07.01.2022 On March 20, its Australias National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence. As those of you in our education system already know, bullying is a huge problem in our schools and communities. Then, there are the online communities our kids are increasingly engaged with. These are equally susceptible to bullying behaviours, with the added problem of their relative secrecy and lack of transparency to teachers and parents as their support people. When kids are still in thei...r pre-schooling years, theyre not in online communities and are probably too young to understand concepts of bullying and bullying behaviours. However, there are things we can teach children at this age to help them develop a clear and healthy respect for their own body safety, as well as other people, their bodies and their boundaries. This lays the foundation for safer behaviours later, so its really important to begin the work early on. Holly-ann Martin, ParentTV Protective Behaviors Expert and Child Abuse Prevention Educator, says we actually need to start teaching and role-modelling consent from when kids are babies. Not only does this help safeguard children from child abuse, but it can also help them identify and respond effectively to bullying behaviour when theyre at school. We also need to teach children how to recognise when theyre feeling unsafe, and what to do if they are. This will enable them to seek the help they need, if and when they are at risk. The things we teach our kids now can help keep them and other kids safe at every age. Have you helped your child create a safety team?

04.01.2022 We currently have some limited vacancies available. If you know someone who is looking for quality childcare please advise them to contact the centre so we can arrange a centre tour.

01.01.2022 This Tuesday, February 11, is Safer Internet Day, a worldwide event to raise awareness about online safety. For some of the parents in our centres community, this will be new territory, and for others, it will be a topic theyre all too familiar with. Even if kids arent spending much time online at the moment, its always good to be prepared! When our kids first start to go online, parents get an education. Its sort of like travelling to a foreign country. The rules online are different, theres a different language and currency, and, like all exotic locations, there are some back streets you really wouldnt want to get stuck down... https://parenttv.com//welcome-to-the-world-wide-web-getti/
