07.01.2022 Meet Jamiela! Jamiela is a Psychologist specialising in complex trauma. She has always been interested in human rights and mental health, particularly issues impacting women. Across 7 years of studying Psychology and working in the field, Jamiela developed a passion for advocating and helping victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Jamiela provides her clients with the resources required to heal and empower themselves following traumatic incidents. Jamiela has experi...ence across the Not for Profit, Government and private sector where she has been committed to providing effective prevention and early intervention for victims of violence. This has included contributions to 100 women (philanthropy in WA), suicide intervention, emergency consultation for victims of sexual assault, group and individual therapy for women recovering from domestic violence, therapy in the context family court, perinatal mental health and complex trauma treatment. Jamiela is driven by her vision of a world free of violence, particularly against women and children. Where trauma no longer plagues people in our communities, where homes become a safe place for families and children. Her purpose is to provide evidence-based strategies and education that disrupts and breaks the cycles of violence in our societies. Jamiela’s dream and vision is to contribute to the eradication of violence and to promote relationships that are non-violent, supportive and respectful so that our children and future generations can thrive in a world that is safe. Jamiela is currently focused on providing trauma focused psychological services in the private sector. This has created an ongoing opportunity to assist clients in their recovery and ability to achieve post traumatic growth. We’re excited to have Jamiela as one of our panelist at Favè next week. 03.01.2022 Meet Ibrahim! Ibrahim is a passionate advocate for the youth in the Australian community. His desire and selfless commitment to the community mainly includes empowering the youth and providing them with tools to maintain a positive image. As the founding youth leader of the Organisation of African communities (OACWA), he played an instrumental role in establishing the Stop the Violence and Mentor me Reconnect programs. They are the two important OACWA youth programs for ...community awareness regarding violence and re-engaging disconnected youths. Ibrahim’s commitment to community activities earned him the 2016 OACWA Champions Award and also won 2020 Community Pillar Award in Western Australia. His devotion to the prevention of violence within the community earned him the White Ribbon Ambassador, a role given to men who actively work to prevent violence against women. Ibrahims’ passion in reducing violence within the communities allows him to collaborate with the Police Department on projects that aim to create a good relationship between the police force and African communities. He’s also part of the Police advisory board on African affairs. Ibrahim Kebe works as an Employment Consultant, wherein he provides services for job seekers and pathway for young people.
