14.01.2022 A custom hat band for a good mate of mine who served in the Australian Air-force and during 2003 was deployed to Iraq. When away on a camping trip we were talking about hats, I asked if he still had his service slouch hat, he said regrettably he no longer did. So a long search began and low and behold I found one, not only in his size but also with a manufactured date of 2003.... I remolded the crown and made a hat band with a few nods to the hats heritage including creases to the front of the band to give the effect of the traditional pugaree. I also included his Iraq service ribbon, tapered the band at the overlap to emulate the shape of an aircraft wing and locked off the join with kangaroo hide thonging, the silhouette of a kangaroo is in the middle of the Australian Air Force logo.
