25.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE 2020 SEASON After much deliberation and consideration into the viability of the 2020 season, the FC Leopold committee has made the very tough decision to withdraw all teams (senior men and women, juniors and miniroos) from the 2020 season. With the recent re-tightening of COVID 19 restrictions by the Victorian Government and lack of clarity from Football Victoria regarding how the season will look and what would happen should the season need to co...me to a halt, we felt this is the best decision to make. We have always put safety above anything else and this is an occasion we need to show that our club philosophy is more than just words. We also do not feel that we can morally ask for registration funds for the season with so many unknowns. We acknowledge that sport as a whole is very important to the overall well-being and mental health of our members and their families. As much as we would love to return to normality, the landscape in this this global pandemic is constantly changing and it would be remiss of the club not to put the well-being of our members and our community front and centre. Once we are in a position to reopen the club in accordance with government and local council guidelines, we will be intending to offer a range of services to our members (training, friendly games etc) to ensure the FC Leopold community can reengage with our great football club and the game we love, along with seeing us through to the start of the 2021 season. Wed like to thank our volunteers and coaches who have put in a considerable amount of time, effort and behind the scenes work during what has been a difficult few months. We can assure our members that whilst we wont be taking the field in the 2020 competition, that we will still be working hard behind the scenes to ensure that 2021 will be our best year yet. We have been working closely with the City of Greater Geelong to ensure that the facilities at Estuary Reserve meet our growing needs. We will hopefully be able to provide an update regarding this in the near future. We know this decision will be disappointing, but we truly hope you all understand. We will be back in 2021, stronger than ever and we hope that all of our current members will be there with us when we return. Further information about refunds will be posted as it becomes available (we are still waiting on further information from Football Victoria).

25.01.2022 BIG THANK YOU Thank you Hyundai Goals For Grassroots for making us a recipient club We received $2000 from them for our club which is a massive boost for this season as we havent been able to do any club based fundraising. ... 20.01.2022 MENS HEALTH WEEK 15-21 June Mens health week is about communities across Australia coming together and creating engaging events, promotions and activities tailored to the needs of men and boys. But its also about bringing to the forefront issues surrounding support and stigma. ... Mens Health Week is your opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of males in our community. MALE-FRIENDLY SERVICES Improving health outcomes for men is a two-way process involving men, women and families, and health services combined. It is important that men make use of health services to preventatively manage their health and find out before its too late if problems exist. Here are some ways of being pro-active with mens health. Be active in getting medical help if you dont feel well, have a problem that wont go away or notice unusual symptoms. Its OK to seek help - dont try to do everything on your own or bury problems. Talk to your wife, partner, friends, team mates and workmates. Push hard to get the help you need to manage your life, work, family and financial needs. Ladies, be proactive in helping your men and boys get the help they and you need. Use available hotlines, speak with professionals to get the best course of action and be persistent. Dont leave it too late to seek help. You and your health are too important. At the moment especially more then ever we need to support those around us and look out for each other.

20.01.2022 USEFUL INFORMATION Please keep safe!

20.01.2022 FLASHBACK FUN One year today since our junior girls team and womens team took to the field in pink socks (with miniroos the next day) to celebrate PINK SOCK DAY! Such a great weekend of pink sock fun, and raising awareness and money for Breast Cancer Research. This Change our Game Grant allowed us to celebrate our female teams and really show the community our club ethos of inclusiveness and gender equality. ... Looking forward..... This year has been very unprecedented and will have a huge impact on all community sports clubs. One casualty of this year will be the potential impact on our female numbers for next year. Wed really started making headway with our amount of all female miniroos, juniors and women teams wed planned on fielding and we are hopeful we can continue that momentum regardless of how this year turned out. Retainment of female numbers, recruiting new members and increasing our number of female coaches will always be a priority for FC Leopold.

19.01.2022 MERRY CHRISTMAS Wishing our FC Leopold family and friends a merry and safe Christmas. Thank you for supporting us throughout this year and we are looking forward to bigger and brighter things in 2021.

18.01.2022 WOMENS TRAINING INFO Our women’s training kicks off this Wednesday! Please come along and meet the coach and the returning players and see what we have to offer. ... The women’s team this year will be coached by Karen Costelloe who has 14 seasons of football behind her, on field experience as well as specialised goalkeeper experience. As well as this Karen has worked closely with some of our junior girls in the past, mentoring them in goalkeeper skills and has been an integral part of the women’s team for the last few seasons. FC Leopold is keen to develop the squad and invites new players including beginners to join in, improve their fitness, skills and enjoy the fun and challenges of playing football in a friendly environment. Karen is a strong advocate of women in sport, acknowledging the many health benefits and relishes the opportunity to provide women of all ages with pathways to take part and enjoy. At FC Leopold we encourage inclusiveness and are very hopeful for a fantastic season. New players are welcome! No experience necessary. #football4all

