11.01.2022 A pen and ink portrait on paper by Jerzy Faczynski, signed and dated 1972, framed in a vintage frame with new glass, backboard and hanging cord. 15x12 inches 155 plus p&p Jerzy Faczynski (Rykowy, now Ukraine 1917 - Liverpool 1994). Polish painter, architect and poet. In 1936 he began his studies at the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology. After the outbreak of WW2, he served in aviation on the Hungarian front, was interned, but escaped and manage...d to get to France, where he joined the Polish Army formed there. After the occupation of France by the Third Reich, he evacuated to Great Britain, where he served in the Polish Air Force as a sergeant. From 1942 he continued his studies at the Polish School of Architecture in Liverpool, and from 1943 at the Technical Department of the University of Liverpool, where in 1946 he obtained the degree in engineering. He worked as architect all while continuing his artistic career. Between 1940 and 1967 he had nine individual and twenty-one collective exhibitions.
