24.01.2022 A month ago I was a Covidiot, I thought here we go again just another media hype up... then it didnt stop...it stuffed up all my productions in China.. that an...noyed me...it canceled over 100 days of live shows and seminars I had booked... that really annoyed me... but then I found out its not all bullshit we are not invincible. I was a Covidiot because I truely am a product of the magic of science, the bliss we live in in the western world of Vaccines, penicillin, chemotherapy, antiretrovirals, Incredible healthcare and infrastructure, a life which meant when I travelled abroad Ive seen the plague, yellow fever, malnutrition ...but that it only affects those places where they dont have what we have... but sneaky diseases have a habit of wiping out our crops and livestock and native animals here constantly in agriculture ... why are we humans in these places any different. We are not. Im not a Covidiot any more... we can all learn from reality. The reality is, that as good as modern medicine is, reality is reality, and you cant just pretend it isnt so. Vaccines, a highly proactive scientific field and top rate biosecurity are the only reason we can have the economic system we take for granted... but more than that, its the vulnerable that can be taken from us and the health care system we take for granted that will be overwhelmed by this novel Coronavirus. Dont be a Covidiot like me. -use hand sanitiser like you have a some OCD problem - wash your hands with soap often like you dont want touch what every other bloke has been touching... -keep distance from other humans.. as though if they were to suddenly dance like John Travolta youd be clear of their awesome moves -leave Tinder and Grindr for a month ... yes that random 15 minute hookup may even get you more than Covid19 -instead check on your neighbours see if they need anything have conversations across the fence, hall alleyway, building .... talk to real people around you ..connect with them through kindness and caring. -...but dont be a dick by hanging out with grandad and grandma.. but do call them, drop off what they need and FaceTime them.. half the fun of this whole thing will be trying to make that work... - work from home if your lucky enough to still have a job... - Im not an expert just a bloke in 14 days Self Isolation after seeing whats happening on planet earth for myself... cause I was a Covidiot and I thought it was ok to go clear my head by having fun overseas... And encourage your mates not to be Covidiots too we got this.

19.01.2022 Introducing our new farm vet uniforms... Calendar available to order soon!

18.01.2022 UPDATE: this is a GAB allocation to be released in 6 weeks. Ive told David Chen with ABC that theres a lot of concern out there about how bores are used and ...licences awarded. People are really educated on water, so its important were given detail. Tell us if its a GAB allocation; name the aquifer; tell us if its a strategic allocation. We need that level of detail. Its essential State and Local govt work incredibly closely, and that officers talk to people on the ground. Door knock farmers and hear what theyve got to say. The GAB is old - formed Millenia ago. Its massive but it recharges slowly. Its a precious reserve. GAB allocations tell us something: that the shallower aquifers cant handle more licences. I urge caution when granting water licences and transparency because people are worried about whats happening above the ground and whats happening below the ground. EARLIER: I needed a second coffee when I read this in The Chronicle yesterday morning. Its my understanding that these allocations are from strategic reserves but I need to confirm this. #ScenicRim and #SouthernLockyer are outside Toowoomba Region but we have a responsibility to advocate for #CrowsNest and surrounds. Ive requested a meeting with Dr Anthony Lynham MP who is the minister for the Qld Department of Natural Resources - along with Cr Nancy Sommerfield - Toowoomba Regional Council and Mayor Paul Antonio - to discuss community concerns about awarding additional water licences. Im from a farm and believe youll be hard pressed to find farmers in the Crows Nest area who think we should be putting more or bigger straws into our aquifers. What are your thoughts, please?

17.01.2022 My kids 9 & 6 have been saving up for various thing for themselves that they want. My daughter (6) has a lay-by here at a local store for a stuffed bunny she ...fell in love with. It was expensive (for her) at $37 but shes worked hard to pay off $17 of it. We found out today that store is closing its doors this Saturday so she needs to get going if shes gonna pay off the $20 in time. Yesterday they made $5 each by selling some things on marketplace that they made up. I asked my son (9) to give me the $5 note he had in his room and Id give him the $10 and give the $5 to my daughter. He ran to his room then came back with the $10 note still. He passed it to his sister and said, you take the lot because you need it sooner than me to get your bunny before the store closes on Saturday, and with the virus its important we are kind. When you feel like youre failing at parenting (which for most parents is at least once a day! Ha!) these are the moments that make every little lesson worth it! I am so proud of him. Edited to Update: Bunny has been purchased and little miss is thrilled!

