25.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 3 (Morgan, Nichiforenco, Holmes) FC Prahran: 5 After a solid Round 1 victory against title contenders North Melbounre, the Woods readied themselves for another tough challenge against another contender in FC Prahran. Prahran have been consistent top 3 finishers in League One and it was a massive 3 points up for grabs this early in the season.... After a lively start, Prahran took advantage of some sloppy defending to take an early 2-0 lead. Despite the scoreline, the woods were creating a load of chances and the persistence paid off as Mark Morgan and Dima Nichiforenco pulled the woods level going into half time. The second half strated much like the back end of the first, as skipper Cameron Holmes smashed one into the top corner to give the woods the lead for the first time in the match. It didnt last long as Prahran grabbed a quick equalizer before smashing in two more on the counter to finish the game off and take all 3 points. Disappointing result for the woods with the team feeling left frustrated at a number of missed goal scoring chances all throughout the match. Footscray up next this Sunday as another important 3 points will be up for grabs. #ontothenextone
25.01.2022 GAMEDAY for #collingwoodnation and it's the one we've been waiting for. 24.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 0 Pascoe Vale: 2 The cup run is officially over as Pascoe Vale edge out the woods to progress through to the quarter finals.... 'Courageous in defeat' is what the headlines should read, as the All Blacks showed they can compete against one of the better club sides in Australia. With a raft of injuries, Vice Captain Alex Meibusch being unavailable, and one sub, the woods were left with little option but to play a counter attacking game. Pascoe Vale have the joint most goals scored in Series Futsal this season, smacking in 73 goals this term. The wood's responded by showing that the defensive hype on this team is real, as Pascoe struggled to create any clear cut chances for the entire first half. 0-0 at HT.. Any first-half joy was short lived, as SFV GOAT Andre Caro powered down the wing to set up the opening goal. They got one more shortly after, with a failed clearance led to a sloppy second goal. The 2-0 lead was enough for PV, who cruised through the last 5-10 minutes to secure the win. Little time will be spent dwelling on this result as the guys get back to business this weekend against Ashburton. With 8 rounds remaining, the crucial part of the season here.
23.01.2022 After a raft of season ending injuries, the club is publically announcing that we are currently looking to add to the playing roster. If you think you have what it takes to play at this level (or know someone that does), please get in contact via the clubs facebook page. We will be running an open trail next week (Wednesday the 6th of June). The transfer window remains open for those of you unhappy with your current situation (and want to join a potential SFV playoff team). At this stage, we are looking to add 1-3 players max to the existing core players.
22.01.2022 The woods are officially reppin the Selecao as a dramatic roster overhaul has seen up to 10 Brazilians make up a new look Collingwood. Captain Cameron Holmes is the only outfield player remaining as Diogo Oliveira will co-captain and lead the new look woods towards a promotion charge in 2020. We open the league one season today against Footscray. Kick off at 4pm #jogabonito #gameday
21.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 3 (N.Hinder 2, C.Holmes) Altona: 1 Massive team win for the woods who take down second placed Altona, to jump only 3 points behind them in the race for second. This could be a win that may be crucial. ... With only one sub for the fourth consecutive week, the Woods make it 4 wins from our last 5 with another ridiculous performance on the defensive end of the floor. Led by Joey Chapman, the All Blacks limited Altona to a handful of chances for the first 39 minutes, before they scored with a minute left to play. In his second game for the club, Nigel Hinder makes it back to back braces, as his goals laid the platform for the W. Man of the match: Joey Chapman makes it back to back MOM awards, backing up his Thursday cup performance with another masterclass in Pivot defending. All credit to the ACT product whos played the entire game the last 3 weeks straight. The man has 3 lungs. Huge W for Collingwood nation as the guys climb their way back into the battle for second place.
