06.01.2022 Gippsland’s top chefs will serve up a sumptuous feast of regional produce matched with local beer and wine at the Food for Thought - Food Forum and Regional Pro...duce Dinner event in Lindenow, in the heart of Victoria’s food bowl. Hosted by the East Gippsland Food Cluster and East Gippsland Marketing Inc, Food for Thought is designed to build brand recognition for the high-quality produce grown in eastern Gippsland. The event, to be held on Wednesday April 11, kicks off at 5pm at Lindenow Hall. It features a panel discussion led by food writer and commentator, Richard Cornish, followed by a regionally inspired dinner at 6.45pm. Dishes will be prepared by leading local chefs including Mark Briggs, from SARDINE eatery + bar in Paynesville; Tanya Bertino and Anton Eisenmenger from Lindenow’s The Long Paddock; Matt O’Donnell from Albert & Co - Coffee Food Catering in Lakes Entrance; Rob Turner from Yellow Belly Deli, in Bairnsdale; and Damien Gannon from Tinamba Hotel. Since opening on The Esplanade, Paynesville in October, SARDINE eatery + bar has become a firm favourite with diners who value the focus on locally caught seafood a key drawcard for the award-winning chef. British-born Mr Briggs established his career at three Michelin star restaurants across the UK, before moving to Australia in 2004 to work with Shannon Bennett at Vue de Monde in Carlton, before being appointed head chef of Vue de Monde in Melbourne CBD. In 2013, he was named The Age Good Food Guide Young Chef of the Year; Vue de Monde won Restaurant of the Year. International experience and local produce also flavour the menu at The Long Paddock, the Lindenow café opened by Tanya Bertino and Anton Eisenmenger in 2016. Between them the couple has worked extensively at leading restaurants, including the two Michelin starred restaurant Jardin De Sens in Montpellier, The Ledbury in London and Cumulus and Vue de Monde in Melbourne. The Long Paddock is renowned for its delicious baked goods and pastries, and seasonal meals using vegetables from local growers. British-born chef Rob Turner also a passion for Gippsland the menu at Yellow Belly Deli in Bairnsdale is bursting with local produce, including meat from Forge Creek Lamb/The Lamb Shack, Forge Creek Free Range Eggs, sourdough bread from Rivendell East Gippsland in Tambo Upper, Skylor Park ham in Forge Creek, Meristem Herbs in Orbost, Picnic Point berries, and salads greens from Lindenow. Matt O’Donnell and John Marshall recently moved their tiny Kalimna café and catering business, Albert & Co - Coffee Food Catering, to a prime foreshore location in Lakes Entrance, where it continues to showcase regional produce, focusing on good food and great customer service. The Albert & Co menu includes Forge Creek Free Range eggs, Gippsland Jersey milk, Lakes Entrance seafood (Off The Wharf), local beef, pork, lamb and cheese; and vegetables plucked from the café’s kitchen garden, all washed down with regional beer, cider or wine. Tinamba Hotel has cemented its reputation as a destination hotel and fine-dining restaurant since Damien Gannon and Brad Neilson took over the property in 2009. The award-winning venue is renowned for its impeccable service and locally sourced produce much of it from the hotel garden. The pub employs a part-time gardener to keep the garden producing fruit, vegetables, herbs and edible flowers. Tickets to Food for Thought - Food Forum and Regional Produce Dinner are limited and cost $90 for supporters of the East Gippsland Food Cluster or East Gippsland Marketing Inc or $110 for a non-member.