11.01.2022 This video shows me using distraction to re-set and connect with a disconnected horse suffering separation anxiety. Youll see she is a little bit pushy and de...fensive towards me due to her level of anxiety. By offering clear distraction & not a lot but just being available for her, she is able to centre with me and relax. I explain a fair few concepts throughout - so turn the volume on. If you are interested in how to use distraction to re connect a horse; how being centred, calm, strong and available helps horses to reach to you; how horses have a bubble and how we need to respect that as well as teaching them to respect our bubble (without aggression) then watch on! This is a mare who hasnt had a lot of education and only just a small amount of handling.

06.01.2022 On Wednesday the 18th we had a 5 week old bull calf disappear from the field. No trace of what happened or where he went. His mother balled for him for two days... to no avail. On Saturday when we checked the cows his mother ran around the field bawling and we followed her (they usually know where to look and will tip you off if you watch them) however she stopped in the field and appeared to start grazing again. We kept driving checking other areas. We walked every fence row and checked every brush pile, no luck. We began to assume that coyotes had carried him off. I found it hard to believe that a 40-50 pound coyote would carry off a 150 pound calf and not leave a trace. So each time I would check the cows I would look for that calf. However, New calves were being born and life was moving on as we came to grips with the idea that the calf was not coming back. Well, this morning when I checked on the cows I happened to drive through the area where his mother was grazing on Saturday and noticed what I thought was a huge groundhog hole. It was so big I backed up to see how deep the hole was and I noticed something moving in the bottom. I parked the tractor and got off to take a closer look. Well, after 8 days, I had found that calf! He was 8 feet deep in a sink hole in the middle of the pasture field. His mother was not grazing on Saturday, but trying to show us where her baby was! So I made a quick phone call for reinforcements, 20 minutes later David Witt arrived with ropes, a shovel, and a ladder! I opened the hole wider and put the ladder down in it. I climbed in with the calf and slipped a rope around his chest. We had planned to tube feed him with electrolytes but he had so much energy we decided to just get him out of the hole. I lifted him as high as I was able and David pulled him the rest of the way with the rope. As soon as the calf got to the opening of the hole he began flailing trying to climb out and kicked me in the side of my head. By the time I got out of the hole the calf had slipped out of the rope and was chasing the herd across the pasture trying to nurse any cow that would stand still! He finally found his mother who wasnt 100% sure she wanted him to nurse. However, once he got ahold of her udder he wasnt letting go. Her bag was swollen from 8 days without a calf nursing but in less than 10 minutes it was empty and tight up against her belly. The calf had a huge milk mustache and his mother warmed up to him quickly. She began to bawl with excitement and used her chin to hold him against her like she was hugging him. It was clear she was grateful to have him back! We were also grateful and amazed to have him back. I have prayed many prayers in the past week for the calfs safe return. I truly believe in the power of prayer as I have seen its results in my life on many occasions. This story reminds me of the Good Shepherd and the fact that Jesus will leave the 99 to find the one lost sheep. If you are lost, stuck in a hole, or just separated from the flock, Jesus offers redemption and an eternity with him in Heaven. All it takes from you is the acceptance of His love and forgiveness. Jesus has already done the work on the cross and He is searching for anyone who will answer his call. If you have never accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and would like to speak with someone about it feel free to reach out to me, I would love to pray with you about it. 05.01.2022 I am an aussie from Melbourne living in Rome. Last Saturday week there was a flash-mob notice sent via social media to stand on your balcony and clap your hands at 12 midday to say thank you to all the staff at hospitals and others who are working to keep us safe. At midday I opened my windows to hear the sound of loud, joyful, defiant clapping extending for miles. Everyone did it. I was balling my eyes out. Then everyone stayed on their balconies playing music and just watc...hing and waving to each other. It was a tough day - our first Saturday as a nation in quarantine without work to distract us and another 3 weeks to go. Signs written on sheets hung from balconies appeared all over the neighborhood from Friday. They say Andra tutto bene everything will be OK. They are also hand written and pinned to fences. Today i went out for a walk carrying my government decreed certificate that says the reason i am outside my house is for health (it is allowed to take a walk for mental and physical health reasons) without which I will be fined 200 Euro on the spot. There were no cars and barely any people, most of them wearing masks. Masks have run out so my Hermes scarf had to do - decorated with sacred Maori images that represent life in a new house, I figured it was a good substitute. This is not like being on holiday. When I dont have my job (working from home) to distract me i dont feel like catching up on household tasks or reading, i feel like crying, or sleeping, or running. And i am really only proficient at crying. Several nights a week we zoom (skype) with neighborhood friends, Italians and foreigners alike, for aperitivo or dinner. At the end of a day we are all ready to hear from and talk with others. We are all consuming a lot more alcohol and sugar than usual, all unsettled. The lack of traffic and industry means Rome smells green and the light is different, clearer. Spring flowers blanket the closed parks, and all you can hear is birdsong. https://www.facebook.com/romandaze/