21.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 0 Brunswick Chiefs: 3 The first leg of the SFV playoff game is a wrap as Brunswick Futsal Club take first blood and a firm advantage into the second leg this Sunday. After a run that has seen Collingwood undefeated in their last 10 state league games, the team came into the game confident underdogs against a Chiefs side thats been impressive over recent months. ... The pre-game news wasnt great for the all blacks, with four first team regulars being ruled out for the first leg through other commitments. Four new faces were drafted in for their first Collingwood games in months, and everyone gave a credible performance as the woods kept the result respectable to leave some hope for the second leg. After a strong start to the game by Collingwood, the Chiefs took control through the middle period of the first half and made the woods pay scoring 3 goals over a 7 minute period to essentially end the game as a contest. The second half remained tight as the all blacks managed to not concede as the game ended 3-0. Trey Sadler unexpectedly gave a 10 minute cameo and will give the Chiefs something to think about for the second leg as he went close to scoring a few times. Shout outs to big performances from Jack Hamilton, James Bush and Binny Desta, who were all instrumental in keeping the score respectable. All eyes will now turn to an improbable comeback this Sunday in the second leg. The cavalry will be returning as the woods go into the game at full strength. Kick off at 6:15 PM.
20.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 3 (Hinder, Meibusch, Holmes) Metropolitan: 3 Huge early season test for Collingwood nation who took on freshly relegated Metro in a massive Round 3 clash. Metro were fresh off spanking Brunswick 5-1, as Collingwood came into the game being one of only two sides still unbeaten. ... Metro came out of the blocks the sharper, grabbing the games first two opening goals to the leave the woods reeling. New boy Nigel Hinder made a goal from nothing to smash home Collingwoods first. Some more sloppy defending handed Metro their 3rd goal of the game to take a 3-1 lead into the half. The half time break was what the woods needed to re-focus, as the second half was a completely different game. After some slick movement opened up space, a pinpoint Holmes pass found Al on the back post who smashed the ball home. 3-2 the score. The momentum was now all Collingwood and another slick passing move saw the returning Binny Desta lay off a perfect pass for Holmes to finish. He made no mistake and the woods had the equaliser with 5 minutes to play. Both teams pushed for the winner without success, as the woods were denied 2 iron clad 5th foul penalties in the dying minutes. If VAR existed, wed be celebrating 3 points right now. Another huge test next week against promotion rivals Brunswick. #ontothenextone #promotiongoals
20.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 2 (2) (Hamilton, Holmes) Brunswick Chiefs: 3 (6) The woods season ends in disappointment as Brunswick take a narrow win in the second leg to take a comfortable 6-2 win overall.... With a 3-0 lead to make up, it was always going to be a tough ask for FCC, and early goals were needed in the first half to give us any chance. Despite a number of chances and controlling the first half play, Collingwood couldnt crack the Brunswick defence and went into halftime at 0-0. The second half opened with a Brunswick goal, before Hamilton and Holmes scored 2 quick goals to give the woods some cause for optimism. It remained short lived however, as Brunswick scored the killer goal to make it 5-2 overall. Some questionable refereeing lead to tempers getting out of control, as Alex Meibusch copped his second yellow with a karate kid move and the Woods were down to 4 men. Maxi Avram completed his brace to make it 3-2 and the game ended that way. Shout out to Brunswick Futsal Club who totally deserved the win over the two legs and proved why they are SFV worthy. Good luck for the upcoming season. The woods head back to the drawing board. Rome wasnt built in a day, and the all blacks will head into the next State League season on a confident high after our form shown over the last 4 months. Shouts to all the players and staff involved with the team throughout the season. After a relegation playoff, to now a promotion playoff, the club is on the right track to make the next step up. All credit goes to the entire playing staff.
