19.01.2022 YOUTH _ Coaching young athletes contrary to popular belief (along with pregnant women) is still extremely effective and beneficial, especially when pursued with care, precision and understanding. _ When I first met @cj.hornabrook the goal was simple - build strength and add lean mass. We started with some body weight basics and general physical preparedness techniques to develop some basic proprioception, coordination and motor skill patterns. ... _ We progressively made our way to more traditional strength based movements and load baring exercises in a pragmatic fashion whilst having a focus (as ever) on skill acquisition and execution. Quality! _ CJ is a competitive swimmer, which means his daily energy demands are large especially for performance and recovery as he’s in the water A LOT burning fuel. We worked on nutrition knowledge and literacy weekly starting out with the fundamentals and then fine tuning for swim meets and important comp dates to maximise performance, taking victories and smashing PB after PB! _ If your a young athlete and/or work with them it can be a tremendously rewarding journey for all involved, there just needs to be some qualitative background knowledge and a safe, sound and intelligent approach to facilitate long term success along with a positive experience. _ Keep an eye out for @cj.hornabrook at the next olympics #youngathletes _ Fearless Training - Start Evolving See more
