23.01.2022 Such a pleasure working alongside the legends Jarrod and Dot from Hartsyard. Whats even better is supporting this talented business duo with a few extra $ as theyve pivoted to takeaway during these crazy times. We delivered 50 meals on Tuesday last week and have another drop happening to RPA today. Our request: with funds raised they create 50 individually packaged nutritionally balanced meals that will sustain the healthcare workers on the frontline. Covering veg and vegan... options, to be refrigerated and reheatable, plus HACCP and Covid approved following stringent food safety standards. Their response. Too easy! This is what they delivered: hatted dining meets ready meal. Slow cooked beef brisket, warm potato salad, brussel sprouts and a Vegan shiitake mushroom stir-fry, chinese broccoli, pumpkin, sesame and grilled yuba (soy bean curd) with steamed rice. Our healthcare heroes were pretty excited by their Hartsyard delivery as much as the restaurant loved making them! Win win! This is just the start. 15.01.2022 "Meet Jameela Truman one of our Heroes, who is the trauma clinical nurse specialist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. She has kindly answered some questions we had for her as we try to get to know the people enjoying meals being delivered by Feed Our Heroes. "Working in the hospital is currently a little more stressful than on a normal day. Patients are more anxious and the staff are doing their absolute best to keep each other, the patients and their relatives at ea...se during the pandemic. The increased stress has tested me personally and professionally and I ensure to take the time to make sure Im ok so I can give my patients the best care. When life gets back to normal, Im most looking forward to a music gig and singing with the MDOK choir again. We currently practice via Zoom which is softening the blow of being away from them, but I cant wait until we can sing together in person." We asked Jameela how shes enjoying the meals from Feed Our Heroes. "I remember the first day we got the meals; I just came out of a busy resuscitation, didnt bring anything in for dinner, when I saw Feed Our Heroes food in the staff fridge I couldve leapt for joy. Having a hot meal during your shift is so important. Its pretty uplifting and comforting to know that complete strangers can be so generous to other strangers." We are so thankful to Jameela and all of her collegues and we think a hot meal is a great way to say thanks to people working in hospitals.