19.01.2022 Woods Rising FC Collingwood; 7 (Barisa 3, Holmes, Nick, Diogo, Otto, Morgan) Prahran; 4... Third straight win as Collingwood claw their way back into the promotion fight as the squad begins to build some momentum after a slow start. The game started disastrously as the lads were well off the pace as Prahran took a 3-0 lead within 7 minutes. With loads of time remaining the woods kept their composure as Barisa struck to make it 1-0. Holmes stuck one in the top corner before an equaliser by Nick Viaggio levelled the score 3-3 going into half-time. Despite an early second half scare by Prahran who made it 4-3, Collingwood went on to score 4 more unanswered goals to storm home and take all three points. Prahran were dismantled in the last 15 minutes of the game as new Brazilian Otto continued to shine in the collingwood system. Man of the match: Barisa Bags a hat-trick smashing in three bombs from outside the area adding another left footed weapon to the squad. After a nice resurgence, a real test awaits next week as the woods take on First placed Footscray in what could be a statement game. #ontothenextone
19.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 1 (O.G) North Melbourne: 1 Collingwood wins on pens. ... This match review must begin by saying that the penalty kick lottery that results after a drawn scoreline is in the all time list of awful futsal rule changes. If there ever was a game where two teams deserved a point each, this was a shining example. Why do draws exist? Because they reflect that neither team could beat the other. Stalemate. Penalties turn the result into 3 minute circus show and cheapens the reality of the league table. This isnt 20/20 cricket. #bringbackthedraw That said, is collingwood nation not ecstatic the 3 points went our way? Of course we are. North Melbourne were in second place before kick off with a chance to go equal first as Footscray dropped points. If this was 2nd vs 7th it barely showed as Collingwood dominated the early parts of the game and carved out a number of openings. The luck went our way as a Dima cross was deflected in to give us a 1-0 lead. Shortly after a controversial penalty decision allowed North to equalise and it stayed at 1-1 until half time. The second half turned into a proper grind, as both teams had phases of dominance as defending became the focus for both teams. With a minute remaining the Futsal gods smiled on Collingwood as North blew an open goal from barely half a metre out to miss the chance to take all three points. The game ended at 1-1 as penalties took centre stage. Cam Holmes cooly dispatched his pen before a Diogo miss and two more calmly taken pens from Dima and Mark set up our GK Duy San to be the hero of the day, as he made 2 consecutive saves to give the woods all three points. Man of the match: Mark Morgan. In a game where defending was paramount, this guy put on a clinic of 1v1 defending as he locked down anything that came his way. Rumours are that Jordan C is still trying to figure out a way around him. Big win for the woods, who are slowly crawling their way back into the mid table positions. With every team taking points off each other every week, the league is still completly wide open with 13 rounds left. Collingwood will look for three wins in a row as they take on Prahran next week. #ontothenextone #woodsrising
18.01.2022 GAMEDAY for the All Blacks, who resume an old rivalry and take on the Goliath that is 10 time champs Pascoe Vale Futsal Club. To say were underdogs would be an understatement. Like great underdogs of the past - Greece (2004), Leicester City (2016), Pusha T (2018), and John Snow (battle of the bastards, Season 6, Episode 9), we will look to overcome insurmountable odds and take down the kings of Victorian Club Futsal. Kick off at 8:45pm. Game will stream live on the YouTube channel.
18.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 2 (Diogo, Lucas) North Melbourne: 0 The woods start the new campaign the best way possible with a rock solid 2-0 win over fellow league one championship favourites North Melbourne.... After the dark days of last seasons State League relegation, some off-season soul searching has seen some re-structuring of the squad, sponsors, and coaching staff. The only goal is direct promotion back into the State League Championship as soon as possible. First up the woods came up against newly promoted North Melbourne who have title aspirations of their own. After a cagey opening ten minutes, a sharp one-two between Dima Nichiforenco and Samba star Diogo Oliveira ended in the Brazilian side footing the opener. It stayed at 1-0 going into half-time. The second half followed the pattern of the first, as both teams defended relatively strongly and had their respective keepers to thank for the scoreline not blowing out. It wasnt until late in the second half that Brazilian Debutant Lucas Cassin pounced to open his Collingwood account and wrap up a deserved three points for the woods. Man of the Match: Duy San. The prodigal son returned back home to the Collingwood fam and marked his return with a flawless display in goal. After being snatched up by Carlton and previously Pascoe Vale the big boys just dont seem to value what they have in this guy. A 5 star performance from the Collingwood legend and the clean sheet. Special shout out to big performances from Mark Morgan and Diogo Oliveira who were both fantastic. On to the next one.
