22.01.2022 As a part of the Project Based Learning subject, students complete a personal project. The nature of the project must be ongoing, an area that they are passionate about or have an interest in and allow them to develop their knowledge and skills in. They then set a goal of what they want to achieve, plan the process to achieve this goal and then go about attempting to achieve this goal, making links with other experts along the way and problem solving when issues arise. Thi...s was obvious a bit more challenging during our period of remote learning, but some students achieved some amazing results and outcomes through this project. For his project, James Lokot used his love of music and set himself the goal to write, record, produce and publish an album. James completed his project by having his album uploaded and made available on both Spotify and Apple Music. It has been released under the artist name of Plazma and he describes it as fun, energetic electronic music. Well done James! We’d love you to support his great achievement by checking out his album and listening to it on either platform! 06.01.2022 Throughout 2020, our Year 7s have been involved in the CS in Schools program (CS stands for Computer Science.) With the help of Jack, our IT Industry Pro who volunteers his time to work with us, the students have been introduced to the basics of coding using the programming language Python. Through their Python challenges the students have learnt all about using variables and conditional statements in their code, as well as using colours to dress up their code and draw som...e pretty neat ascii pictures. Our students love their CS lessons and gain a good deal of insight from them as to what life is like working in the IT industry. In 2021 we are planning to extend our CS in Schools involvement into our Year 9 & 10 Computing electives subjects, where the students will work with a number of industry professionals on real-world computing problems.
