08.01.2022 This is my first post since starting this page and wanted to share with you a little about what I do... I’m a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter and I’m a Speech Pathologist. I love each of these titles and each comes with amazing rewards, but I can truly say I love my professional one. I love that I have an ability to give back to the community and teach others what I know and understand and I love that my profession and my families challenge me to keep learning. 06.01.2022 Hi! I’m Kelly. I am a newly graduated Speech Pathologist with 10 yrs of personal infant, toddler and childhood feeding difficulties. I’m excited to begin a new journey at The Feeding Clinic, where I can share my knowledge and experiences with other parents Among other things, I am a mum of three awesome boys {16, 13 & 8}. My youngest was delivered early due to a placental complication, which catapulted us into a world of medical specialties, constant clinic appointments and ...immeasurable worry! One of his greatest health concerns was (and still is) poor growth, he had difficulties with feeding and sleeping, which led to a very exhausted and dejected Mum and Bub dyad. This was when I first met Irene, who coached me through my concerns and sent me in the right direction of speech pathology. Little did I know, she was also pointing towards my future career! I am so passionate about paediatric feeding, as I have lived the life of a mother just trying to feed her baby! I always felt like it was my fault that he was ‘failing to thrive’ so I truly understand from a parental perspective, the desperation you can feel trying to nourish a baby that is having great difficulty doing so. I look forward to working with, and supporting families in positions similar to ours. My personal experience, as well as my professional expertise, will allow me to view my clients from both a clinical and empathic standpoint. Feeding difficulties are not tackled alone, it takes an entire team and that includes the child, the family, the allied health and medical professionals. Coming together to understand a family’s feeding journey and to support the child is how we get the best outcomes.