16.01.2022 GAMEDAY for the Woods. Winner to take on SFV powerhouse Pascoe Vale Futsal Club in the next round. #clubscup
16.01.2022 The resurgence continues as the woods take down the league leaders. FC Collingwood: 4 (Diogo, Otto, Dima Van Nistelrooy Nichiforenco, Nick Viaggio) Footscray: 3... Dont look now but the woods are officially streaking, winning its 4th straight game to jump directly into the promotion fight with 11 games remaining. Footscray, the current leaders of the competition, where always going to be tough as they scored the opening goal from a set piece to take a 1-0 lead into the half. They again scored through another set piece to open the second half and make it 2-0, as the woods faced an uphill battle to get back into the match. Thankfully the woods have the character for fighting back as Diogo Oliveria got one back immediately to get it back to 2-1. With momentum starting to turn Collingwoods way, the skipper Cam Holmes turned back the clock roasting his defender before calmly dispatching the finish into the far corner to equalise. As the ball had beaten the keeper and was on its way into the net, Nichiforenco, like a thief in the night, touched the ball in to get the goal. Check this link for a full re-inaction >> https://youtu.be/ExL-u9zJLsk. All celebrations were put on hold as Footscray scored from a third set piece to again take the lead. It took our other Brazilian Otto Bestos to equalise for the Woods, as he danced his way past the keeper before drawing a stone cold pen. The Brazilian picked himself up and made no mistake. 3-3. With 5 minutes remaining, and Footscray legs clearly tiring, Nick Viaggio took centre stage to smash home a winner and give Collingwood a massive win against the league leaders. Man of the match: Nick Viaggio. Another big time performance by the American who was superb today and fully deserved scoring a clutch winner to give us all three points. At 64 this guy has the best first touch in the league and constantly drew 2 defenders to open up space for everyone else. Honourable mentions to both our Brazilians Diogo + Otto, who had superb games. After an awful start to the league one campaign Collingwood nation can breath a sigh of relief as the squad are starting to gel as we get closer to the business end of the season. A fourth straight win against the league leaders has put the league on notice, as the all-whites start to live up to the pre season hype as one of the league favourites. It doesnt get any easier this week as the guys go into battle with new league leaders Kensington in what should be another crucial game. #ontothenextone #streaking
16.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 3 (Holmes 3) Kingston Royals: 2 Holmes comes through in the Clutch.... Late Drama as a last second winner from skipper Cam Holmes locks up a big 3 points for Collingwood nation. After a tough loss to champions elect Moreland FC last week, the woods faced undefeated Kingston Royals. After winning all three games last season against Kingston, the All Blacks went into the game confident despite Kingstons start to the season. The first half went as planned as Collingwood carved out the most chances and defended comfortably, as Kingston literally scored from their only chance in the first half. Cam Holmes equalised smashing the ball into the roof of the net to take the score to 1-1 at half time. The second half continued like the first as the woods looked to turn the screw. The pressure told as Holmes grabbed his second with a toe poke to make it 2-1. At this point the woods retreated to lock up the game at 2-1. With literally 40 seconds remaining some sloppy defending left a Kingston player unmarked to tap home at the back post. 2-2. To say we were gutted would be an understatement. With literally 10 seconds on the clock Trey sprayed a pass to Holmes who quickly cut in on his left before unleashing a shot that took a massive deflection before nestling in the top corner. The game isnt over till its over. Huge character shown by the team and a crucial win against a promotion chasing team. Altona to come next week. #ontothenextone
16.01.2022 Tough day at the office for Collingwood who open the season with a disappointing 4-0 loss to an impressive Melbourne Athletic. After earning a playoff spot last season the woods felt confident going in against the newly promoted Athletic. This confidence was short lived as Athletic showed they are more then ready to play at this level with a spirited performance. Collingwood failed to get out of first gear and several costly individual errors (by key players) handed Athletic a healthy first round win. The all blacks will regroup before taking on other new boys Glen Waverley FC this Sunday.
16.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 5 (Holmes 2, Cuneyt 2, Daly) Melbourne Athletic: 7 The woods get handed the L as Athletic drag themselves back into the race for the promotion places. ... After having a squad of 8 players confirmed on the morning of the game, a bunch of late pull outs left the woods facing the embarrassment of starting the game with only 4 players. A random was found from the thomastown social leagues, as he slid straight into the staring lineup. Despite a gallant effort from the woods, Athletic predictably dominated the game and raced to an early 2-0 lead. Holmes grabbed one back before 2 more Athletic goals lead to a 4-1 scoreline. Holmes grabbed another one with an impressive solo run, to send the woods into halftime at 4-2. The lack of legs started to show as Athletic smashed in 2 more goals to all but finish the game off. A spirited late rally from the woods got the game back to 6-5 with 2 mins remaining, before Athletic grabbed back the 2 goal cushion. After the recent high level of defending, the woods were lack lustre today and conceded as many goals as we have in the last 7 games. Sloppy would be an understatement. The race for the playoff positions is firmly alive with 4 points separating 2nd to 4th place. Glen Waverley up next for the woods.
