03.01.2022 Pipers and drummers across Australia, and North America will pay tribute to Australian men and women who served in World War Two at 9.30 am on Saturday 15th August. This is to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War Two in the Pacific. Many pipers and drummers served in World War Two, including the Mildura Pipe Band that enlisted as a group; the only Australian community Pipe Band to do so. Our Pipe Major Neil MacDonald's father, Colin MacDonald was a member of that band. The members of the Mildura band were captured and taken as prisoners-of-war to Changi. Because of Stage Three restrictions for Covid-19 we are unable to gather together in a public place to play. Individual members will make the tribute in their driveways or backyards.
