24.01.2022 NEST BOXES Nest boxes are an important aspect to wildlife conservation and are built especially for animals to nest in. Nest boxes are usually built for particular species of birds, but some mammals such as possums may also use them. Tree hollows are part of the natural ecosystem and are a valuable resource for our native wildlife. Research has been documented to show that Australia has about 300 vertebrate species that use tree hollows for various purposes, such as:... *Nesting *Protection from predators *Shelter and roosting One specie that has adapted well to the artificial nest boxes is the lorikeet although, birds, possums, gliders, bats and reptiles accept the artificial nest boxes in urban development areas. Some of the Nest Box in treebenefits of the artificial nest boxes are: *A greater understanding of urban wildlife *The opportunity to monitor fauna *An invaluable education tool Artificial nest boxes have been a great success overseas for many years however, only recently have they been accepted as a valid conservation tool in Australia For all enquiries please contact us directly on 0413 940 722 r visit our website for more information www.faunacrossings.com.au

23.01.2022 LOG CULVERT CROSSINGS We specialize in log fauna culvert crossings which appear to be a very suitable fauna crossing for Koalas and various other species. Culverts or dedicated fauna tunnels are often used and can be made wider to cater for a greater variety of fauna species. The use of furniture such as rocks, logs, ropes and Fauna Log Culvert Crossing ledges and appropriate planting at entrances have been shown to facilitate the movement of some species. 19.01.2022 GREEN FLAT MAT ROPE LADDER One of the latest designs we have is the Green Flat Mat Rope Ladder. This fauna crossing is price effective and is made out of a 6mm green marine rope woven in 20mm squares and is 300mm wide. This type of fauna crossing is very safe for young marsupials and there is minimal chance of any young marsupials falling.... This has been designed to connect the habitat for gliders and possums where a road has separated their environment. The photos attached show the installation of this type of fauna crossing at Steve Irwin Way, Sunshine Coast. For all enquries contact us on 0413 940 722 or visit our website at www.faunacrossings.com.au

10.01.2022 KOALA RESTING POLES Koalas travel mainly along logs, they do travel across the ground but would prefer to travel on a log railing. Koala Resting Poles are poles designed with a fork in for the koala to rest on as they cannot travel too far without having to stop. Using these poles the koalas feel much safer as they are away from wild dogs and foxes. When we put in our log railing under the bridges through the culverts under the road, we usually erect a Koala resting pole every 10 metres. 08.01.2022 The boys continuing to create a safe environment for our beloved Koalas with our koala crossings and refuge poles prior to installation on site.

07.01.2022 Another Box Rope Ladder recently installed at Torrens Road Petrie. It is designed for the protection of small marsupials like the sugar glider, the squirrel glider and also the ringtail possum. The ladder is made in such a way that the marsupials are able to glide and land on the top parts of the ladder. As a rule they would mainly move across the top section of this Box Ladder and when in danger by our night owl they quickly dive into the Box Rope Ladder using the cage as protection.