15.01.2022 The woods lost their first 5 games of the season. Since then >>
15.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 7 (Holmes 3, Meibusch 2, Chapman, Daly) Melbourne FC: 0 The woods send a clear message in the race for the State League Championship playoffs, taking apart Melbourne with ruthless efficiency in a 7-0 rout. ... Pre game, this was a massive 3 points for outright third in the league table, as both teams sat on 18 points. After a cagey first half, the All Blacks took a solid 1-0 lead into halftime after Al Meibusch recovered from a butcher job foul on his knee, to climb off the bench and be the difference between the teams at the half. The floodgates opened in the second half as space started to open up all over the pitch. Daly, Meibusch and Holmes quickly added 3 more goals and the game was dead as a contest. As like previous gameweeks, defence again won the game for Collingwood as the boys grinded out a clean sheet to add the cherry on the performance. Man of the match: Cam Holmes. The skipper puts in a tidy shift having a hand in the games final 4 goals bagging a hat-trick and an assist to drive the woods to the three points. Ashburton next for the Woods. #RWTW #ministreak
15.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 6 (E.Daly 2, T.Sadler 2, C.Holmes, J.Chapman) Kingston Royals: 1 Points in the .... The woods keep up the 7 weekly tradition of owning Kingston as the All Blacks beat the Royals for the 5th consecutive time since they entered the State League Championship. With a thread-bear thin squad again like last week, the guys defended at the high level the teams come to expect, as Kingston were mostly forced to take shots from distance. A superb start saw the boys jump to a 5-1 halftime lead. As for the second half, the legs predictably began to tire as the woods preserved the five goal buffer to end the game at 6-1. Man of the match: Edgar Daly makes it back to back MOM awards with another clutch performance in front of goal. #careerbestcollingwoodform. Honourable mention to Trey Sadler who came back into the side with his usual swag. After last weeks encouraging performance against Galacticos Moreland, the woods head into the second half of the season in a confident mood as a playoff position is now the goal. #ontothenextone
13.01.2022 Collingwood: 4 (Chapman, Hinder, Daly, O.G) Preston: 3 The all blacks make it a perfect start - taking down Preston 4-3 in a tense second round encounter. ... After destroying SFVs Metropolitan 5-1 last week, Preston came into this game with promotion goals, and like the woods, werent going to surrender 3 points easily. Collingwood got off to the perfect start, as Chapman continued his goal form to open the scoring. Preston hit back through a set piece before new boy Nigel Hinder superbly turned his marker to slot the ball home. 2-1. With the momentum behind us, Alex Meibusch layed down a inch perfect pass to Edgar Daly who made no mistake to tap home and give the woods a 3-1 halftime lead. Preston were never going to go quietly, as they hit back with another set piece to make it 3-2. With the game winding down, a mazy full court run ended in a Preston equaliser. 3-3. In a bizarre incident, the futsal gods choose to take mercy on Collingwoods soul tonight, as a crazy back pass own goal ended up handing the all blacks a crucial 4-3 win. Preston will take a lot of points off a lot of teams this season and were happy to of gotten them out of the way. Man of the Match: Joey Chapman. Close call here - with Bigal laying off 2 magic assists. Chapman shades it though, with another monster performance as pivot. The guy is now adding goals and appears to be everywhere on the court. Let the kante comparisons begin. Maximum points for Collingwood nation to start the season. Another big test awaits next week in Metropolitan.