18.01.2022 EXCITING NEWS Although we have withdrawn from the 2020 season, the committee has been hard at work behind the scenes with eyes firmly fixed on 2021 and beyond. The lights are progressing through the planning stages and things are slowly ticking away, obviously like many works there has been a delay, but they will be completed by April, just in time for when daylight savings ends.... Now the exciting news. The pavilion has been passed in the CoGG 20/21 budget and CoGG have committed 150k for the planning. We are looking to have 4 full change rooms with toilets and showers, referee rooms, canteen / kitchen and a social room. There will also be a significant amount of storage, as this will be a multi use facility (footy and cricket will use as a secondary site). The work for the pavilion will be erected in stages (Modular system). Stage One will consist of 2 change rooms with amenities, 2 referees change rooms with its own separate amenities, an equipment storeroom and First Aid room. Stage Two with be a duplication of change rooms and amenities, bringing it to a total of 4. It will also have a Store/Massage room. Stage Three will be the be the Social Rooms, Kitchen, Store room and rest rooms. We will continue to work with CoGG and the State government for the rest of the funds and hopefully we have a fully built pavilion in a few years. We are excited to bring this news to our members and we look forward to the progression of the club both on and off the field. ( Layout of Pavilion and Lights )

17.01.2022 INTERNATIONAL LEFT HANDERS DAY There are lots of fun facts around about left handers.. apparently they are creative, intelligent, more prone to insomnia, being bad tempered and clumsy lol. But they are also great at sports and good at acting (not implying any reference to football with that correlation lol). Some famous left handers include Hugh Jackman, Morgan Freeman, Barack Obama, Tom Cruise, Bart Simpson, Bill Gates, Leonardo Da Vinci and Marie Curie. ... Tag someone you know who is a leftie or comment a GIF about being left handed.

17.01.2022 COVID REMINDER While we are looking forward to a brand new season, we all know this is not going to be quite a normal season just yet. Some things will be around for the whole year.. including covid strategies that will need to be in place to keep us all safe. Because we want to make these a part of our club culture we will be outlining some of the strategies we’d like all members to make into their new ‘covid normal’. ... This is the first of many. But they are all for our benefit so we thank you in advance for all covid safe practices and efforts.

16.01.2022 HAPPY FATHERS DAY Wishing all of the Dads out there a big happy Fathers Day! Thank you for all you do and all you are. On and off the field, in the community and in general! Have a wonderful day and please stay safe.

16.01.2022 THANK YOU A big shout to Andy Sattler our club registrar who is working tirelessly behind the scenes at the moment to process our side of things with refunds so that Football Victoria can then do their part. Andy has been an integral part of club registrations for the last few years and is always one of the first to put his hand up to help as demonstrated by his recent volunteer trip to fire damaged areas to work with East Gippsland United after their club was hugely i...mpacted by the bushfires. Thank you Andy for all you are doing to help the club through this next step. It is truly appreciated. Please remember to check for your email and follow refund steps weve provided as FV part of the process can take up to 6 weeks.

We are seeking expressions of interest from anyone wanting to join our coaching team. Positions are not guaranteed and are appointed according to numbers, team needs and our coaching policy. As we want to be diligent in planning for our season it’s important we get coaches locked in soon. 13.01.2022 CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT FC Leopold is pleased to announce their Men's Senior Coaching line-up for season 2021. Carlos del Rio will take over the reins of the seniors with Liam Tench as his Assistant. The Reserves Coaching role will be taken up by Jon Gunby. Carlos comes to us via Warrnambool Wolves connection. His early involvement playing in junior football was with Frankston Pines, with a stint also at Melbourne Uni. He has a coaching experience that spans 18 years, a mixtu...re of Youth and senior football at Warrnambool; this also included the regional Representative sides. Work has seen Carlos head this way so why not get better acquainted by getting involved and taking FC Leopold through its next growing phase. Carlos will be ably assisted by club stalwart, Liam Tench. Liam's early junior days saw him play extensively at Barwon with a season at Deakin Uni thrown in for good measure. Liam, or "Tenchy" as he is known around the club, has been at FC Leopold from the beginning and has slowly moved though the playing ranks, taken over the Development Squad in season 2019, was then promoted and appointed as Reserve Coach in 2020 before the season was halted due to Covid. While not drawing his playing days to a close just yet, he is excited to be able to tap into Carlos' experience as Tenchy hopes to put that to good use in years to come. Jon Gunby is not only the Reserve Coach for season 2021, but he is also welcomed into the fold as he transfers over from local club, and also a competitive rival of FCL, in Bell Park. Having moved here from the UK over 10 years ago, Jon is very well versed in what local football offers. His playing days in the UK were a mixture of College and University football. Since arriving here he had been playing at Bell Park and also coaching juniors with Geelong Rangers. This will be Jon's first foray into coaching senior football but will have plenty of good support once the season begins. Welcome all and the best of luck for season 2021. 09.01.2022 EXCITING NEWS

08.01.2022 FEMALE FRIENDLY FOCUS Attracting female numbers and retaining those numbers from year to year is a huge focal topic at the moment because community sports are becoming more aware that there is often an imbalance in gender representation. This is often reflected in numbers from juniors through to seniors, and across all facets of clubs from players, through to coaches and committee members. FC Leopold is committed to engaging in action plans, workshops and seminars that... increase our knowledge and understanding of this topic. We recently formed a working group made up of four female members with a passion for increasing our representation across our junior girls and women’s teams. This group is working closely with This Girl Can initiatives and programs to form an action plan for female friendly issues. As well as this we’ve applied for a Change Our Game Activation Grant that if successful will provide a workshop for interested members surrounding the topic of female friendly clubs. All of these things are great steps in the right direction as this is an ongoing commitment that we intend on focussing on in 2021 and beyond. Please watch this space for more information and initiatives!

To have that modelling and mentorship between the seniors and juniors is such an important element for making our club positive and inclusive. We thank all of our seniors that dedicate their time and energy to being positive role models to our juniors and miniroos.
