20.01.2022 This is a great read which again explains why absconding isn’t the right choice and those encouraging workers to abscond are not good people.

15.01.2022 We would once again like to thank everyone for their kind words and support during this tragic event. There are currently several Go Fund Me pages circulating. We would like to advise that none of these Go Fund Me pages have been setup by Federal Backpackers. As we cannot guarantee that the money will be distributed to the backpackers we would ask that you DO NOT DONATE to these funds. We ask if anyone is wishing to donate to our backpackers please contact Australian Red Cross or Lifeline Bundaberg as they are helping our guys where they can.

15.01.2022 We shall remember them. Lest we forget https://www.anzaclive.com.au/

14.01.2022 Management, staff and backpackers would like to thank the Bundaberg community for all of there generosity and concern during this difficult time. We ask that everyone please respect all our backpackers and staff privacy as we are still all trying to process the events from Monday night. We ask for people not to come directly to their new accommodation facility as they are feeling overwhelmed with everything and need to do things in there own time. Thank you for understanding.

10.01.2022 In the August edition of Queensland Fire & Emergency Services (QFES) Response Magazine details the events which unfolded on the night of the fire. To the 40 fire fighters who fought to get the fire under control that night we can't thank you enough. Even though the building couldn't be saved your efforts didn't go unnoticed. You never gave up and we will be forever grateful

08.01.2022 What a horrific journey today has been. I’m sure you have all heard about the fire which tore through both Federal Backpackers and Spotted Dog Tavern. Luckily our fire evacuation training with staff paid off and we were able to evacuate the building with everyone alive and unhurt. We have found emergency housing for all of our guests and are helping them with their needs as everyone escaped with only the clothes on their backs. If you have loved ones who are staying with us a...nd can’t contact them please do not panic. They are safe. Most of the Backpackers didn’t have the chance to grab their phones. If you need them to contact you please send us a private message and we will forward it onto them. Some hostels around Bundaberg are telling our guests that they are housing people for us and they will keep their jobs. This is not true. We are still up and running from temporary housing until we can setup something more permanent. We would like to thank our farms for being so caring and understanding. We would also like to thank Queensland Fire Service, Queensland Police Service and Queensland Ambulance Service. Without your prompt response the blaze could have been so much worse. You made such a difficult time easier to deal with and it really was a mammoth effort. Bundaberg Regional Council for opening up the Civic Centre in the middle of the night to get our guys into a safe environment and out of the cold weather and your ongoing support today. Several Bundaberg charities, Tom our local Labour candidate and everyday Bundaberg people. There really are too many to mention. The owners of Hungry Tums as you both ran around looking after the emergency services throughout the night and today. And lastly the Backpackers. Without your cooperation and prompt evacuation things could have been a lot worse. I’m sure there are many more and I apologise if I have forgotten anyone. From management and staff we would like to say THANK YOU See more

05.01.2022 Since the fire we have had several of our competitors trying to claim they are working with us and wanting to assisting our backpackers. None of this has been true. Most of our competitors see us as a threat and are trying to stop us reopening. The latest to hit Facebook is this post which from 35 photo's includes 33 photo's from the last couple of years featuring Federal Backpackers establishment and our past guests. We did not supply these photo's but are aware of the pers...on who did. We also did not authorise these photo's to be used. We also commented advising the photo's were taken at Federal Backpackers and our comment has since been deleted from the original post. We are still supplying our farmers with workers where we can and also arranging accommodation for backpackers who contact us. To our farmers being contacted directly by these people we are sorry and are in the process of taking this further. You should only be contact by management. All other contact is not authorised by Federal Backpackers. To any backpackers wishing to work in Bundaberg our phone number 07 4153 3711 is still in operation and we can arrange accommodation. There is plenty of work in the region and we can still help you out with accommodation.

01.01.2022 Happy Easter to all. We hope you have a safe one.

01.01.2022 Last nights announcement sees no more than 2 people gathering in public at one time
