25.01.2022 NEW & FREE Family Day Care compliance resources Family Day Care educators brochures in 11 languages! ‘Consequences of non-compliance with the Family Assistance Law’ brochure ... This brochure provides information about the Australian Government Department of Education and Training and its child care payments compliance program. This program monitors compliance with the Family Assistance Law by Family Day Care services and educators. It states that penalties resulting from non-compliance can be severe. The aim of the compliance program is to provide the Australian public with assurance and confidence that the Australian Government’s investment in quality early childhood education and child care is being spent, equitably and for its intended purpose. The brochure lists several ways in which the Department of Education and Training monitors the activities of Family Day Care services, including via calls and emails from anyone who is aware of non-compliant or fraudulent activities to its tip-off line, being toll free number 1800 664231 or email [email protected]. It asserts that although FDC services are responsible for the accuracy of reports made by educators, educators may be held responsible for criminal offences too. The brochure also provides some case studies as examples of non-compliance and consequences. Additionally, the brochure provides information about the New Child Care Package commencing from July 2018 which will include a more robust Compliance Framework. This framework will have more powers and tools to identify and act on fraudulent and non-compliant behaviour including a new integrated child care information technology system. www.fdcsupport.org.au/for-educators This project is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training and is run by NSW Family Day Care Association.

06.01.2022 Family Day Care and the Law *NEW* free resources for Family Day Care services and new educators 'The Family Assistance Law: Your Obligations and Rights' brochure... This brochure (Brochure 3) explains that as a FDC educator you are required to be engaged by a FDC service. The service is the approved child care provider under both the National Law and Family Assistance Law. It is important that all FDC educators understand both these laws that govern FDC and the child care subsidies eligible families can receive from the Australian Government. Failure to comply with these laws has serious consequences for FDC educators and FDC services’ approval which could be suspended or cancelled. You may even be deemed unsuitable to provide child care or operate a child care service. It also describes the compulsory FDC educator qualifications needed and the essential National Quality Standards educators are required to operate within. 'Starting out right making sure you are acting lawfully' brochure This brochure (Brochure 6) explains how it helps FDC educators to act lawfully from the start by understanding the requirements of both the National Law and Family Assistance Law. Once understood, FDC educators can then concentrate on providing the best early childhood education and care to young people. It explains the role of each government department and lists some good places to learn about the legal obligations of becoming or being a FDC educator. It also provides helpful and important points to take on board. www.fdcsupport.org.au/for-educators This project is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training and is run by NSW Family Day Care Association.
