25.01.2022 14x6.5" triple pinstripe Rosewood stave shell with steel DW edge rings & inlaid Rosewood stave hoops. Here's a 1 of a kind stave shell, stave hoops, double edge, beast of a snare..... at nearly 20lbs or 8.5kg this is the heaviest snare I've made yet. No fewer than 64 individual blocks of wood tightly sandwiched between two heavy steel 1.5" rings. Those guys at DW had a good idea with the edge concept.... this shell is very lively, loud & crisp. It's the new "Big Gun" In my personal arsenal.

24.01.2022 Bamboo staves , 20mm Rosewood pinstripes, Rosewood stave hoops, 6 single point lugs, G.Way/Dunnett beer tap strainer, Gretsch 1950's butt, rims mount with custom cut mounting plate, steel wires/brass clips, Remo hazy ambo bottom, Evans onyx top

24.01.2022 I finally finished this restoration! They sat half finished in storage for a while but they're done now. Modern hardware replacements & a stave shell snare make this kit ready to tour. I have decided to sell them, you have a rare opportunity to purchase a 50 year old kit that looks & plays like a new one. $2500 for the 4piece shell pack with DW floor tom legs, kick mount tom arm & custom curved cymbal arm. Cymbals & hardware for display only.... I recently purchased a vintage Pearl 4 piece kit in need of full restoration. It is a 1968 Super Deluxe, top of the range, as evidenced by the 10 lug snare & 20 lug kick. 9 ply mahogany/poplar shells with no re-rings. It will be getting re-wraped in aged marine pearl, re-chromed, inlaid rosewood stave hoops & a few hardware upgrades to make it a vintage players kit. I'll update this album as it comes together, at the mo it's only being taken apart.

23.01.2022 Why not some inlay

21.01.2022 24" Handmade Thin Ride from a Turkish B20 bronze blank 2986g At just under 3 kilos this big pie is thin & flexible..... a real wobbler! Hand hammered from a cymbal blank that was forged in Istanbul Turkey. Many hours of hammering, something like 6 or 8 different hammering sessions over several months, then I let it sit for a year in a cymbal case until I got inspired last night... Now it's had it's final shaping & top tension hammering & Has been lathed top & bottom.

20.01.2022 I re-lathed soome 100 year old K Zildjian Constantinople hats today, pre 1920 first stamp. A friend picked these up in San Fransisco a few years ago for $100 and asked me if i could turn them into useable hihats for him. These cymbals were made before HiHats had been invented, they were originaly a matched pair of marching or orchestral crash cymbals. They were thick & covered in 100years of patina, quite dark & muffled sounding as hats & not really very useable. After lathing 100 grams of bronze off the top cymbal and 150g off the bottom they have come to life. Big, dark, loud, sizzly..... I didn't want to give them back.

18.01.2022 Once in a while i come across something droolworthy. Here's some HIGH END! hardware from germany...... next level 21st century kinda stuff & custom made to your specs if need be..... not sure I'd get the lavender on teal combination but I've been a fan of cnc'd anodized aluminium since my bmx bandit days back in the 80's..... now you know what to get me for christmas... & only about 600 euros Silver- black-&green please!

17.01.2022 Fiddly rosewood & curly white cedar, rosewood stave hoops with celluloid inlay, mini COB tube lugs, G.Way "beertap" strainer & butt, steel wires/bronze clips, remo heads...... pure (modern) vintage class!

12.01.2022 A few years ago i was given a single large billet of highly figured old growth Red Ironbark & managed to resaw it into just enough pieces for a 13x6" stave snare with matching stave hoops. I dried the resawn pieces for over a year & utilised 4 natural worm holes as air vents in the shell. This ironbark is almost 3 times the hardness of maple & extremely difficult to work with...... it may never be repeated... It's for my personal collection.

10.01.2022 It's finished now, & it sounds excellent....

10.01.2022 16x16" kick 13x11.25" floor tom 12x10.25" floor tom 10x8" hanging tom 13x3.5" white cedar/silver ash stave snare... This is a personal bop conversion project I've been working on for about 3 years now....the kick was a floor tom, the floor toms were rack toms, silver ash & maple hoops with celuloid inlay, recut bearing edges. Now I'm not one to bang my own drum... but this kit sounds really good. (Actually i bang my own drums every day.) See more

09.01.2022 14"x5.5" Rosewood/Silver Ash Snare with Silver Ash hoops Mini tubes, Trick 3 position Strainer & butt, Remo ambassador top & bottom

09.01.2022 I've been re-lathing a few vintage cymbals lately... no hammering ... just thinning them down a bit.

08.01.2022 16.25" "F-Custom" hand hammered crash made form a cut down Zildjian A Custom 18" that had a few edge cracks. I've even impressed myself with this one..... 90% top hammering has produced a tightly tensioned shimmerng cymbal that sounds like a thin sheet of glass being shattered in an old tin trash can..... lovely!

08.01.2022 13x5" Rosewood stave snare with Silver Ash pinstripes & Rosewood stave hoops. Mastro strainer & adjustable butt, single point COB agile lugs. Waxed shell, hi gloss hard shellac hoops.

06.01.2022 A lovely little piccolo 14" in figured White Mahogany with silver ash stripes..... this was a custom order.

05.01.2022 I've been commisioned to make some stave hoops for a customers Ludwig "black beauty" snare & as expected they have warmed up the sound & look exceptional.

03.01.2022 A cracking little side snare with a suspension mount & customized trick strainer to fit a shell under 4"..... & some nice fiddleback tazzie oak stave hoops.