13.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 7 (Trey 3, Holmes 2, Joey, Peter S) Kingston Royals: 3 ... And the seasons a wrap. #Collingwoodnation seal a Series Futsal playoff position taking down Kingston Royals 7-3 in a dominant performance to secure the clubs first playoff since new management took over 9 months ago. It was win or bust for the woods, as any slip up would potentially hand Ashburton 3rd position in the table. This was the all blacks Grand Final for the season, and the intensity levels were different from the off, as Collingwood jumped out to a 5-0 lead going into halftime. Braces for Cameron Holmes and Trey Sadler iced an almost flawless first half performance as the three points were pretty much wrapped up. Further goals to Chapman and Trey (hat-trick) in the second period capped an impressive performance. Shout outs to everyone involved in the Collingwood family for the performances this season. After a relegation playoff last season, and 5 straight losses to start this one, the woods have amassed 38 points from the remaining 16 rounds (league best) to storm into a third place finish. The woods now have a crack at the big time. Series Futsal regulars Brunswick Chiefs stand in the way of a SFV dream and will be heavy favourites going into the first leg on Friday. Well be ready. #collingwoodstrong #playoffbound #startedfromthebottom #davidgoliath
11.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 8 (E.Daly 2, A.Meibusch 2, T.Sadler 2, D.Oliveira, N.Hinder) Vic Freindship: 6 3 points secured for Collingwood nation as the guys overcome 2 red cards to hold on for the Win.... After a tough loss to Regent last week, a win was crucial to keep up the promotion push. In our way stood Vic Friendship, who were fresh off knocking us out of the clubs cup 10 days prior. This loss was fresh in the Collingwood teams mind, as Friendship celebrated their clubs cup win like they'd just won the world cup final. Motivation to hand them the L was high. The all blacks started in perfect fashion as Alex Meibusch opened the scoring to give us an early 1-0 lead. Shortly after, the first of two red cards for the woods occurred as star goalkeeper Duy San picked up his second yellow card in a minute to be sent off. In stepped ace defender Joey Chapman in goals as the guys prepared for the oncoming onslaught. Despite grabbing one goal back against 3 players, the onslaught never came, as the woods were barely phased without a recognized keeper and reeled off 3 more goals to take a dominant 4-1 lead into halftime. Meibusch grabbed his second early in the second half and the game was looking over. As the woods looked to push on and score more goals, the futsal gods decided they weren't letting us have the 3 points that easy. Stand in keeper Joey Chapman picked up his second yellow and was also sent off. Getting 1 keeper sent off is rare. To get 2 is unheard of. Nigel Hinder grabbed the keeper's jersey as the woods began to become nervous. All credit to friendship, who capitalized instantly before scoring 3 more goals to level the game. Edgar Daly gave us some breathing space as the woods hung on for a tense 8-6 Win. Man of the Match. Edgar Daly. Clutch performance from Daly who came up huge in the big moments of this game to lead the woods to the three points. Despite grabbing 2 goals, the 3 assists he put on a platter for teammates will go unnoticed by most. We see you ED. The woods continue the state league dominance over Friendship, adding to the 13-0 Win earlier this season. As Brunswick continue to rack up wins, the woods remain 6 points behind top spot. Another tough game against Balwyn this week. #ontothenextone
11.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 11 (Dima 3, Diogo Oliveira 3, Otto Mendoza 3, JP, Mark Morgan) Collingwood bring the smoke in a 11 goal beat down of Box Hill. A 5 star attacking performance from Collingwood is too much for Box Hill as the woods slap 11 goals past them to get a much needed and confidence lifting 3 points. No team in League One has scored more then 10 this season against any opposition - we hope this is something we can build on. ... The signs have been their that a high scoring blow out like this was coming as the woods have continued to rack up chances at a high number despite the bad start to the season. For one reason or another, the woods have been missing them all season. Today they flew in as the team played efficiently and unselfishly as a number of back post tap-ins were scored as the woods over whelmed Box Hill when going forward. Hat-tricks to Dima Nichiforenco, Diogo, and new addition Otto were the highlights as the entire team contributed. Man of the Match: Dima Nichiforenco. Dima was at his vintage goal scoring best, smashing in a fantastically well taken 3 goals with all of them being out of the top draw. The highlight being the crucial opening goal of the game as he smashed it into the top corner to start the rout. Special shout out to our new new Brazilian addition Otto Mendoza who kept the Brazilian flavour cooking in Collingwood nation as he sparkled on his debut for the club. The Box Hill defenders had no answer for him as he dribbled past whoever he wanted creating and scoring goals in a dominant performance that will put the league on notice. Remember the name. Shout outs to Bush and Nick V who were also huge today in underrated roles. Big confidence boosting win for the woods who needed something to kick start the season (and the social media accounts ). One good win doesnt make a season and we go again next week against North Melbourne. #ontothenextone
