21.01.2022 New family members. Never thought I'd be a horse mum - thinking back, how did I think I could avoid it??

21.01.2022 My sister made this delicious warm roasted vegetable salad for our Xmas Eve dinner. We only had to buy a couple of vegies to compliment what we already had. Was absolutely divine with the lemon, oregano and garlic buttered turkey we roasted too. Yummo.

19.01.2022 Yummy quiche for lunch. Done our way - 1 cup each of cream, milk, grated cheese. Whisked together with 6 eggs. Add any leftover meat and vegies. Bake for 45-55 mins and voila - easy peasy lunch. We grew everything except for the mushrooms and cheddar cheese.

15.01.2022 Enjoying the sunset today. Poor hubby is watching this from the back of the dairy while I look after our girls and sipping cider with my family who are visiting. This is the life:)

07.01.2022 I wanted to make mushroom sauce tonight so I was very pleased to see that we had a full bottle of milk that we had left for long enough to settle. Check out the cream here - even hubby was impressed with how much our girls had produced. At the moment, our herd is producing milk that is 4% fat and 3.25% protein. These two components are what we look at as benchmarks for the quality of our milk. There are other benchmarks also, but I'll leave them for another time. The mushroom sauce was pretty divine:).

04.01.2022 Apologies for the lack of posts but things have been very hectic in our neck of the woods. Hubby and I can't seem to quieten our minds when it comes to thinking of how we can continue our lives on a farm. It is trying times in most agricultural sectors, but we are determined to make this our life. So when there's a problem, I have always believed that the answer lies within, and in this case, the answer lay right in front of us. We just want to share our way of life and wish to inspire others to recreate some farmsteading ways in their lives.
