23.01.2022 Spent the afternoon hanging works for the opening of @miss_mika_food_store . Nothing like fresh walls in a brand new cafe to show off your work. Soon opening in Kingscliff.
22.01.2022 Back to the drawing board .... literally. Sculpture is taking a back seat as I dive back into designing and painting again. Watch out for these Sleeplings @penumbragallery exhibition early next year.
22.01.2022 Forgot to post the times of my open studio, just a little bit important. I also wanted to let you know I will also be having a draw for a free limited edition print as part of the event. I hope you have the time to drop by. Thursday & Friday 10 - 4, Saturday 9 - 12 .
21.01.2022 ‘The Gatherers’ is now available on @bluethumbart
21.01.2022 Anyone recognise this character from a loved children’s book? I have spent the last couple of months on this commission and have learnt much about painting portraits. Just the Hungry Caterpillar to go and then I can send her home.
21.01.2022 Off she goes today to her forever home. This current client wanted to pay in instalments so I was quite happy to have this little girl’s company in my studio until it was time for departure. Is it weird that I talk about my artworks as little people?
21.01.2022 Watercolour is so tricky, one minute the colours are vibrant, the next minute you overwork them and the colours are murky. Will give them another go tonight.
20.01.2022 This rabbit is looking a little cranky.
20.01.2022 'The Emperor's New Clothes' is being delivered to the Grammar Art Show in Toowoomba along with two other pieces from my latest collection. The show will be opening on the 29th but are available online now from their website below. If you are wondering why I titled this piece after a well known fairytale, I was inspired by the concept of perception in this story. Too often we are have a skewed view of the world. We believe what we think is correct even if it is not so. Over th...e last year I have been delving further into the impact of humans upon native animals and habitats. We have the perception that the choices we make about animals and the environment are ideal and are in the best interests of everyone, even if we don't want to see the reality of this impact. We alter natural habitats to make ourselves more comfortable but in doing so miss out on the importance of nature. https://www.grammar art show.com/shop/
19.01.2022 Thanks @bluethumbart second staff pic this week.
19.01.2022 Missed the post office yesterday, looking forward to sending this beauty off tomorrow with an extra little surprise.
18.01.2022 Playing around with a bit of watercolour... need to loosen up a lot more with this medium
18.01.2022 The second time I have painted Max from the Wild Things, this as a plush toy.
18.01.2022 Another great day in the studio yesterday. One of the familiar faces was @libbydyerart . This fellow artist has had some really challenging times of late but came to support me nonetheless. She felt moved to purchase one of my sculptures, ‘Lure of the Piper’. Very fortunate to have friends that support my art journey such as Libby, always looking for ways to encourage and help others. Be sure to check out her page, a talented artist in her own right.
17.01.2022 Spent the afternoon with my seven year old daughter setting up the space for the open studio. I think she was even more excited than I was. This house holds special memories, the first place we bought when my husband and I married 13 years ago. Will thoroughly enjoy sitting here painting for the next three days, if nothing else than to be in this tranquil space. Don’t forget I will be here 10 - 4 Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9-12 . 1/60 Third Avenue Palm Beach
17.01.2022 My September newsletter went out last night so be sure to check your inbox... with a special surprise. If you want to be part of my community, check out the link in my bio. Have a great day everyone!
16.01.2022 One flower left to go on this painting, probably the longest I have ever worked on one piece. Moving to a series of small quick pieces next to change it up.
15.01.2022 Thought I better post a final photo of my latest commission. Really liked the concept of this work of childhood and classic children’s literature. It was right up my alley. It really reminded of the imaginative play of my own childhood. Climbing mulberry trees to collect silk worms, cartoons that only played on a Saturday morning, imaginary friends, tea parties with my stuffed toys... What is your special memory of childhood?
15.01.2022 #sold and off to a repeat collector. Thank you @quilladesignemporium .
14.01.2022 This lovely is still hanging out @tinytreecafe for another week and a half.
13.01.2022 #sold Thank you @bluethumbart .
11.01.2022 This little piece has been with me for a while but when a collector saw it again in my open studio virtual tour on instagram they snapped it up. Happy to be finally sending her on her way this week.
11.01.2022 Ooh a flash from the past. Painted this little guy about 13 years ago as a commission. My painting style has changed so much. Still love the crazy small eye which was part of my original style but you have to move on and evolve as an artist.
11.01.2022 Looking for something to do these holidays? I am excited to announce I will be having an open studio from October Thursday 1st - Saturday 3rd. Come see what I am working on. I will have some new pieces, prints and sale on some clearance items. Put it in your diary, I look forward to seeing you. 1/60 Third Avenue Palm Beach
11.01.2022 Still a bit of work to do on this piece until I am happy with it. Third night working on this piece.
11.01.2022 Been working on something small and sweet for @artisticsoulsgallery auction next month.
07.01.2022 A bit special when you see your work on signage for a local business.
06.01.2022 So much fun painting this little guy last night. Sugar gliders are just so cute.
06.01.2022 Little photo of me working in the studio compliments of @heatherangus64 who visited yesterday. Had a brief power shortage yesterday but did not mind the quiet, a nice contrast to the noise of home. Such a treat to be painting during the day, so much easier to see the details in my work. Hope to see you today 1/60 Third Avenue Palm Beach 10- 4pm.
05.01.2022 Having fun with these quick watercolour pieces. Going to try working with 600gsm paper next so I can go go all out with the watercolour bleeding.
05.01.2022 It is getting to that time of the year when you have to start fretting about what to buy for your loved ones .... or do you? Wrap your eye balls around this one - 15% off sale Art Lovers Australia until the end of November. Don't forget the code xmas15 for your discount.
04.01.2022 Love the feel of clay at the plasticity stage.
03.01.2022 #sold thanks to @bluechipart . Sometimes a painting takes longer to sell only because it needs the right pair of eyes to see it. Love it when a gallery supports your vision and appreciates art that is a bit outside of the square.
02.01.2022 The Open Studio is now open for you to get your fix of art these holidays. I will be here painting on some new pieces for the next three days. Look forward to seeing you. 1-3 October Thursday- Friday 10 - 4pm, Saturday 9 - 12 . 1/60 Third Avenue Palm Beach
02.01.2022 Playing around with watercolour, going to be a bit more playful with my brushwork in the next piece. Want to see this one and others up close? I will have them on display at my open studio 1-3 October at 1/60 Third Avenue Palm Beach, Thurs- Fri 10-4, Sat 9-12
01.01.2022 Thanks @bluechipart for supporting female artists.
01.01.2022 I received a lovely message from a collector last week. She explained that the poem that I illustrated by Mary Sarton deeply connected to her own life experiences and touched her heart. When you create art you never know what profound effect it may have on another human being.