04.01.2022 DID YOU SEE LANDLINE on THE ABC? BUY ONLY BIRDSEYE AND EDGELL This was shown on the program Landline on the ABC Think about this and circulate to your fam...ily and friends: The ONLY Australian manufacturer of frozen Australian grown vegetables (Simplot Australia) is not far from closing because a number of the other well-known Australian brands have moved their plants to New Zealand in order to capture the Chinese vegetable market where they market via New Zealand to Australian tables (without the food being labelled specifically as Chinese) and Simplot is finding it hard to compete. SHOULD SIMPLOT CLOSE, THIS MEANS THAT NO AUSTRALIAN GROWN FROZEN VEGETABLES WILL BE AVAILABLE AT ALL AND WE WILL BE RELYING ON FOOD GROWN TOTALLY OUTSIDE AUSTRALIA. For a number of reasons this is not a good situation. 1. As most people know, other countries do not necessarily have the strict guidelines for growing their vegetables that Australia has and by buying Australian we can be sure that lethal chemicals that may be used in other countries will not be used on Australian vegetables. 2. We would be losing Australians jobs. 3. If ever the world became unstable regarding wartime we would not be able to feed ourselves It is imperative that we all support these Australian brands selling good Australian vegetable products (via Simplot): Birdseye and Edgell. Next time you shop, please think about the future of Australian food. What do you reckon folks? Lets buy Birdseye and Edgell. Some of us love our designer labels. We buy premium brand shoes, premium brand clothing and well known premium perfumes and handbags. BUT ... we also look for and buy the cheapest food we can for our children to eat. That doesnt make sense. This is so true. The farmers in Tasmania are extremely worried about Simplots impending closure. They also have a lone food processing plant in Bathurst subjected to the same uncertainty. If these last remaining plants close, it means that China then has total control over our fresh/frozen vegie industry. It is particularly disturbing to see that Chinese-grown vegetables are coming in branded as a product of New Zealand. PLEASE PASS THIS TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN DONT BITCH LATER ON WHEN ALL FOOD IS IMPORTED AND EXPENSIVE JUST BECAUSE WE SAVED A FEW CENTS BUYING THE CHEAPER BRAND TODAY AND HELPED TO CLOSE DOWN AUSTRALIA COMPANIES...

03.01.2022 An another amazing silo artwork in the making! This steam train, painted by artist Tim Bowtell, represents the agricultural history of the area around Colbinab...bin in central Victoria. In the mid-1800s, German settlers established farms in the region, but needed a railway to get their produce to market. They lobbied for a railway to reach Melbourne and in 1913, they got their wish. The first grain trucks left Colbinabbin Railway Station in February 1914. + info: Colbinabbin Silo Art Trail
