22.01.2022 A text I received last week from a happy Kalbar Solar client..... Hey Steve, just thought I’d again express my appreciation for helping us to decide that it was time for solar 7 years ago. I think now probably the smartest financial decision we’ve ever made. I think that more than anything your advice to go with SMA inverter and Bosch panels, at the time the best quality products on the market, has worked well in our favour. I had been a little disappointed at the drop off i...n yield over the last year or so, thinking that the panels were showing their age, but when the roof came off for the insurance job a few weeks ago, I gave the panels a really good clean. There was plenty of dirt but also an oily grime, probably from the gum trees I think. 2 days ago my yield for the day was 31.779 kWh the 2nd highest reading I’ve ever had, and the highest since Oct 2012, just after you installed them. its also 5 kWh higher than same time last year pre clean. In other words almost nil drop in actual performance in 7 years. I think that’s pretty extraordinary. So thank you. And perhaps to tell your customers something that will encourage them to see the value of a good clean every couple of years. Always nice to be appreciated, and to be appreciated for giving good advice on a quality product that has stood the test of time is extra nice. This customer might have been lucky enough to get in with the old 50c feed in Tarif, but investing in quality Solar is still one of best financial decisions you can make, with systems we are designing currently giving 15-30% return on investment it is still one of the best places a home or business owner can invest money. (Businesses especially as most of the power need is during the day when the Solar is making power) Also Cleaning really does make a difference. Particularly out here in our rural area where we have plenty of dust in the atmosphere and in many places trees near by enough to drop residue on panels So let us know if you would like a price on a good Solar investment. 19.01.2022 When is the time to replace and old AC unit? Here’s a helpful article with some good ideas. While some old units only need a good deep coil & fan clean to get them functioning again. Others are struggling using a heap of power your just not getting value out of. Either way modern MHI AC units use half the power of most older units and a third of the power of some. 14.01.2022 Cheapest & quickest way to warm your home is reverse cycle air conditioning. And this graphic puts it in numbers. I always get the argument locally that free fire wood is cheaper, but somewhere else years ago I saw a graphic showing the cost of running a chainsaw and paying your self a minimal $20/hr as similar if not more expensive that reverse cycle AC. And I also add AC is like a fire that cuts its own wood and gets up before you do in the morning and lights itself so... the rooms warm when you come out. That is a real treat setting the timer so the house is warm when you get up. Or turning the bedroom AC on from in bed. 5-10mins and the room is warm and you can get dressed in warmth. 08.01.2022 I know it’s a little late in the season to promote Air Conditioning. But I just saw this and it is a really great promotional piece from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. It really describes the advantages that AC brings to our lives. They captured that sense of season shift that comes when you come in out of a crazy Qld summer of mid-high 30’s and step into a mid spring day of 25 and low humidity. And also how a simple burst Of ac can make the difference between getting easil...y off to sleep or lying there unsettled for a while.
