10.01.2022 Pippi has a new set of wings! After coming to her new home with an incorrect wing trim, Pippi was crash landing all over the place. This can have both physical... and mental consequences for our birds. Luckily, Dr Hannah in Tully was able to perform a procedure called imping, which basically involves implanting donor feathers into the clipped flight feathers of the bird. Pippi was flying that afternoon and much happier for it! Although it is preferred for birds to remain flighted, if you do choose to trim your bird’s wings please ensure it is performed appropriately. Come and ask us if you’re unsure or check out the resources at Brisbane Bird Vet (https://www.brisbanebirdvet.com.au//BBV_Procedure-for-Corr) For us to be able to perform this procedure we need feather donations. If you have pet birds at home, you can collect their moulted flight feathers and bring them into the Tully or Mission Beach clinics to help give another bird the gift of flight! See more

Black River Pony Club had their first rally back a couple of weekends ago and Sponsored rider Abby Wilmot and her TB Gelding Peter Parker went along to check it out. I think he looks more excited than Abby, but we are so impressed by how good the pony club grounds look!