11.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 3 ( N.Hinder 2, A.Meibusch) Preston: 1 The woods march through to the last 16 of the cup. ... The All Blacks cruise to a comfortable 3-1 win on the back of a 5 star defensive performance. 3 first half goals gave the woods a nice buffer as the guys held tough in the second half to progress through. Man of the Match: Joey Chapman puts on a defensive masterclass to take the MOM award. He had the Preston strikers in his pocket and theyll remain their until further notice. Special shout out to Nigel Hinder who bagged a debut Collingwood brace. Its officially David vs Goliath in the next round as the Woods take on 10 time Series Futsal Victoria champions Pascoe Vale. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. #clubscup
09.01.2022 Collingwood: 3 (P.Robotis 3) Ashburton: 1 The Ws keep coming as the woods lock up the 3 points with a famous win under the circumstances. ... With zero subs, DVR and Phil Robotis were handed their first ever starts (and full games without rest), as the woods came with the any means necessary attitude to get the W today. The defence continues to get us points, and it stood up again today as all 4 outfield players put in an amazing collective performance. Weve now conceded 3 goals total in the last 4 games. Shout out to Collingwood keeper Jean, whos proving to be one of the best keepers in the league with his recent form. #venezuelanrock Man of the match: Phil Robotis. The Ronaldo hat-trick for Portugal was cute - this was better. After dragging himself out of social league obscurity, Phil showed he isnt finished yet at this level as he put in a dominant performance to bag a ridiculous hat-trick. One header into the top corner, one first time volley, and a deft finish one v one with the keeper, the man deserves all the headlines. Big W for Collingwood nation. The All Blacks stay in third place with seven rounds to play. #ontothenextone
08.01.2022 GAMEDAY. Its a Sunday blockbuster as the woods take on league leading Brunswick with first place on the ladder at stake. Lock in Collingwood nation #warready
06.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 4 (Alex Meibusch 3, Joey Chapman) Melbourne FC: 3 Big time win for Collingwood nation, who come from behind 3 times to take all 3 points. ... A new season, and a new level of hope for the All Blacks, who opened the season against the only other side still in the division from the last one- FC Melbourne. The recent history between the clubs has seen the Woods completely owning Melbourne, taking the last 5 games in a row against the sky blues. Today was no exception, as a late winner from golden boy Al Meibusch wrapped up a precious 3 points. After a lengthy injury layoff (almost all of last season), the woods welcomed back the much loved Jack Hamilton into the fold. To say were happy to have this guy back would be an understatement. After a mid table finish the woods were anxious to get the first game out of the way, and it started in poor fashion as some static defending led to a melbourne opening goal. The guys hung around before Alex opened his account for the season with a tidy finish, to take us into halftime at 1-1. The big story of this game will be the Melbourne keeper, who appeared almost unbeatable for a majority of the 36 minutes, as he made save after save to keep the game close. Melbourne capitalised on his ridiculous form, scoring again, before Alex cancelled it out with a precise free kick. 2-2. Again some static defending led to another Melbourne goal and the woods were looking down the barrel of defeat with 5 mins remaining. Despite being the only player not to sub the entire game, Joey Chapman came through in the clutch making a lung busting overlap to the back post to grab a late equaliser. With momentum with us, big Al grabbed his hat-trick and the winner giving the woods a 4-3 lead win 2 minutes on the clock. Man of the match: Alex Meibusch. Two equalisers and the winner should tell you all you need to know. Big performance from Bigal in a massive upcoming season for the ACT product. One win means very little, and its a #ontothenextone attitude from the Woods wholl take on an impressive Preston next week.
04.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 5 (Daly 2, Meibusch, Chapman, O.G) Moreland FC: 8 After temporarily rising into third position in the table, the all blacks get brought back down to earth with a tough 8-5 loss to champions elect Moreland FC. ... With a mini squad crisis going on, the guys came into battle against Moreland with one sub. What happened next was almost the stuff of legend, as the lads battled and temporarily took the lead in the first half before going in 4-4 at the break. As the second half progressed, the lack of legs started to show as Moreland proved why they are still unbeaten, as they ruthlessly punished some sloppy mistakes. At 6-4 with 3 minutes remaining, Joey Chapman got one back for the Woods to make it 6-5. But it wasnt to be, as Moreland wrapped up the points with 2 well taken goals to kill the game. Man of the match: Edgar Daly. This guy has been quietly going about his business all season, and put in another big performance on both sides of the ball. As always, its #ontothenextone. Kingston Royals next week.
