06.01.2022 Most days, I’m asked this question, Can you help me find a supplier? The answer is yes, but what type of supplier are you looking for? There are hundreds to choose from, and it can be extremely confusing when starting out. If you don’t have a plan in place, then you are likely to be led by circumstance rather than strategy, and this may not deliver the ideal outcomes to your business. Here's a simple framework and four key areas you can focus on to get sta...rted. Developing your sourcing criteria: this will give you a framework to work within and ensure that you ask all the right questions when scoping a potential sourcing partner. Things to consider: information about your sourcing partner, order quantities, compliance, ethical sourcing code, quality standards etc. Cost quotations: as a start we suggest that you plan to procure quotes from between two to four suppliers, to validate if the prices that you’ve been provided are competitive. Deciding on your sourcing model: this is really dependent on your experience and the complexity of what you’re looking to manufacture. If you have not sourced anything before, then we do not recommend that you enter into this without some professional guidance. There is simply too much at stake! During module six in SYFB, you will gain an insight into the processes and best practices involved in sourcing. Minimum order quantity: you may have heard the term MOQ. The smaller the order, the harder it is to find interested suppliers willing to produce your order. As you can see, there is a lot to consider when establishing your sourcing strategy. 03.01.2022 It’s not too late to make sure as a fashion business owner you are selling the absolute most you can this Christmas trade period. 1 Make it easy to buy from you: make sure your website is in tip-top shape, optimised for mobile, abandon carts are set up, proper systems and processes are in place. Make your socials shoppable, add swipe up to your Instagram stories and feed posts are tagged with products. 2 Advertise: Be prepared to increase your ...spend this season. Invest in Facebook Advertising if you’ve got it set up correctly, consider sending more products to the right influencers to spread the word, and ensure you’re advertising on Google if you need help with search and brand awareness. 3 Don't forget email marketing! Up the ante on your email frequency, and make sure you’re letting your subscribers know about postage cut-offs and shipping times, special offers, Christmas Packs etc. And because we couldn’t stop at three. Here’s a bonus tip! Consider slowing down on your posting to your feed, and increase your Instagram Story posting.
