24.01.2022 A massive shout out to two local businesses and their staff for supporting our #savethewatchtower efforts! We can't express our gratitude enough but be sure we'll support both these great local businesses where possible! Firstly thanks to Maurie and the social club from Home Timber and Hardware for their contribution a couple weeks ago. Secondly Jamie Heidrich and the team from Heidrichs Landscaping & Outdoor Supplies for their support over the Xmas period. ... Want to help us? Well it's simple, click through and follow the prompts bit.ly/savethewatchtower

17.01.2022 We are looking for a "casual" barperson - no guaranteed hours, just an extra hand for upcoming functions leading into Xmas. Would be perfect for someone experienced looking for some extra $$ leading up to Xmas. Will only take recommendations from people I know - no point applying if you don't know us or what we are about :-) Thanks in advance...
17.01.2022 We’re open until 6pm tonight, then we’re closed for Mark & Kylie’s private NYE function. What an absolutely upside down and backwards year, but we can’t thank our valued patrons enough for their continued support of what we’re doing here at The Fed! Here’s to 2021
17.01.2022 As you can see the issues are more than what can just be fixed with a coat of paint! Severe neglect over decades has seen the Watchtower fall into dangerous despair and we're trying our hardest to save and give the girl another life! We've officially hit our 1/4 target, now we're aiming for halfway: bit.ly/savethewatchtower
16.01.2022 The Federal Hotel is open from 11am and closing at 10pm Good Friday and Easter Saturday. Sunday and Monday is business as usual although we may close early on Monday evening. Please be careful on the roads, and try not to run over egg laden bunnies;)!
16.01.2022 Dropped off some 2021 Calendars and Xmas postcards off at Mel’s Cafe and Hair By Vaness on Main Road opposite the boat ramp today. If you can’t get into the pub to buy a fundraising calendar, you can call into these businesses to get one. Thanks to Paige at Pirie Office National for printing these - they are great
16.01.2022 I think there’s a few business owners that feel like this
14.01.2022 The girls back on the tools today after we’ve asked the boys how to do it Frank D'Agostino Snr thanks
13.01.2022 Anyone in town would know the watch tower requires restoration... we've been saving for 5 years & still didn't get near the amount required to start the project. With our forced COVID closure, we spent what money we had saved on other renovations to keep the staff employed & make the most of our time whilst closed. So now, we need to start the fundraising again to get the watch tower restored for future generations. There will be a lot more information coming out shortly, but Matt has started the ball rolling...
13.01.2022 We will be open tomorrow from 11am... we will still be on restricted numbers but we have extra room in the function room and in the beer garden. The keg Xmas tree isn’t going too well so bring in some friends and hit the tap beer
11.01.2022 It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas - kids are excited ... sorry folks, there won’t be any Xmas lights on the watchtower or front this year Due to the delay caused by restrictions imposed on us, we were unable to complete the restoration work to the front facade. Xmas lights are not viable this year as they will be a hindrance to any ongoing renovations. Hopefully 2021 lights will be better than ever thanks Vicki, Matt & Dennis for your help
11.01.2022 Most of you know we're shut Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but do you know why? We're using these two days a week not to sit on the couch and watch the cricket, but to work on the hotel uninterrupted! Because of this we're going to use these two days on our socials to share some of the issues we're dealing with, what we're doing to correct it and then the final product. Today we've got large water damage on one of the 3rd floor walls + our makeshift floor on the 4th floor, which... was rotted out by water damage! If you want to contribute and help us bring this old girl back to her glory, please click through bit.ly/savethewatchtower
08.01.2022 Have you laid your eyes on this event next Saturday night!? It's our next #savethewatchtower event and we're super excited to welcome Port Pirie's TRAINWRECK! Everything you need to know Event: www.facebook.com/events/453152135728973
08.01.2022 The fire place might not be operating tonight, but the fridges and beer taps are Great atmosphere and even better venue, see you tonight for those end of the week knock offs!
07.01.2022 The Watchtower has been leaking through the roof, causing dry rot in the flagpole and internal structure. This has been happening for YEARS - way before we bought the pub. The water runs through all 6 floors and we need to stop this - the damage is so detrimental. Unfortunately works on a 122 year old, 5 storey high watchtower are not easy or cheap. The estimated cost to save the Watchtower is $250,000-$300,000 but will result in the watchtower being accessible for daily gui...ded tours, a viewing platform in the ceiling space and other upgrades to access spaces. Simply put, the public will be able to go through the entire building - a unique tourist attraction for the town, the Southern Flinders Ranges & South Australia. The project team currently consists of Stephen Richter for SJ Cheesmans, Peter Campbell from Midstate Hardware and Sam Gadaleta from Gadaleta Steel Fabricators. WE NOW NEED MONEY & HELP TO MAKE THIS PROJECT A REALITY. Our 1st target is $40,000 - to waterproof the roof and start the internal repairs. We need assistance with: - Finding and applying for grants - Fundraising - Marketing & Social Media - Spreading the word If you believe you can help in any way please email [email protected] or call the Hotel & ask for Kylie 08 8632 2929 or make an appointment to see me. Thanks in advance...
07.01.2022 The keg Xmas tree is underway... but we need some help to get it up ready for the lights. We had 56 kegs last year - in true Feddy style we will be going bigger & better - SJ Cheesman have assisted with the star for the top #headtothefed