04.01.2022 Collingwood: 5 (Daly 2, Meibusch, Chapman, Olivera) Metropolitan: 0 The woods keep up the form making it 5 wins a row with an impressive 5-0 W over metropolitan. ... After a cagey first half new Brazilian signing Diego Olivera opened the scoring with a tap in after a slick passing move. 1-0 at halftime. The second half couldnt of started better as daly picked up the first of his brace, before meibusch capped an outstanding all round performance with a goal. Chapman scored with a blasted shot into the top corner to kill the game at 4-0. Man of the match: Joey Chapman. This guy puts in another defensive performance for the ages completely neutralising any metro attacking threat and leading the team to its third clean sheet in the last five games. The woods have the best defence in the league, the chapgod is the main reason why. All roads lead to next weeks top of the table blockbuster against league leading Brunswick. Massive team win for Collingwood nation #fiveinarow #ontothenextone

03.01.2022 Collingwood: 9 (Hamilton 4, Alex 2, Edgar, Holmes, Peter) Glen Waverley: 0 Hamilton goes H.A.M.... The All Blacks put last weeks debacle behind them putting Glen Waverley to the sword with a 9-0 rout. After a dissapointing first round defeat to Athletic, three points were crucial even at this early stage, and after Glen Waverleys narrow 3-2 loss to title favourites Moreland, nothing could be taken for granted. After a dominant first half, a 2-0 lead flattered GW and the woods showed little mercy in the second period putting 7 more past the Waverley keeper. Jack Hamilton will need to be cooled down as he entered into the heat zone smashing in four goals in a dominant finishing display. Man of the match: Alex Meibusch. After missing round 1 with a suspension, Al returned and showed everyone what we were missing with a trademark performance to start his season. He had a hand in at least 4 goals, took 2 himself, as well as being one of the best lock down defenders in the team. State League MVP hype shall begin now. Big bounce back win for the woods. Moreland to come next week.
02.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 2 (Holmes, Barisa) Vermont: 4 The 6 game winning streak comes to an end as the woods fall a game short of the perfect 7. ... With both teams on 21 points this would have a crucial impact on the final playoff picture. Vermont struck first and took a 3-0 lead into halftime. The woods struggled to deal with the compact counter attacking nature of Vermont’s playing style and they deserved the 3-0 half time lead. Holmes inspired some hope with a tidy one-two with Nick to make it 3-1 early in the second half before Vermont struck a crucial blow netting the fourth. The woods looked tidy and dominated throughout the second half, but it wasn’t enough as Vermont showed why they are one of the best defensive teams in this league and took all three points. Man of the match: Nick Viago. The big guy was the one sole shining light for the woods in a game where the rest of the team were below an acceptable standard. Nick caused multiple problems with his link up play and continues to be a problem for any opposition defence. Tough loss for Collingwood nation. With 7 games remaining, the business end of the season has arrived. We go again next week. #ontothenext

01.01.2022 FC Collingwood: 3 (Chapman 2, Holmes) Altona Knights FC: 7 Disappointing loss for the All blacks who pay dearly for a bad 5 minute spell in a relatively even game.... Pre match, Collingwood were dealt some squad problems as 5 first team regulars were ruled out. The newly formed Altona Knights came into the match undefeated as it looked to be a pivotal game for both clubs at this early stage of the season. Collingwood took the early lead as Chapman hit a deflected shot into the top corner. The game went back and fourth in the first half, with Altona being the slightly better side and took a slender 2-1 lead into halftime. They continued the damage in the second half taking an early 3-1 lead, before Holmes scored from distance, and then assisted a tap in for Chapman at the back post and the game was locked at 3-3. At this point the momentum was all with Collingwood, and the guys created a number of chances to take the lead. We were made to pay for our spurned opportunities, as Altona showed no mercy with their chances and put the game away in a ruthless 5 minute scoring stretch. All credit to Altona for a deserved win. The squad will regroup before another big game against Melbourne City this week.
