22.01.2022 Day 15 (Baucau to Dili): Our last full day we spent driving back to Dili with some geological stops hosted by the UNTL students, making the most of the insanely bumpy and dusty roads, but then got to feel pure enjoyment when we hit asphalt near Dili. We went to a tais market to spend the remainder of our US dollars, then said goodbye to our amazing Timorese drivers, guides and UNTL students. Timor has been an excellent adventure!

21.01.2022 Day 10 (Baucau to Com): We spent the morning heading down the coast and looking at lithology changes, including turtle rock, then looked at some spectacular framestones (Corals). We spent the rest of the (extremely hot) day making stratigraphic columns.

20.01.2022 More photos from Baucau - Day 9: We were introduced to the Baucau Limestone terraces and in the afternoon went for a swim to cool off (again, those that weren't afraid of crocs!).

18.01.2022 The day has come to say "goodbye" to Timor-Leste - for now. The experience has been incredible, and the group handled all the hills, heat, bumps, twists and waves like pros. A big thank you to all students and those who assisted with it's success!

17.01.2022 ...had to share a few more underwater photos. Too bad I didn't get one of each participant, as everyone did awesome.

16.01.2022 Some more pictures of beautiful Dili

15.01.2022 Some more photos from our day off at Jaco Island (Day 13). The reef and fish (ikan) definitely lived up to the expectation! Crystal clear waters made visibility excellent. Sadly the white Victorians were no match for the sun but it was an excellent day off.

15.01.2022 More from yesterday (day 12)

13.01.2022 Today we are spending the morning snorkeling on beautiful Jaco Island! Having spent several days finding and identifying corals in the local limestones we now have the opportunity to see how they may have looked several million years ago. With the help of Nicole and her handy dandy coral identification book we have spent the morning enjoying everything Jaco Island has to offer.

11.01.2022 Day 14: Valu Beach back to Baucau

11.01.2022 Beautiful beach & blue water at Baucau Timor-Leste

09.01.2022 Day 12 (Com to Valu Beach): After a morning swim and some homework, we left Com for Valu Beach, stopping to look at changes in limestone, dolins (sink holes) and polje (the flat limestone terrane before the high mountain ranges). We stopped to look at the Lene Hara cave with ancestral drawings and fantastic limestone beds and stromatolites. With accommodation along the beach again we went exploring at night and spotted mass amounts of hermit crabs and other varieties of crab

09.01.2022 Day 9 Baucau Beach

08.01.2022 A few underwater shots at Jaco Island.

07.01.2022 For those that may be worried about us in relation to the earthquake and tsunami in Sulawesi Indonesia, we're fine here in Timor.

04.01.2022 More from day 10.

02.01.2022 If anyone is attending the "Understanding Timor-Leste: 2019 TLSA Research Conference" ... Nicole will be giving a presentation about this excursion Friday afternoon, June 28, Liceu Campus, UNTL

02.01.2022 We made the most of the morning on the beach by going for a swim, then went down the beach to look at limestone that has been weathered from wave action and analysed the lithology down the shore to determine if it was the Banda Melange or had resulted from mass wasting. The beaches also comprised of foraminifer (foram) sand! We managed to go for a quick snorkel, with some taking on the reef and losing We then had class time to work on stratigraphic columns and maps from previous days. That night we had a cultural dance show! With some cultural dances, and strangely a lot of hip hop, with most of the town coming to spectate
