15.01.2022 If 60% of voters think building affordable housing is a top priority in the upcoming Budget , there are no excuses for the Government to not invest in housing Australians during this terrible crisis. #BuildSocialHousing #EverybodysHome

14.01.2022 Domestic abuse is about power and control. Intimidation is one way that abusers instill fear in their victims ensuring that they maintain the power and control... over them that they desire. My ex-husband rarely needed to hit me because he was able to control me without physical violence. He used financial abuse and sexual abuse to keep control over me. The mental and emotional abuse was constant of course and the intimidation as well. I have great reflexes from years of getting out of the way of flying dishes and other objects. He controlled where I went. He was always watching me, listening to me. The stalking started even before I left. I was terrified of him during our marriage. When people say "why didn't you just leave?" I don't think they understand what it feels like to actually be terrified of the man you're living with, and married to. That fear is enough to make you freeze afraid to do anything. If you don't know how that feels be grateful. #whywomendontleave #domesticabuse #complexptsd #domesticviolence #dv #violenceagainstwomen #narcissist #ptsd#survivor#intimidation#sociopath#gaslighting#manipulation#afraid#sleepingwiththeenemy#endviolenceagainsteomen#narchusband#divorce#toxicrelationship#abusiverelationship#powerandcontrol

07.01.2022 ALMOST HALF WILL HAVE TO SKIP MEALS On Friday, we released the results of our survey of over 600 people on JobSeeker, who shared their thoughts with us about th...e $300 a fortnight cut on September 25. Almost half (48%) said they would definitely need to skip meals, and reduce how much fresh food they purchase. Another 33% percent said they would probably have to buy less fresh fruit and vegetables. As one survey participant told us: Fresh produce is difficult for me to purchase regularly due to costs. I live with someone in a high-risk group for Covid, and have chronic illnesses myself, so we try to shop online but it is so difficult, most fresh fruit and veg is expensive. We live in the suburbs. Having the supplement has meant we can eat fresh fruit and vegetables every day. The Government needs to put in place a permanent, adequate JobSeeker rate, not a $300 a fortnight cut. Read the full report here: tinyurl.com/y2xmlyhh TAKE ACTION!! Contact your local Member of Parliament to tell them here how devastating this cut will be for people's health and finances: tinyurl.com/y3tr2d6w And tell the Prime Minister and Treasurer what you think of the JobSeeker cut. Call the Prime Minister's office on 02 6277 7700 and the Treasurer's office on 02 6277 7340. www.raisetherate.org.au
