 The figs are in! And we’ve found a great recipe from the ever inspiring Maggie Beer to make our eggs and figs sing together! Maggie’s Fig Clafoutis (found at maggiebeer.com.au), is perfect for these Autumn evenings! Give it a go and let us know what you think. INGREDIENTS 10g unsalted butter for greasing 1/3 cup caster sugar... 7 fresh ripe figs 2 tbspn plain flour sifted 1/3 cup full cream milk 1/2 cup thickened cream 3 eggs 1 cup crème fraîche to serve 1 tbspn icing sugar sifted Preheat a fan forced oven to 180C. Grease a one litre flan dish with unsalted butter and dust with ten grams of caster sugar, set aside. Cut the figs in half and place them into the base of flan tin. Place the flour and remaining sugar into a medium mixing bowl and whisk in the milk and cream, add the eggs and continue whisking until smooth. Pour over the figs and place into the preheated oven to bake for thirty to thirty five minutes until the top is puffed and golden and there is only a very small wobble to the clafoutis, this time will also depend on your oven. Remove from the oven and allow to stand for five minutes, then dust with icing sugar and serve with crème fraiche.

06.01.2022 Sun goes down on another gorgeous weekend at Gillinghall, (how’s the last minute golden glow!) ......See you next week! Thanks @Joep Van de Kruijs for the !!!!!

02.01.2022 Soaking up the rays on this beautiful Spring day!

02.01.2022 Our youngest girls have just started laying. A record breaking 15 trays from them today! Good girls!

01.01.2022 And we’re rolling....harvest has begun with the windrowing of the canola. Getting the timing of the windrowing just right is essential to maximizing yield and oil content. We’re wishing our farmers all the best as we head into harvest this year, fingers crossed the conditions hold and we can all end this year on a good note!
